Michael Trevino confirms to EW what most viewers have guessed: Tyler will be the first TVD character to visit the show’s New Orleans-set spinoff, The Originals. While The CW won’t confirm when – “sometime soon,” Trevino says coyly — or for how long, we do have an idea of why: As Tyler told Caroline, he can’t be at college when all he can focus on is his desire to make Klaus (Joseph Morgan) pay for killing his mother. Caroline begged him to love her more than he hates Klaus, but Tyler said he couldn’t and walked out. ”It was actually really tough on both of us,” Trevino tells EW of shooting the teary-eyed goodbye. “In these scenes where Caroline and Tyler are going their separate ways, it’s usually that one of us is emotional and one isn’t. On this one, both of us were emotional. There were a few more takes than how it regularly goes between Candice and I.”

I hope Tyler dies and his character is laid to rest permanently. And I am not speaking as a Klaroline (or any) shipper. No way is he realistically going to survive if/when he goes against Klaus and by extension remaining Originals.
ReplyDeleteMore thoughts - What if he is the mystery wolf protecting Hayley? If so, does he know that she is pregnant with Klaus' child. That should rankle him all the more.
Well that was obvious after the last episode of Vampire Diaries.
ReplyDeleteNot exactly happy about this.
His wolf form is black. The mystery wolf is gray.
ReplyDeleteMay be Tyler will finally die! I never really liked him, he was most interesting in season 2 of TVD, and that's it.
ReplyDeleteNot surprising given how TVD ended last episode. I'll reserve my judgement on the idea of him going to The Originals until I see how it plays out.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see Elijah rip off his head. I don't think Klaus will - since he had plenty of opportunities to do it before and hasn't.
ReplyDeletewell, no surprise after the last TVD ep like everyone has mentioned.... curious to see if he will be just a guest or recurring role, as he obviously cannot kill Klaus without killing the entire bloodline (including himself)... I do suspect that Plec might use his character to stimulate some attraction with Hayley... she can't resist her romantic angles.... (i for one hope she doesn't)
ReplyDeleteI could not care less... he is the least interesting character on this show
ReplyDeleteMy fears confirmed... I can't stand his character. It will make no sense if the writers have him survive for more than 1 episode. One werewolf against the Original vampires as well as Marcel and his lot? Come on. Klaus may resist killing him because of his love for Caroline, but that's not the case for Elijah and Rebekah.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I predict -- much to my dismay -- that the only reason he may last is due to Hayley. If she wants Tyler to be protected, the siblings probably will (not wanting to upset the pregnant hormonal werewolf and all that).
Whatever the writers decide, I sincerely hope that he doesn't stick around for long. I am really enjoying the show and I don't want that to change.
Are they going to gimp the Originals to have the TVD heroes win, like they did when the Originals were on TVD?
ReplyDeleteI despise him for the way he said goodbye to Caroline and I'm not really interested in seeing him on The Originals.
ReplyDeleteI think that New Orleans as place where everyone secretly wants you dead is perfect for one episode stay for Tyler.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more.
ReplyDeleteExactly my sentiments, I don't get all the hate. If they keep the writing up to the standard so far at The Originals then Tyler should be great, plus it'll be nice to see how Marcel reacts to another Hybrid, especially since this one is not unkillable.
ReplyDeleteI think we'll see Tyler teaming up with Marcel.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually shocked at how many people want Tyler dead.
ReplyDeleteHe's unarguably the last moral character left, to me. He's the last good guy that had his life troughoutly crushed as TVD progressed and never fell into a dark path he went by his own. Even when he was sired to Klaus he fought against it. Hell he even tried to free Klaus' hybrids from their sirebond, if that's not heroic I don't know what else.
Michael Trevino is a fantastic actor and plays off his scenes with Joseph really well.
But truth be told: nevermind Elijah I'd stop watching TO and TVD immediately if Tyler died. He's the last character I respect due to his moral code and not being a hypocrite about it (looking at you Mr. Elijah 'I'll twist your words in your mouth' Mikaelson, even tough you're my favourite).
The moral of the story would inevitably be: 'no matter what you do, being good won't take you anywhere but to misery'.
don't kill off Tyler..he has such potential on TO.
Think about it, he's the only other hybrid ever and has a beef with both Hayley and Klaus, he's the perfect 'torn' antagonist. One that is torn between his justified lust for revenge and the good man he actually is.
I'd even dare say he'd make a better villain/ally than Marcel
They destroyed Tyler? Really? He's not even one of my favourites but over the course of four seasons, he's probably the best developed character and one of the only ones who wanted to do the right thing last season. He's grown from a douche to someone who actually cares about doing what has to be done.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this. I really can't wrap my mind around all the hate that he receives other than for shipping purposes. Tyler is a fantastically developed character and you can't argue with his morals.
ReplyDeleteHow can he be perfect antagonist if he is alone, doesn't have any kind of power or connections and killing his enemy will cost him his own life?
ReplyDeleteI am curious to see how Tyler can get revenge against Klaus without using Hayley as a pawn. I find him to be a bit boring & hopefully my opinion will change. I just don't see Tyler as much of threat but endangered. I can only see this ending bad for Tyler & can't say I would miss him.
ReplyDeleteI especially noticed this when the "heroes" killed Chris the hybrid just to "activate" Jeremy. People don't seem to like his actions, but they seem believable as a reaction to stuff that has happened to him.
ReplyDeleteThat, and the mystery wolf is apparently enormous.
ReplyDeleteI guess destroyed is too hard of a word. I just don't like that the writers had his character run off just to get revenge. It's not like he can kill Klaus, that'll kill all his line and Tyler doesn't have that power. So any revenge Tyler takes would have to be on someone Klaus cares about. And getting revenge indirectly isn't right, because it's Klaus and Klaus only that deserves Tyler's wrath.
ReplyDelete"But truth be told: nevermind Elijah I'd stop watching TO and TVD immediately if Tyler died. He's the last character I respect due to his moral code and not being a hypocrite about it."
ReplyDeleteTrue, but I'm not attached to Tyler enough to stop watching two of my favorite shows (even if TVD has not been as good as of late).
Tyler and his arrogance of continually trying to kill Klaus don't belong in the darker The Originals world where the originals are lethal, even Elijah. If Tyler had ever learned his lesson, his mom would still be alive. If Klaus doesn't kill Tyler the minute he sees him, then I'm going to be super disappointed.
ReplyDeleteTyler has never been a nice guy from season 1. I don't know what the darling Caroline ever saw in him. She improved him, but it was never enough for me to think he, with all the strong male characters around who could and did kick his ass, should have any claim to alpha male. Give it up dude, you're not even beta in either of these worlds. Let Klaus kill him.
Tyler was hardly on the show. I think that is partly why not many like him. They really have't been able to get attached.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call him "moral" so much as egotistical. He wasn't about saving people or doing the right thing, he was about not being beholden to Klaus and then getting revenge. He uses people to get what he wants. Those werewolves were better off sired, they were protected and happy. They were sired in the first place because of their gratitude. Breaking them of that and convincing them to hate Klaus for no other reason than he hated Klaus and wanted to be in charge got them killed and he didn't have any moral guilt about that whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this. I was shocked to see all of this Tyler hate here.
ReplyDeleteGood! His place on TVD was tiring, and wayyy dragged out. I've been wanting him to avenge his mother anyway, wondering when he'd go about doing it. (R.I.P. Carol) We never really actually got to see him mourn. So taking his hatred out on Klaus is expected. Granted he's gonna get himself killed one way or another, b/c Klaus, well we know how that'll go. The point is Tyler will go down swinging. But I swear to god, if they don't kill him in his first appearance, and he somehow keeps coming back, if he comes between Haylijah in ANYWAY shape or form, I will shove my foot so hard through the screen, that he'll feel it up his ass!!
ReplyDeleteTyler was a major player ever since season 1, sure he got 'shipped' off a lot but still was in more than 15 episode each season like his contract obligated to.
ReplyDeleteMany dislike him because of Klaroline or simply the fact that he's the walking proof for Klaus sins.
Tyler's been one of my favourites ever since season 1, back when I was 15 and the TVD craze was on its height my friends and I loved to predict Tylers future since his status always changed.
ReplyDeleteMatt is great as well altough the writers threw him more under a bus than Tyler.
Rewatch season 2 if you take his acting as wooden, or when he played Klaus. He gave Klaus even his own spin and did great at that. And would you consider his cryface from last episode as wooden.
ReplyDeleteIf anything Trevino is overacting at time but that's the worst I could say about him. Not like Morgan and Gillies don't love to overact as well at times....and DON'T get me started on Ians eyebrow acting.
The one i see who rips Tyler heart would be Rebekah expect the unexpected i say lol..Klaus has is hands full with Marcel and Elijah is busy with Davina
ReplyDeleteI am thinking that when Tyler states he is working with another wolf pack that needs his help, that the wolf watching Hayley is from that same wolf pack. The wolves must know about Hayleys baby. Perhaps since Tyler is hybrid he sensed the bun growing in Hayley. I imagine that Tyler is gonna wanna kill the baby as that will be a way to get to Klaus. PROBLEM is that the baby is Elijahs nephew. HE WILL KILL TYLER WITHOUT hesitation.
ReplyDeleteNooooooooooooo. I was keeping my fingers grossed and everything. I do not want tvd to mix with TO. I know that wont happen I was just hoping it wouldn't happen anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the summary for episode 7 I am going to assume that's the episode Tyler comes to NO. Whether Tyler finds out about Klaus being Hayley's baby daddy is still the lingering question for me.

Plus Damon did decide that it would be fastest to allow Klaus to turn a bar full of people into vampires just so Jeremy could kill them in order for his tattoo to grow.
ReplyDeleteStefan was who got me into the books and show. I have always had issues with Damon, in Season 1 obviously, his want to kill.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Tyler in Season 1, it was only a little bit before and after he became a werewolf I did.
I'm super excited to see how the Mikaelsons will welcome (or not haha) the new wolves and Tyler when they show up. I expect a "She's our family now." from Elijah and serious business faces from Rebekah and Klaus.
