Matt Smith's Doctor Who exit storyline was tweaked to leave the Time Lord limbless after the 31-year-old star sustained a real-life injury to his leg, a newspaper report has claimed.
Plot details for the Doctor Who Christmas special episode titled The Time of the Doctor also reveal that scenes filmed for the regeneration of Smith's character into Peter Capaldi's incoming 'Thirteenth Doctor' are the most thrilling in the show's history.
Other spoilers claimed by The Sun include how the Doctor is drawn back to Trenzalore - the planet he knows will bear his grave - when he hears a bell tolling throughout the universe and how he loses a leg.
Only Fools And Horses star Tessa Peake-Jones and Hustle actor Rob Jarvis are said to be joining previously-announced Orla Brady in the cast.
And although Cybermen foes have already been confirmed for the Doctor's final battle, further enemies are reported - as is the solution to the ultimate Who riddle.
A BBC spokeswoman said: "Doctor Who Christmas is a special moment for fans and while there's still huge amounts to be revealed it is disappointing to see any spoilers, whether true or untrue, running in national press ahead of the episode."

It's annoying that you have to pay to read the Sun online to find out what else they have said, though it sounds like it's all lifted from Gallifrey Base from this article. I wouldn't give money to a Murdoch paper to read what they have to say thou...
ReplyDeleteAre the UK papers ever right about Doctor Who?
ReplyDeleteOn occasion.
ReplyDeleteIn this instance, I think so. The rumor that he's supposed to be out of regenerations and is surprised to find himself regenerating anyway has been out there for a while now.
Yeah they got all their info from GB, its pretty poor actually. I hate the Sun anyway but posting the spoilers in a national newspaper is frankly rude, many people don't want to know but its kind of hard to avoid now.
ReplyDeleteI know that, I meant the losing a limb part. All previous Doctor Who stories I've seen in the UK papers have been crap. That being said I logged into GB and saw it there, but without seeing the proof I'm still not sure,
ReplyDeleteAll part of the Murdoch empire not liking the BBC isn't it, crap behaviour imo :(
ReplyDeleteWho knows, it's certainly a rumour from certain spoiler hounds on GB. I hope Moff can plug these spoilers in the future, there's someone in-house leaking stuff they shouldn't be to fans they've met on location. I don't mind teasers but on this occasion (and a few other episodes in the past) it's just 'look what I know' and then spats with others about who knows most and large chunks of story spewed out which anti-BBC media pick up on just to twist the knife. Ridiculous :(
ReplyDeleteYes, Capaldi will be called the 12th. Hurt is a regeneration used up, as was Tennant's Meta-Doctor, but they are not called the Doctor.
ReplyDeleteI know that, but in the article it says capaldi is the 13th, not the 12th.
ReplyDeleteI think non-fans are just a bit confused by the War Doctor, lol
