0_O WO!! Definetly the best episode of the serie by far from me, I was on the edge of the seat the whole episode (except the Adalind parts^^;;;...the only - of the episode, only parts I didn't really care).
Great premiere! Ugh, I have missed this show so much and it was great to see everyone again.
I really hope they don't find Zombie Nick till a couple more episodes because he was so much fun to watch and a badass. As usual, the action sequences in this show didn't disappoint. And for once, Juliette didn't annoy me! She's growing on me now.
I still don't like Adalind's storyline. I just want her back to Portland asap.
This episode was a great way to set up the rest of the season. Can't wait for next week!
awesome premier and good to have the show back! liked how they picked up where they left off but left us hanging at the end... I can't wait to see how this resolves! Juliette was a bit irritating, but gave her a pass as it would be understandable given the circumstances....
i'm wondering why nobody in the police seem to ask why there's the watch dude suspected from kidnapping couple of years ago (Monroe), that random girl (Rosalee) and Nick's girlfriend coming out of nowhere with the cure while Nick is just....missing^^;;;
Way better paced than the last time around...even though I am still not behind using "middle-episodes" as season starters. I have the feeling that Renard just started a war with his order.
I think she was great...she kicked some ass, was smart enough to call Hank, and as Nick's "true love" I expect her to be all focussed on getting him back. I am also very glad that the writers finally did what I waited a whole season for...allowing her to combine her scientific mind with Rosalee's knowledge. It worked beautiful, and I hope we get to see more of this in the future.
A climax...but that is what happens if you do a middle episode. In my experience, it is the best to watch the Grimm Three-parter (finale, premiere and second episode) in a row, otherwise the middle episodes are bound to fall flat somewhat. At one point you realize "this won't be resolved anytime soon" and from this point onward, the expectations lessen automatically.
This was a good episode and at least most of the open stories from last year have been closed now, or moved to their next stage.
The problem I had was that there was too much going on. Too much action without the appropriate needed build up to make the action suspenseful or impactful. Plus many scenes felt like there were not only done last season, but also done multiple times in this episode as well. It felt redundant to me.
I think it would have been better served concentrating on the Nick/ Baron/ Renaud arc and letting the Hexenbeast stuff wait until next week.
That said, I thought a lot of it was fun and loved the UnGrimm! XD
Anyone else flashback to Roadhouse during the bar fight?
I swear I heard Patrick Swayze saying... "All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected. Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice."
I'm glad last season is tied up now and we can move on to the new season!
You're probably right. But they did the same thing last year and it felt more complete. I suppose this entire episode felt like I could see the next episode and hear "last time on Grimm", see a 2 minute clip and be entirely caught up.
So I suppose my issue is I watched a 2 minute story over a 40 minute span. Again, it was nice... but mindless and no real pop.
I have forgotten just how GREAT this show can be. Seriously, between Adalind's hilarious tasks, ENTIRE CAST just clicking together in t he right way and tense and badass storyline, this might be the best Grimm episode yet.
but I can't seem to give her a pass.. because I have always thought she was from the start.. she just seems to have that whiny kinda voice.. nothing against the actress that's playing the role but she just gets on my nerve..
the real question is why the police don't question how a bunch of civilian now what to do with the zombies running around and they have no clue a cop is missing
do you thing it would have helped if they re-aired last season finale? (& if they did forgive me...was forced to watch. DVR cause I was at work so late. ). I ask because this season the recaps instead of airing the. final ep of the precious season has not been satisfying
loved that when out numbered by Zombies they called the cops and. Hank not being an idiot sent out the lot of the. too often this genre leaves the main characters into battle I their even when it's not smart.
Juliette was anti-whining. Monroe was a basket case. and Nick did not go quietly. I started laughing with glee when the Baron exhibited that smug self ccongraulaory smile.
Adalind was a hoot. Snarky even as she jumped through her hoops. 'pick up all the dead flowers'
I'm not sure if they did, but I don't think so. I watch via DVR so I do not always see the schedule or what airs before....
I'm not sure if it would have helped much. Like someone pointed out below, GRIMM seems to do these 3-episode mini-arcs with a season finale followed by the next season' premiere and then the second episode of the season completes the arc. So that "middle episode"/ season premiere feels incomplete, no real resolution and no real rest for a new season either.
I think what really would have worked is if they aired 2 episodes back-to-back for the premiere. That way we would have had the the complete mini-arc completed.
This episode actually starts before the finale ending (15 minutes before). And the entire episode only spans a couple of hours - so one one at the precinct would really have time to realize that Nick was missing unless they were told.
I meant since the police last saw him, can't remember when Nick last went to the station in the finale before the cut (if it was more or less just before he went to the yard or in the morning)...but anyway it doesn't matter, it's too early either way for anyone to worry. And we're both saying and agreeing on the same thing ;)
yes that sounds about right. they are in the unique position where they can tell the stories they want even when that means they break the standards for things what a season premiere should be.
but I do think a two hour premiere was warrented and would have netted good ratings
I enjoyed this premiere. It was action-packed, and the pace was good. I liked all the characters and their roles in the episode. Only exception being, I didn't enjoy Adalind's storyline all that much. Aside from that, it was interesting to see Nick so different and dangerous. I also liked that Juliette was able to be a good contributing member of the team, using her vet scientific knowledge to help Rosalee with the antidote. It was also a good change of pace, from what seems like the trend nowadays, to have the cops be competent and part of the solution. I thought the police were very effective and instrumental in that container yard.
As an aside, I also enjoyed the online webisodes that has much more Bud, interacting with Monroe and Rosalee, and Wu too. Those webisodes were hilarious!
Glad to have Grimm back! Looking forward to the rest of the season!

How about BEYOND FREAKING AMAZING?!?!

I CAN'T wait for next week!

I was hoping they'd make it to Europe, but oh well. Voted awesome because it's back. Yeah!

ReplyDeleteRenard is become a good guy and an ally.....wonder how the police going to explain the crazy stuff going on in Portland?

I liked it, but I felt something was missing and I'm still not sure what. Good but no real pop.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call him a "good guy"...he just ordered a murder, after all. His interest in Nick is still entirely self-motivated.
ReplyDeleteMeh. Juliette is even worse somehow. I liked Adalind's scenes apart from the pacing.
ReplyDeleteThis was a good episode and at least most of the open stories from last year have been closed now, or moved to their next stage.

ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much what I just said didn't I? ;)

ReplyDeleteGreat Premiere lots of awesome scenes, especially Monore making a joke bout the ppl smoking the cure lol
ReplyDeleteFavorite scene was when the gang tried figuring out another way to administer the cure and Monroe recommended them to smoke it lmao
