Well, he seems to be left pretty much in the dark about a lot of things.(And knowing the producers we will probably only find out by the end of season 5 what these are...) Does Jason have some slightly supernatural powers - or is it just the overuse of slow motion???? I wonder what you think about Atlantis so far. It is difficult not to compare it with Merlin and spot all the similarities. Must admit I fell asleep during episode 2. Although that was not necessarily the show's fault alone, I do struggle to get really involved.
"Although that was not necessarily the show's fault alone, I do struggle to get really involved." probably this for you, and maybe you compare shows a lot. nothing wrong with it, but many times it causes you to dislike aspect of one show over another.
Personally I never watched Merlin, not because it was not good, I read about it and thought hmm not a bad story, but for me I'm just not that in to role reversal, well here it was more of character focus reversal. Again this does not mean I hate Merlin or anything, in fact even in King Author stories/adaptations and such I was always exited to see Merlin as he was the only one with magic you know. anyway this has become about me sry. Point is I don't compare shows to disappoint myself with similarity or other factors, rather decide before I pick up a show whether I am going to watch it or not, and once I watch it I have to finish it, less some drastic drastic change. and out of probably over 300 or even more shows I have watched I have only dropped 3 series that I has watched.
I think they decided how great the slow mo camera work was in s4 of Merlin and have run with it ever since XD There's a lot more of it in this episode (just finished watching it), I guess with the story involved it was kinda necessary but it does seem to be very exaggerated a couple of times and I have to admit I'd prefer it saved for the right time.
Hmmm, I'm still not totally sold on it myself, but I think it has great potential and it's certainly filling a gap in the market if the viewing figures are anything to go by. I too found episode 2 boring on the whole, did you see my mini-review in the comments of the dialogue teasers? Basically I found that the characterisation of the cast is too safe and one dimensional at the moment, and I hope that this improves as for a second episode it wasn't very believable why the main three are even friends for me :(
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm hoping we get to see how Jason has these acrobatic moves in this, he didn't know himself in the first episode.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know how I can watch this show? I can't get BBC One through my provider without paying a huge fee and it's not available through iTunes.
