The security at Queen Consolidated really sucks if four guys in green hoods with guns can just ride the elevator up and the head of the company isn't even alerted.
I just don't get why... I mean, they already have a fabulous character why must they destroy her to turn her into a love interest, can't they find a way to do both?
I don't really see how this forced/fanpandering. Especially because there's no dialogue after the scene included in the clip, its hard to judge. I admit the island scene seemed very fanpandering & I'm an olicity "shipper" (honestly don't care that much either way) In terms of its realism, I really hope they show Felicity bruised/sore from the fall.. no cuts or scrapes are bad enough. Always have to keep in mind it's a tv show... on cw.. they're bound to have goofs. Trying to make sense of every stunt or action sequence is ridiculous. I'm really hoping the episode turns out better than my expectations.
How amazing was that seeing Summer Glau in this fast-paced sneak peek for Arrow season 2. Hopefully this role is going to be a stepping stone to her career. I'd love to see her reach new audiences in non-genre tv shows/movies.
You are trying to make an argument that this is not fan pandering and you answer with something like this: "I admit the island scene seemed very fanpandering & I'm an olicity "shipper
Ummm OK what was your argument again.
@Victoria Llanos- I never said that, just your own interpretation of my words I guess. No I have nothing against female character or anyone being love interest. The Oliver/Felicity thing is clearly too manfactured and very fan servicy, thats what will be hamful to the character of Felicity, not that she is a love interest, but that her whole being is being reduced to this olicity thing.
I used shipper in quotes for a reason, maybe I shouldn't have as it wasn't interpreted the way I intended. What I was trying to convey was that I don't really care who he ends up with or ship wars in the fandom. I just like their scenes together over his scenes with Laurel, whether that makes me a shipper or not, I don't really care.
However, to clarify my point earlier, to someone who likes Olicity scenes, that island sneak peak they released seemed very forced...I didn't like it. So I agree with your point about destroying Felicity's character, etc, just for pleasing fans for that particular scene. If I can identify fan-pandering in that scene, I'm sure I could identify it elsewhere, regardless of which couple I prefer.
However, in this scene specifically, when I said it doesn't seem too much like fan-pandering was in comparison to the earlier island scene. It seems just as how it would've naturally panned out (i.e. him rescuing Felicity), regardless of fan pandering. Sure the action was a bit much, but like I said its CW, they can't always have all realistic action scenes, it wouldn't be TV otherwise.
I don't think his identity is out. I think because he's now in charge of Queen Consolidated and because of what his mother (family) had to do with the Glades destruction, he's a target. Its like everyone will be placing the blame onto Oliver since Moira and Malcolm are behind bars.
You can see at the beginning of the clip that there's nothing discarded left in the elevator. If they had changed out of or into something, or had attempted to conceal their very large weapons inside of something, there should be something leftover to indicate that.
So forced and fan pandering-sque seriously. I think they are so going to destroy Felicity this season if they keep up at this rate, if not ending up actually tanking the whole show. Not even Plec has gone as so low to appease shippers with such eye rolling worth scenes . Ok maybe with klaroline but she snapped out of it quickly, luckily.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
"Oliver Queen, you have failed this city!"

Emily mentioned at Comic Con that she was pretty bruised up from one of the scenes they shot for the premiere.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a pretty major point to "leak" before it airs...
ReplyDeleteI think someone outside the group knows Oilver secret identity of Arrow? What do they mean OIlver you have fail this city?

ReplyDeletemaybe they changed in the elevator.
ReplyDeleteI hope Olicity don't get together but it is scenes like these that make me ship them so hard!!
