  1. That was pretty good! Love that Julia's the monarch.

And ugh, Linda. I honestly hate her now. What is her problem? Why does she keep listening to Big Jim? And stay away from the egg!

Was fake!Alice an alien? Is that what direction they're heading?

And ooh, after Julia dropped the egg in the water, it got really pretty.

    Can't wait for next season!

  2. I don't know about the show but in the book the dome was caused by aliens

    ReplyDelete
  3. Decent episode, but not a good season finale. Last weeks episode would have been better as the finale. This episode had a lot happen but didn't seem to accomplish much.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Had last week's episode been the finale I would have come back for next season, but this was a really weak episode and doesn't leave me seeking more.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Linda and I share a first name, but that doesn't make me like her. I mean, ugh. So, now I have 9 months to wonder how Barbie is saved.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I swear I said that if Bid Jim didn't bite it this week I'd be done. But I think I'll be back next season to find out if Barbie lives or not. But I'm so very not happy right now.
Otherwise, that was an awful finale. This show is just so much wasted potential. Linda's clearly drinking the Kool Aid, at this point if she started talking sense it would actually be poor writing and terribly inconsistent with the character thus far. Junior, I've hated him since day one, still hate him now. Only I can't tell if I hate him or his dad more.
I think I have to rewatch the newsroom finale to get back into my happy place.

  7. Well this was a let down. Horrible cliffhanger Barbie is obviously going to survive

    ReplyDelete
  8. They should have used last weeks episode as the finale,it wasn't much of a cliffhanger.

And Jim,ugh! Now he is ministering to his flock? Big Jim tries to reinvent myself every week and he only succeeds in becoming a worse s.o.b. than what he was... and getting more delusional week by week.

    Linda,is hopeless....she couldn't buy a clue!

  9. We did get some answers, but they were extremely vague. We learned who the monarch was (but not what that means). We learned what the purpose of the butterfly was. We learned that a "we" sent the dome. We learned why the dome was sent (as protection, but not from what)...

They may not have been the most satisfying answers, but they were answers.

    ReplyDelete
  10. That's really interesting... Because this episode definitely made it seem like aliens were responsible for the dome, but we've been told that the explanation for the dome was going to be different from the book in the TV show. So I wonder if they just meant that the purpose of the dome was going to be different, or if they meant that aliens aren't behind this one too, despite tonight's episode seeming very much to point in that direction.

  11. Linda has become so stupid, I can't even watch her. I'm surprised she doesn't shoot herself in the foot with her own gun. I didn't like how it ended. And now all the townspeople think that their choice of hanging Barbie is what made the dome go crazy. UGH.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The aliens are still the best thing about this show, but I am going to kick DiscoEgg to the trash heap if it keeps giving jobs to characters I'd rather see die.,

    ReplyDelete
  13. It was surprising that they ended it this way. There's nothing to really draw people back next summer except for the dome mystery. If they keep populating the show with idiots and people I want to see die while killing off the only sympathetic characters, I'm going to be wishing for a dome implosion.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Did we learn the purpose of the butterfly? I would hope there is more than that because it was the lamest part besides the moronic townspeople.

    ReplyDelete
  15. You call them answers and I call them new questions. New questions are as bad as no answers in my book.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Because we have no idea what being the monarch means, I can't fully believe Julia is it. I mean, the show tells us she is so I guess she is. But there no clear evidence that is the case. Sure, the butterfly flew to her. And sure, pink stars were falling in lines after she dropped the egg in the lake. But that isn't enough for me. If Joe dropped the egg in the lake it could have done the same thing. It just wants someone to protect it. Does it really matter who? I mean, everyone--Julia, the kids, Barbie--are talking about this "monarch will be crowned" stuff as if actually means anything to them. As if it makes some lick of sense. But they know just as much as we do. I don't know if any of that made sense in my rambling way there, I guess I'm just frustrated that I know not much more than I did in the pilot. I'd rather the show adhere to that ole storytelling staple: show, don't tell.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I liked Linda fine at the beginning. She was stepping after Duke died and was trying to all the right things. Halfway through the season I just liked her less and less each episode. She really is a bit dense.

    ReplyDelete
  18. mostly a meh episode with some decent parts for me. we got some answers, but they weren't really all that surprising and there wasn't much of a set up/cliffhanger that makes me want to come back (save for will Barbie be saved -of course he will).... of course the frustration that is the Linda character was not abated, but worsened (along with the other BJ lemmings in the town) - BJ stages a public execution in the town square and Linda (who I assume won the worst cop poll earlier) who is supposed to uphold due process and investigate the case and give the accused a fair trial doesn't say a peep.... absolutely no one wants to question BJ....... overall an unsatisfying finale that really doesn't leave me wanting to come back when it returns

    ReplyDelete
  19. So is there such thing as an answer in your book? I can't think of any potential answer to something that would make it impossible to pull a new question off of it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I doubt we'll ever see the butterfly again, so I'm guessing that was the butterfly's sole purpose.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm not sure "show, don't tell" has anything to do with this episode. It neither showed nor told for the most part.

    ReplyDelete
  22. After watching this I don't think it's doing the show any favors to give it a second season. They should have made this into a 13 episode mini-series with a satisfying conclusion at the end. Dragging out a mystery just for the sake of renewal never did anybody any favors. Who is even going to remember all the issues and questions they raised nine months from now?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I loved every single second! It was extremely nice to see the overview of the Dome, and the cliffhanger was awesome, but without leaving us gasping for air. Overall, this was, in my opinion, the best episode of the series so far!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I was reading these comments to decide if I should catch up with it as I stopped after episode that three. Seems I made a wise decision.

    ReplyDelete
  25. This was the "big Junior cliffhanger" they were talking about. THIS!! Seriously!!!

It''s so predictable that Junior and Barbie will survive. Ugh!!

I am still not sure if Linda or Barbie is the monarch. I mean the butterfly was flying around Barbie, but came towards Linda when she picked the egg. So who is it? (Q1)

How is throwing the egg in the water "saving it"? (Q2)

What do the aliens want with Chester's Mill. What will the dome protect Chester's Mill from, the zombie apocalypse or a nuclear holocaust? (Q3)

What does Junior's mom have to do with all this? Also, why didn't Junior mention his mother's egg painting before? (Q4)

What's wrong with Junior, why doesn't he pick a side already? (Q5)

Such an unsatisfying finale, leaving behind more questions than answers.

P.S.: Did anyone else notice that they cut the scene where Joe and Norrie are kissing in the forest and no one is around them? I wonder if it was because of time restriction or some other reason.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Did anyone else burst out laughing when Junior called Barbie a psychopath?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think you meant Julia where you wrote Linda. Linda's the clueless cop.

Throwing the egg in the water is the best place to protect and hide it. Who the fuck goes swimming in the middle of that disaster? Nobody. It's safe there.

His mother painted a lot of stuff. He may have simply forgotten about it, or been so distracted by the image of him in front of the barn. Forgetting is human, how else would you explain the thousands, if not millions, of people who daily forget where they put their car keys or smartphone?

Junior has been through a lot of shit. Abusive father, abusive relationship with Angie, and a lot of fights with Barbie. I'm not saying we should feel sorry for him, but he is conflicted, and that is very natural. If he had just "made a decision" and just simply picked a side, I'd be really surprised and the writers would be clueless about how the human mind works.

I did not realize they cut the scene before you mentioned it. That's lame, I wanted to see them kiss one last time for the season.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I agree with u. simple as that

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm with you. I did think Julia was going to be the monarch but after it unfolded with such uncertainty this episode I now don't think it is. We have no definitive sign she is the Monarch.
It also annoyed me that she ran off and left Barbie with Junior. Having risked her life to go get him why would she bail on him when he was clearly disadvantaged in a fight. Very out of character. If the writers wanted to take Barbie in then they could have just had him knock Julia out or something. No way she'd have left him like that as she didn't know if Junior would shoot him right there and then.

  30. Put it this way - it's entertaining crap. I enjoy watching it but I feel like I need a shower afterwards.

    ReplyDelete
  31. What a complete and utter disappointment this season finale was, especially after such a great episode last week.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Not at that scene, but I did burst out at Linda insisting on touching the miniDome and then knocking herself out.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Disappointing :-/

    ReplyDelete
  34. I do think that the why is going to be different but the who will be the same. If I understood correctly it already seems that the purpose in the book and in the show are different. In the show it appears to have been sent to protect the town whereas in the book...well I'm not gonna put spoilers here ^^

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yup, I know. I was just wondering if they're going in the same direction.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The finale isn't that great. I was right about Julia being the monarch. Linda? Oh boy, I hate her so much. What an idiot. When I saw the pink stars rising to the sky I thought the seizure line is "Pink stars are falling in lines" so why rising to the sky? There's a lot of questions. It didn't satisfy me. Too bad I have to wait next year for season 2. BTW I love the alien twist. I didn't read the book so I have no idea until the finale.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree!!! Spoiler TV should include that for "Scene of The Week" poll. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. The reason for the dome in the book was really stupid, aliens weren't doing it as protection it was a game/ like humans were ants. Also in the book only a small handful of people survive in the end. The book was really horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wondered that too - seems weird that the line is falling when the stars were rising. I've wondered that ever since the Mini-Dome showed pink stars - again - rising to the top.

    ReplyDelete
  40. "Who the fuck goes swimming in the middle of that disaster?"
---> Who the fuck is building a gallows in the middle of that disaster?
---> Who the fuck ist watching a private fight club in the middle of that disaster?
    ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  41. It all depends on the point of view I suppose. If you're standing on your head, the pink stars are falling. Plus, 2 domes make a sphere. "The circle only has one side". When the mini-dome went black it looked like a sphere

    ReplyDelete
  42. I try to make it brief. Good finale except the almost anticlimatic ending. The whole thing could have been better, sure, but it also could have been worse. Random thoughts:
    - again a solid performance by Dean Norris
    - it was good to see Samantha Mathis back - liked the alien approach (by the way, this whole "we took a familiar form" reminded me of "id, ego and super-ego" in the last Dark Tower book)
    - what is it with Phil?
    - every time you think it cannot get any more stupid, you can count on Linda to save the day. "this is police property, let me touch it"
    - glad Angie didn't die
    - pink stars were pretty cool again

    ReplyDelete
  43. i thought it was great despite all the negative views by evry1 else. things i didnt like was that Phil is now on par with Linda in the Stupidity department and junior was being junior. i will be back next season

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't think anyone could ever see those things happening beforehand. The point of my statement was that they have a lot of other stuff on their brain to deal with rather than go swimming and randomly finding the egg. They don't even know it's down there, so they wouldn't have any reason to go swimming. The fight club was for entertainment, and the gallows was for justice. I would personally never participate in either of those, but apparently Chester's Mill would. I don't see any reason whatsoever - unless they see the egg is down there - to go swimming.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm not entirely certain what a sphere is (gonna Google it), but if it is correct that it is technically "upside down", then yes, the pink stars are falling.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I enjoyed this episode. Some observations:
Phil was originally a character I liked. He's now become this unlikable idiot.
I was so happy when Norrie and Joe let Linda touch the dome, knowing full well that she'd get shocked.

When Julia was about to drop the mini dome into the water and stopped to think about it I was just like 'DROP THE DAMN THING'
Nice to see Alice return, even in a hologram.
Slightly disappointed that they didn't do anything MASSIVE in this episode, like kill off a main character (if only it had been Linda).

Although a lot of people are frustrated that very few questions were answered, with more introduced instead, that's one thing that will ensure I come back next year. It keeps the suspense going.

I couldn't quite figure out how Julia was gonna hide the minidome but as soon as she went on the water I knew what she was going to do. Great plan too.

Definitely watching again next year. I've enjoyed this season. Now to look ahead to everything starting next week....

    ReplyDelete
  47. did anybody else notice that in the minidome, it turned black then
white then to ashes and right after julia dropped the egg and the pink
lines or stars or whatever they're called reached the dome, it turned
white. which if I'm correct can mean that they're a step closer to
getting rid of the dome? or am I making things up again...?

Also I knew Julia would be the monarch but was hoping that wasn't the case. I'm not happy with it, but I'll live.

Linda is the worst cop in the history of horrible cops. How is it possible to be THAT stupid?

    not
a great finale but it isn't that bad. Could've been better, but I
personally enjoyed it. It probably helped that I didn't read any
spoilers or had too much expectations.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Put two domes together and you get a sphere, a 3-dimensional circle (though I'm not sure that's the correct definition)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh, I see. Thanks for the explanation!

    ReplyDelete
  50. So finale was a total let down, nothing new really happened. We had an idea that Julia was the monarch because the dome went crazy after she got shot and we knew that Junior's mom knew something before she died. Only thing was the mini-dome opened which we knew would occur after the monarch hatched. Maybe the possible alien reveal but people who read the book summary knew that already. So I guess if this show is back in the summer I will watch it but during the regular season I watch too many shows.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm getting so sick of the villains in every show I watch. I want more mini dome.. not Big Jim crap

    ReplyDelete
  52. Technical definition of a sphere is a 3-dimentional object consisting of infinitely many points equidistant from a center.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I watched this episode and was satisfied by it, and thought, "can't wait for next week's episode when somebody just kills Big Jim already. About time that bastard is gone from the show (and I wouldn't shed a tear if Linda is gone too)..." And then I went to SpoilerTV and realized that this is the season finale. I was like, "how the hell is this a finale???"

    ReplyDelete
  54. Nine freaking months... :(

    ReplyDelete
  55. "Junior has been through a lot of shit. Abusive father, abusive relationship with Angie" what? I don't know how kidnapping and keeping angie prisoner is abusive for junior and not Angie

    ReplyDelete
  56. I really liked it!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I never said it wasn't abusive for Angie. It's definitely absuive towards her. But kidnapping and keeping her a prisoner is no doubt a traumatic event for Junior as well. He was so stuck in his own chain of thoughts he felt he had to lock her down here, even though she begged him to let her go, and yet he didn't. Keeping someone prisoner is a traumatic event, although obviously not as traumatic as for the person who was imprisoned.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Thanks for clearing that up.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Well, it's only a great plan if the idea is to LOSE it, rather than protect it. Once it's in the water, it;s basically gone; even assuming she could find the exact spot she dropped it again, it could drift ,get silted over, etc. Odds of ever finding it again are virtually nil. So, smooth more there, Julia. But then, nobody on this show has two brains to rub together (I mean, LINDA, the COP, didn't notice that Julia going from being shot by Barbie to being Barbie's accomplice in big Jim's retcon makes not a lick of sense???), so I guess this genius plan shouldn't be a surprise, either.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Why would she need to find it again? The whole point is to keep it from Big Jim. f it's in the water, he won't be able to get ahold of it.

    ReplyDelete
  61. The term they used more than once was "protect." We were also told, more than once, that the characters believe that the egg may be key to bringing down th Dome. Admittedly, this may not be true, as these characters are very good at reaching conclusions on the basis of little or no evidence, but let's accept the premise that they BELIEVE the egg is important fro bringing down the Dome. Even inside the Daome, given how small that egg is, there must be an octobazillion places it could be hidden with absolute certainty that BJ could never find it, but that the operson hiding it could esaily get it from. The bottom of the lake is not one of those places. Now, perhaps we are to infer that the egg somehow communicated to Julia that it needed to be put under the lake in order to activate the ... whatever that pink stuff was, but if so, there was nothing in the episode to indicate that. Indeed, when the "alien" was explicitly asked for guidance, it (typically) offered bugger-all useul information.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'm sure all the kidnaping victims the world over will now be more sensitive to the trauma suffered by their captors. We should really sympathize with their pain, too. *rolls eyes*

    ReplyDelete
  63. I had written such a long message here, a really comprehensive message, but it appears to have disappeared. I hope it returns sometime, as it really was a long message, I would hate to lose it. Although I can't remember word by word what the message I wrote was, I will try a shorter, compact one.

I cannot understand how insensitive you are being. Kidnapping someone is not an easy thing to do, it's not "kicks and giggles" for any party involved. There is a psychological chain of thought that causes them to believe that kidnapping is the right thing for them to do. The victims of such kidnapping deal with their own psychological effects during and after such an event, and they should not sympathize or feel sensitive towards their captors (there is, however, a disorder called Stockholm Syndrome where kidnapped people actually fall in love with their captors and go to such lengths as defending them).

A trained, professional medical team should be sensitive towards them. They should have conversations with them to learn about what went through their minds to see what caused them to do what they did. That will help in preventing future circumstances where kidnapping could occur, and it will also help resolve future kidnappings in a better and quicker manner.

People like you, are people I hope never, ever become a medic of any kind. People who scream "The kidnapper was an idiot, that's what happened!" are ignorant. They take everything at face value, and these types of extraordinary situations are anything but easy. They are extremely difficult for all parties, with answers lying deep inside the human mind. The kidnapper may have gone through his or her pain, which may be the cause of their doing. Had we taken your advice, and just rolled out eyes and not really cared what the cause was, the world would be an even worse place than it is today. You, sitting on your computer here, can be thankful it's not your job to scan these captors to find answers. I am happy trained professionals are the ones who do that, because honestly, your comment was ignorant and downright insensitive to mankind. You may not have a psychological disorder, and you may think kidnappers are just retards, but there are a lot of people who have mental disorders and a chain of events that caused them to do what they did.

Again, I really hope my previous message shows up sometime, but this will just have to do...

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ay yi yi. Yes, by all means, we ought not to be insensitive to the plight of kidnappers. They have so much else going against them, the least we can do is try to feel their pain. If only we were more understanding of and sympathetic to terrorists and sociopaths, the world would be a much better place. Spare me.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Wow, did not think I would ever read a message with stupidity on that level. Can't quite comprehend what I just read, it's... I have no words, hahaha. Well, I'm glad I'm never going to meet you in real life. If you're not even going to try to understand this, and you're still trying to make this into something funny by twisting my words, then it's just not worth my time. I'm not here to argue this with you, I tried my best to make you understand life outside your little bubble, but that's it, you're not even trying to understand. So, for the good of the entire planet, please do not ever become a medic of any kind. I'm going to go enjoy my Saturday now.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yeah, but we don't know how, to me it wasn't that horrible.
