After that episode, im pretty sure Julia is the Monarch :) She got shot and right after it, the dome was angry, and when barbie saved her, the storm stopped.
I cannot believe they got rid of such a potentially awesome bad guy like Max but are keeping Junior around and devoting more time to him. Writers need a kick in the pants. Forcing Junior and Angie to work together sends a horrible message about being in an abusive relationship.
Wow. Linda's just really bad at her job. "Barbie let me see your gun. Its cold and no rounds have been fired." "Big Jim let me see your gun. Oh its warm and the clip isn't full". "Barbie you're under arrest." .... it couldn't be worse than that but somehow it is.
gave it an ok. uneven episode for me - felt really choppy due to the odd editing. and some of the writing left a bit to be desired, ie. Linda seems to buy into Big Jim's accusations of Barbie without asking for evidence and how he knows that Barbie killed Peter, Angie seems a little too gleeful/accepting to be in the foursome with the guy that essentially has been terrorizing her, Phil had been silent all this time and just then decided to be pointing the finger at Barbie to Linda... even though I'm fine with Max out of the way (big Jim is obviously the big bad here, Max felt too cartoonish and even as a baddie, she could've easily offed Julia with a head shot (hard not to miss when your target is right in front of you) and for all her tough talk, she should've immediately shot Big Jim for killing her mother, she didn't seem upset enough to me...
Damn, Linda is stupid. Her first conclusion was that Barbie must have killed Julia. If he did do that, then why the hell would he call her of all people and take Julia to the hospital. And she still thinks she can believe what Big Jim says? I hope she at least asks Julia who shot her when (if) she wakes up in the next two episodes.
Julia is obviously related to the dome somehow, I don't believe it was Junior who made the tornado stop.
I didn't expect Max to die just like that.
I didn't see the "the dome keepers" needing to kill big Jim. I don't know where the writers are going with this.
I wonder what the government/military wants with Barbie.
I believe Big Jim what have shot Linda there and then if she did try to take him in, and blame Barbie for it. But yeah, Linda is still the worst sheriff of all times.
What a waste of a great TV villain! This series is very "Hit or Miss" on the writing, but I'll finish the season. R.I.P. Max, Max's mom, and Max's business partner. 4 A WAY OUT THE DOME, I am still Nobody!!!
When it comes to television, we have to separate it from reality. There's a reason I don't watch crime shows - all of them send a message to the crowd that they are somewhat ignorant (walk around on crime scenes wearing regular clothes, hair in the wind and always caring more about when one of their own becomes a suspect than they ever would in a regular case). If we are going to analyze every TV show for bad messages, then good luck finding one that doesn't! I've tried finding one myself in the past, with no luck. Basically, television was meant to entertain, and that's it. So please don't give it real-life complications because it simply isn't meant to tackle real world problems.
I am betting on either Barbie or Julia to be the Monarch, but since she died for a minute and then came back, I believe the Dome is what resurrected her (because she is the Monarch perhaps?) Either way, I am betting on one of them.
TV shows could tackle real life problems realistically if the writers of shows invested time in doing so. But yeah, TV is TV. Not many shows are going to be realistic.
Finally some improvement, though some things still felt off. The ending was interesting. And it was about time they brought Junior's insanity back a bit. Still too many coincidences in the show. Every time Big Jim makes an announcement, all of a sudden everyone's listening to the radio. Also they need more background people, not just in the fight club. There's just 1 policewoman (Junior doesn't count), there's just 1 woman in the whole hospital - no doctors (they can't all be gone), there's just 1 councilman - where are all the other town officials? In the book we had at least 3 of them. The lack of people makes it much too easy for Big Jim.
But all in all I liked this episode better than the last ones.
But a simple examination of Big Jim's gun lying on the ground would have shown that it had JUST been fired with 2 dead bodies lying right there. Worst. Cop. Ever.
i thought it was so funny when joe told them it stopped because barbie saved julia, and junior got all cocky an jealous. lol he wants to feel important. and another reason for him to dislike barbie
Except that this also the heart and soul of Stephen King. He's not a afraid to show people bad relationships.
I can't say a lot about Junior without being spoilery to novel, not to mention I'm a few episodes behind here, but these writers are telling you a dark tale about people with a lot of problems, which is then amplified by something else...
According to the show, all of the town officials were in the plane that crashed. As far as the doctors go, there one was outside the dome, Julia's husband is dead, Alice is dead and I think the town had one more - who crashed (but I can't remember). (They should have a private practitioner or pharmacist - they haven't given any excuses for this.) As far as policemen go, they gave the excuse about the festival for the reason why they only had 5 cops originally. One went crazy, two got shot, one died and all you have left is Linda. The show gave the excuse you don't want to put a gun in the hand of a civilian and give him some control over the population, which is weak when you have so many people looting and worrying. You are right, they do need more background characters - the lack of these characters makes some things too easy. Just trying to point out they have somewhat acknowledge this area.
On a side note, I agree with you about the radio thing - but on the other hand, there is no TV, no internet, and no other radio shows. More people are probably listening to the only radio station available just for background noise (especially in public locations).
She was a great villain -- if she got over the whole "me and Barbie are meant to be" thing. Its fine if she had a crush on the guy - but I felt that they overplayed it and made her character weaker. That being said, she was one of the most efficient villains for only being in like 3 episodes. She was smart, well-hidden from the "good guys", and knew how to get the regular population on her side and take advantage of any situation. Perfect combination for any bad guy.
Agreed. And it helps to keeping up the pace. Otherwise news would travel too slowly. I can't remember the 5th cop. I can only think of Duke, Freddie, Linda and Paul. Who was the 5th again?
I kinda wish that Barbie had gone with Linda -- he could have easily had his hands checked for gun powder, which wouldn't have been there. Big Jim on the other hand, would have gun powder.
I'm not entirely certain that stuff is stored in the local police district? And even if it was, would Linda know how to use it? I don't know, just trying to figure out ways to answer it hehe.
Agree that the Dome had saved Julia -- it appeared she got better when Barbie gave up. He was just looking at her went all of a sudden her heart rate was perfect.
Trying to ignore the flaws in this show but its getting harder :( I basically skip over anything not to do with the 4 handies and the mini dome now. Its so bad
I would really like to know why the "dome four" are so eager to follow every whim of the dome even though it seems to be such a malevolent entity that had them entrapped and killed so many people ...
Max was definitely "more than" memorable, but you are right in that some of the character (Max) material was clearly written by the "B - team writers". If Max had not been killed off, she would be right up there with the "Cartel Madame" from "The Bridge" FX series IMHO. 4 A TOUR UNDER THE DOME, I am Nobody!!!
What i didn't get is why didn't Linda search around the house for clues or evidence bout Barbie and she would of found the insurance policy and figure it out that Julia hubby was planning a suicide attempt but as always writers like to stretch things out
Some of the dialogue was over the top corny and cheesy, but overall I gave it an OK.
The regular Angie, Junior, Linda related eye-rolling occurred. Also Norrie bugs me.
However, thank goodness, as usual if Barbie and Big Jim were in the scene there was a bit of a saving grace. I especially loved all the Barbie/Joe bits.
Sad to see Max go so fast. She was an interesting adversary and villain.
I think Julia is the monarch. She got shot, the storm started. She was revived the storm cleared.
Damn Doddee and running to conclusions. I believe the whole thing with the army looking for Barbie is them feeling reassured they have a guy on the inside...
I do like the theory that in order for the dome to come down Jim needs to die.... Wonder who will have to do it... Junior maybe? Oh! Murder suicide! If it rids us of Junior I willing to sacrifice Jim!
The mystery is all that's keeping me watching. I'm just not feeling the characters at all. This was a good episode in terms of drama and tension, but the only character I give a hoot about any more is Barbie... and maybe Big Jim
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteSo why exactly did Linda immediately buy into the "Barbie shot Julia" theory? That was stupid.
ReplyDeleteOther than the Junior stuff, I'm glad Max is dead, and I loved the episode!
I feel so, so bad for Barbie. I hope the distrust of Barbie doesn't go on for a long time. Big Jim is the Devil now.
ReplyDeleteWow. Linda's just really bad at her job. "Barbie let me see your gun. Its cold and no rounds have been fired." "Big Jim let me see your gun. Oh its warm and the clip isn't full". "Barbie you're under arrest." .... it couldn't be worse than that but somehow it is.

ReplyDeleteAt first I thought Barbie grabbed Evil Jim's gun, but after a rewatch you are right. This makes even less sense now.
ReplyDeletethey really need to recast linda i dont like her acting at all
ReplyDeletethey really need to recast linda i cant stand her acting

ReplyDeleteBarbie had Maxine's gun, and she fired it when the lights went out. So the gun would not clear him.

ReplyDeleteLinda is the worst cop in the history of tv shows. She's annoyingly stupid.

ReplyDeleteOops - I counted Carter as the 5th - but he was deputized by Linda. You are right, there was only 4.
ReplyDeleteRusty is a fireman who is outside the dome - his brother Freddy is a cop who died inside the Dome. Rusty is Linda's fiance.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely share your theory about it being Julia.
ReplyDeleteCause Linda is a horrible detective....
ReplyDeleteI'm done defending her. She's bad at this....
Some of the dialogue was over the top corny and cheesy, but overall I gave it an OK.

Linda I like you, but your are without doubt the worst policed agent in the world. Even Clancy Wiggum is better than you.
