Great episode, great twist, interesting new characters, interesting story about the change of atmosphere after the nuke events, the enemys are everywhere now. Awesome return for Revolution.
I just have one thing to say: to everyone who left the show during season 1, come back! Seriously, you're missing out. It was a different show in a lot of senses, I really loved the episode! I think it was the best or second best episode of the series so far (1x10), really great. I love how they are focusing on showing us more of this world instead of focusing so much on the lights aspect of it. I also love where all the characters are. All the storylines are very interesting. I did not see the twist with Aaron coming and I have no clue how Miles will get out of that. I am also eager for a Charlie/ Monroe dynamic. Excellent episode, really. Watch it, people. This is the show I always wanted it to be!
Why? I thought it was a great twist. Let's see how they explain it! I did not see it coming, I thought he was dead for sure, and fooling me like that is not something tv shows do often!
It is hardly a resurrection for me as a viewer if both the dead and the waking up took place over the course of 10 minutes and not multiple episodes (As in character is supposed to be dead, than it's not). Here I take it as a plot device. However, that's me, and it's a fair reason not to like it.
I was also sad they killed Aaron (at least temporarily). I need to go back and re-watch the end of last season. I feel like I'm missing stuff, even with the flashbacks filling in gaps. I liked the ep and the set-up for S2.
"Fireflies" - Iconic to FRINGE - The Observers were advanced in that they could better predict the outcomes of situations (the future(s)0, but the episode "The Firefly" (and Observer online comic) pointed out that even they can not always predict every outcome, as like with the story of Bobby and Roscoe Joyce, the little girl Madison, and young Peter, Madison's father, and the fireflies, there are just too many variables to predict all outcomes. (Fringe also lightly played with Nanites "Brave New World"/William Bell/Mr. X)
Another nod to Fringe might be "Gene", as this was [blue-sided) Walter Bishops' cows name(s) and is a wink to "genetics", but Stephen Collins is a medical doctor and his dialogue/mannerism is very similar to LOST's Dr. Christian Shepphard, but his surname name, Porter might also be reference to "Felicity'" as her father was Dr. Edward Porter and like Jack to Christian, he was important to her internal story...
Life extension is another iconic thing and I REALLY loved how they used it with Aaron here! I'm wondering if there is limit on when the heart stops and/or the way the body is in tact??? But the new mythos here is sweet!
They must have some kind of team talk after season one, and they have really turned this from what I would have described as 'A great idea, mediocrely executed' to 'wowzer, I'm glad I stuck with this show'.
I spent most of last season bitchin' on Charlie, and hoped she would be killed off, but I'm really digging the new Charlie. She's mature, she's independent, and she's on a mission.
I spent most of last season bitchin' on Aaron, and hoped he would be killed off, but when he took that breath at the end, I was actually glad. And now with the firefly thing, we have a real reason to be intersted in him.
I love the president's spokeswoman lady (did she say senator?). She has the most gorgeous eyes. After writing this, I'm going to Google the actress.
I hoped the electricity wouldn't stay on, and it didn't, I hoped Monroe would still be in it, and it looks like he will be. I hoped Rachel would stop it with the long face, feeling sorry for herself and... well okay, she's still doing that but my other wishes came true.
New threats, new purposes, new characters (I hope the sheriff becomes a regular). I really hope this is the start of a new era for this show.
"This is the show I always wanted it to be!" This. This perfectly sums up exactly the feeling I've got now. I still need to watch ep.2 to see if it holds up, but yes. so glad I stuck with it (I very nearly didn't... I took a break and only just binged the last 5 episodes a week or so ago because I was bored).
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
That was great! The changes they made were definitely for the better.
ReplyDeleteLOL at David Schwimmer being the only Friend actor to survive. Was not expecting that one.
Whoa at the end! Was expecting Aaron to survive, but I still jumped.
Sad they didn't play Bruce Springsteen, though.
Did I miss any country covers? I heard Tom Sawyer, Crazy Train and Smoke on the Water.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the episode. Seems like S2 will be really great. I'm so glad Aaron survived after all.
ReplyDeletereally liked the premiere. Things are defo looking up
ReplyDeleteIt was a good episode until the last 30 seconds. That scene is going to make me stop watching the show.

ReplyDeleteResurrections on shows like this annoy me.
ReplyDeleteWhat are they missing out on?
ReplyDeleteNow, now how can you not love the MAGIC of Eripke's writing?
ReplyDeleteIf I'm honest I have to say this episode only impressed me in how little it actually said or achieved in 42minutes.

(According to TVLine.com) it was a couple of hours. I just don't like that.
ReplyDeleteLoved it, changes were fantastic!!! XD
ReplyDeleteSome Bad Robot stuff:

Viva La Revolution.

ReplyDeleteIn my humble opinion, the second episode, which I watched today, it is as good or better than the premiere. Really holds up, give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI'm on it now. See you in the other thread ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat post man!
