LeVar Burton is slated to return as himself in an upcoming episode of Community. He previously appeared in Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking (episode 2.16). Chances are his cameo will occur in one of the few episodes (five) featuring his longtime fan, Troy.
Other returning guests include Rob Corddry (Alan Connor) in episode 5.01 and John Oliver (Professor Ian Duncan) in a recurring capacity - at least 6 episodes. Newcomers include Walton Goggins for one episode (as a mysterious man called Mr. Stone) and Jonathan Banks recurring in 11 episodes (as a criminology professor - 11 episodes, are they planning on having a full season already, because having a professor in 11 out of 13 episodes is a lot).

Community is one of the few returning series without a return date (much like Hannibal, Suburgatory and Nikita). Meanwhile, upcoming cult classics Sean Saves the World and Welcome to the Family will be on the air on NBC.
A return date on NBC, that is. Because the show has started to air on local stations since Sunday and starting tomorrow, 4 episodes will air each Friday at 9pm on Comedy Central !

S5 seems to be heading in the right direction
ReplyDeleteI get the feeling that the "upcoming cult classics" bits is just sneaky sassiness. If so, I love it.
ReplyDeleteHumour is so relative.I laugh out loud during Friends and The Big bang theory and find Community hilarious. First three seasons were top notch, and there were some stellar moments in season 4,and all that while getting a bad treatment from the network.I mean, they never know if they are going to be renewed or not. Love Community, hopefully it will reach at least 100 episodes by the end :D
ReplyDeleteI said that humour is relative because I can`t stop wandering how come this show is getting so little attention, and some shows I find not just -not funny- but plain boring and annoying have a lot more viewers and our even broadcasted all around the world.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I hope we get another Troy freakout because I was dying from laughter at the one linked here, one of my favorite moments from the show!
ReplyDeleteAnd Comedy Central! Even though you cancelled Futurama, I love you so much for the awesomely appropriate meta commercials about how little (aka, not at all) the show was and is promoted on NBC. Glad some network appreciates it! If NBC cancels it at the end of this season, which seems more and more likely (which I feel I say every season), Comedy Central should pick it up as their own!
That is a euphemism.
ReplyDeleteHope this regains the magic of the first two seasons. 3 and 4 had way too many gimmick episodes for my taste. Even if some of the gimmick episodes are among my favorites, gimmicks shouldn't be the standard.
ReplyDeleteWell that is just a fantastic banner :)
