This one really is not my cup of tea judging by the promos. I think it would have fit much better on Fridays with LMS to be honest, they look like they could appeal to the same audience, whereas Suburgtatory and Trophy Wife would look like a more reasonable midweek combo.
One might argue it's also a good match for Modern Family though....
Or maybe it's because they want to see what kind of an audience it will gather in the middle of the week, and if the fanbase is strong enough to follow the show to Firday....
Well to be fair, every family comedy in television would be a good match with Modern Family. But what you are describing about trying it in the middle of the week for a later friday move was the plan for LMS, so yeah, you might be right
" every family comedy in television would be a good match with Modern Family." - This is true.... which is why both LMS and The Neighbours were launched on Wednesday with Modern Family. It's a good way to get an audience, hopefully a loyal enough audience to follow the show during a possible move.
It is, but actually LMS was launched on Tuesday. And TN had its first episode only after MF. That is what is so puzzling about MF, they seem unable to use it to launch family comedies. Instead, they throw at it the most incompatible shows they have. Let's see: - 2009/2010: Cougar Town - Not a Family Comedy - 2010/2011: Cougar Town again - 2011/2012: Happy Endings (Season 2) - Not a Family Comedy and not even a first year show to build the audience | Apartment 23 - Not a Family Comedy and not even a fall launch - 2012/2013: Suburgatory - Finally a family comedy, even though it is a second year show which means chances of new people tunning in and stick with it are much lower. | How to Live with Your Parents - Yes, finally a new family comedy is launched here, but for some reason they only do it in spring, which is less likely to result in big numbers - 2013/2014 - Super Fun Night - We are back to not a family comedy at all, while the family comedies of Back in the game, Trophy Wife and the The Goldbergs are launched elsewhere...
IMO, they seem to have zero idea on how to use the slot.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI agree it's a much better fit with Last Man Standing... maybe if it survives the long term plan is to move it to Fridays...
ReplyDeleteYup...they did it... the sold me on this, I'm not even trying to hold back anymore. I'll definitely be checking it out.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, but it's strange why they didn't do it right away and threw the neighbors in there. Let's see.
