Grey's Anatomy - Patrick Dempsey Interview

Thanks to laura3341 for the heads up.
TVLINE | Is creating a little more flexibility in your Grey’s schedule important to you as you consider signing on for Season 11?
Everything is open to a conversation at this point. Grey’s has been such a remarkable ride. Shonda [Rhimes] has been incredibly supportive. I enjoy Grey’s more than ever in many ways. Our relationships have grown considerably. We’ve all matured over the last 10 years. So it would be a shame to end this.

Through the Years: Which Was Your Favorite? TVLINE | What is the current state of your negotiations?
We’re talking. We’ll see what happens.

TVLINE | What was your reaction when you heard Sandra was leaving?
We found out right at the end of the table read for the 200th episode. She took the cast aside individually and said, “I’m going to leave the show.” With any member of the show, especially the original cast, it’s always sad to see someone leave.

  2. Just end the show already, everyone knows its not what it was... its painful to see it die out like this. Patrick is very open to the fact is only staying on Grey's to fund his racing - which says it all when your main actor is only on the show for money not his desire to act out the writing.

  3. I dunno what to take of this. He seems willing to sign as long as enough money is given to him I guess.

  4. Difficult to act out piss poor writing.. I agree, let this coming season be the last.. As the standard is now, it's reflecting badly on seasons 1-9..

  5. Enough money and enough flexibility and freedom to do other things. I do think if the show goes into S11, he's going to sign on for x-amount of episodes and be bumped to a recurring player.

  6. Maybe, yes. People were predicting the same when he signed for season 9/10, so it is possible that it does happen now, we'll see.

  7. I also think it will depend a lot on what Ellen will decide to do... like if she choses to leave I don't see him bothering to stick around.

  8. I don't think he would take that as a deciding factor but ABC will probably have it. I think they are a package deal. It is too late to break them up and I doubt they would kill off one f them.

  9. I don't know what he'll do if she wants to stay, so in that scenario maybe she isn't that much of a deciding factor, but if she wants to leave I can see him following suit.

  10. If he drops back to recurring player his contract certainly wouldn't be of the same value it is now, would lose out big time. He has stated the money helps fund his racing. ABC also allow him to work his schedule around his racing date's, so why would he want to leave?
