Whoever submitted this doesn't understand the concept of a cult classic. A cult classic is a movie that most people haven't seen. Just about everyone of these movies is a well known movie. Now The Boondock Saints would make great television series on the right network.
I am not sure I like any of these as a miniseries idea altohugh the world of Blade Runner probably lends itself best to being able to make the transition.
2. Blade Runner 3. Total Recall 4. Galaxy Quest 5. Rain Man
Not on the list: 1. Big Fish (In fact I wish Tim Burton would have a TV series with film character cross-overs) 2. The Fifth Element 3. Super 8 4. High Fidelity 5. Zoolander 6. Cloverfield 7. Twelve Monkeys
Bonus: I know the list says non series films, but there was a Pirates of the Caribbean video game, (POTC: Armada of the Damned) that Disney had to drop for budget cuts a few years ago and I though the story, because it is a prequel and featured new characters, possibly a wink to the first Governor of Australia, would have made a cool TV series or comic book.
I can see Braveheart as a weekly TV series in the vein of Spartacus and V for Vendetta as a miniseries. FYI There was a Total Recall TV show made I think back in the 90's.
Dark City with Kiefer Sutherland is a good one. SubSpecies - the vampire film, though it may fall under film series generating three sequels and a spin - off! Omega Doom with Rutger Hauer could be another good one............Oh here's a good one Sy Fy channel web series "Falling Kingdom" and DayWalt Fear Factory's "Camera Obscura"! If you've seen these you already know what I'm talking about. 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I remain Nobody!!!
Last Action Hero would be another good TV series and Sy Fy's Dune - the mini series' were great especially the first one (Paul's story)! But what about Clive Barker's "Hell Bound Heart" novelette (not HellRaiser which would fall under film series with all the sequels) The only change I would make is Kirstie from the film over Kirstie from the book. This is a pretty cool poll question that should generate a lot of responses! I'll be back with more. 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I am Nobody!!!
Alan Moore hated the film adaption of his graphic novel "V for Vendetta" and so did I. I really hope a tv series of that abysmal film never will be a reality.
Great childhood classic to turn to a (mini) series, but Michael J. Foxx and Christopher Lloyd will F.A.T.S. be Marty and Doc for this childhood fan! 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I am Nobody!!!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
BACK IN THE FUTURE !! perfect
ReplyDeleteI'd watch that, too. John Noble for Doc. Also I'd kill for Galaxy Quest.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to make a top 3 it would be: 1) Blade Runner 2) Galaxy Quest 3) Back To The Future, lots of great potential in any of them. :)
ReplyDeleteV for Vendetta, Blade Runner and Galaxy Quest!
ReplyDeleteSuper 8

ReplyDeleteSerenity, that would be one way to get Firefly back.
ReplyDeleteV for Vendetta and Blade Runner (actually, the upcoming Almost Human seems like Blade Runner, so...)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would love a Cloverfield miniseries.
ReplyDeleteGrosse Pointe Blank, Clerks, Beetlejuice.
ReplyDeleteBill and Ted's Greatest Adventure
ReplyDeleteOn this list, I gotta go with V, but only as a miniseries.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure I like any of these as a miniseries idea altohugh the world of Blade Runner probably lends itself best to being able to make the transition.
ReplyDeleteI know you mean V for Vendetta, but when I read your comment my first thought was 'but V was already a mini series and series'
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched all the movies in that list, but from the ones I have watched I think it's gotta be V for Vendetta.
ReplyDeleteFrom the list choices:
ReplyDelete1. V For Vendetta
2. Blade Runner
3. Total Recall
4. Galaxy Quest
5. Rain Man
Not on the list:
1. Big Fish (In fact I wish Tim Burton would have a TV series with film character cross-overs)
2. The Fifth Element
3. Super 8
4. High Fidelity
5. Zoolander
6. Cloverfield
7. Twelve Monkeys

There's already been a Clerks series. It was animated and only lasted 6 episodes but was hilarious.

ReplyDeleteMousehunt made tom and jerry style.

ReplyDeleteSome interesting options, and some odd ones....
ReplyDeleteFrom the list I voted for: Blade Runner, Galaxy Quest, The Iron Giant, Finding Forester and Total Recall.
If I could get a sixth choice I'd add "Last Action Hero" too....
Great poll I picked Blade Runner and Total Recall, but I also think that the Matrix, Step Up or Dune would make good TV series.

ReplyDeleteI know, I have seen it.
ReplyDeleteI want live action.
Well we don't have to wait long. Kevin Smith just finished the script for Clerks 3 about a week ago.
ReplyDeleteSalem's lot.By the way,a Total Recall show was already done.
