Great numbers! Any second now CBS will give it the go ahead for S2..
ReplyDeleteDamn. Hoping this is good news for season two even with the ratings falling!
ReplyDeleteI might be wrong, but for a network summer show that sounds pretty good....
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a limited series?
ReplyDeletethat's how I understood it too
ReplyDeleteI read an interview with the producers,i think it was The Hollywood Reporter or tv guide i forget..anyway, they said they were hoping for a few seasons dependent upon the viewers and ratings.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how they'll do that if they do. The show they said is supposed to go on for months when the book was only a week long. I know the show is not the same as the book but they're quickly running out of supplies and resources even now. I can't imagine them lasting years with the Dome up.
ReplyDeleteI think if they do decide to make several seasons, each episode will probably take place over the course of 1-2 days because like you said I can't imagine them being stuck under the dome for years.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think is missing is a day counter. I think with a premise like this, a day counter would have been pretty neat.
I think CBS only wants this one season. Haven't heard a single word about renewal for this show. I think they are really close to finishing the filming by now. Honestly, I am hoping it will be just this season. I suspect there aren't enough characters or storylines to keep going for a season 2. I would rather have an excellent series with 1 season than a show with 2 seasons with the 2nd one being complete crap.
ReplyDeleteI suspect filming is almost done by now, and with no word on renewal, I wouldn't bet my money on a S2.
ReplyDeleteYeah, a day counter would have been a good method of keeping track of the time.
ReplyDeleteThey keep talking about more seasons.
ReplyDeleteIts still possible, they could have put something in their contracts. And besides if its only a summer series they still have time to shoot for next summer....
ReplyDeleteI really don't know how they could work it,but they did say they had the material and that they could see it going for a few seasons.. That could possibly be one reason we don't know how long they have been under the dome, why it hasn't been stated,as of yet anyway?
ReplyDeleteI'm just not sure it should be longer. I didn't really like the idea of The Following having more episodes. I feel certain plots can only go on so long before it gets unrealistic or dragged.
ReplyDeleteThough I think Under The Dome has more going for it than The Following for storyline anyway.
I expect CBS is hearing season 2 pitches right now and a renewal will be coming soon. The ratings pretty much guarantee a renewal, especially since the show runners were planning on it to begin with. A 2.7 demo for a summer show is monstrous.
ReplyDeleteA 2.7 demo in the summer is excellent. NBC would die to have ratings fall to that number. Ratings pretty much guarantee that CBS wants a second season.
ReplyDeleteEverything I hear is about season 2 and possibly season 3 when there are interviews for this show. For me a second season might even be better because then they can start concentrating on some of the characters I feel are being shafted.
ReplyDeleteYeah, personally i don't know if they should go for a second season? The promo for whats ahead is pretty telling. If the military plans on hitting the dome with a missile and that doesn't work whats left...just a nuke.So it would be the end anyway.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be cool if they focused on different characters more in the second season. They will have to tighten up the time frame more to make it work though.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I feel like it's one day per episode but I know someone who thought it could be a month in already and originally I think Stephen King's interview said this season would cover about a month. It would be nice to know for sure though because something's only work if it's been a short time and others seem to work better if it's been longer. Maybe that's why they aren't telling us.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think the Following would have done better if they stuck with Joe, Claire, and Ryan dead in season 1. Then they could have made season two about the hunt for Emma with Mike and a new (hopefully competent) FBI agent on board. Then every season afterward would be a different cast with a different serial killer to pursue. That would have made the series far more interesting to me. As it is, I am not likely to watch season 2, definitely not live.
ReplyDeleteLive +7 means absolutely nothing but it's overnight demos are fantastic too. It is the hit of the summer.
ReplyDeleteWell you can't get numbers like that if your live numbers are decent to begin with.
ReplyDeleteAll also argue that +7 means nothing anymore. I feel nowdays it does factor in somewhat. Not much, but it's not so easel dismissed anymore.
It has zero benefit for advertisers so they don't pay for it. TV's a business and anything that doesn't make money is only good for press releases.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know how TV works thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy point is the TV model has been changing in the last few years and in that model +7 has meaning.
For one it's a good indicator that for the studio it might result to good DVD sales. And studios, that do pay quite a bit of the production cost, like DVD sales.
I'll also question the advertisers bit. You forget product placement (granted I don't know if there's any deal for this show specifically - though IMO that toyota Julia is driving has been very prominent - but I'm speaking generally about the notion.)
That wasn't my issue. I don't want Ryan to die. My issue was more with how much focus was on Joe and made him the big villain, it now feels like the followers will be easy as pie to take down, except for maybe Emma (compared to him).
ReplyDeleteWell there are other ways than brute force to try to get The Dome down. I don't think brute force is going to be the answer.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest issue was that the FBI was always losing, which made them all look incompetent. It's no fun when you know the heroes are going to screw up again and the bad guys will get every win for the first 7 episodes. They need to balance the wins out to make it more realistic.
ReplyDeleteActually, that was my biggest issue too. The bad guys always winning gets tiring.
ReplyDeleteYes. It also makes it hard for you to root for the good guys because they seem so incompetent.
