Since the Favorite Show Contest has not started yet, we might as well continue. Round 1 is finished and we now have 127 fewer quotes in the contest. One of those we had to say goodbye to is Bobby's "idjits" right before he died. Sadly, it lost by 2 votes. Other close contests were Sam saying that the Winchester family history was pretty dark, which had 46% of its poll's vote, and Dean telling Sam to marry Sarah, which garnered 45% of the vote. For the most part though, these polls were won decisively. Today we start round 2 and in the interest of getting the contest done before New Year's, we are going to do 16 polls a day for this one also. Round 3 will have less polls per day. Round 2 will be a little tricky because we will probably be doing it whenever the Favorite Show contest is not running. 1. I expect "saving people, hunting things" to win by a lot so I'm voting for okie dokie. I like both.
ReplyDelete2. I find witches just as unsanitary as Dean on SPN but Bobby calling them morons makes me laugh more. It gets my vote. Plus I'm still irked that "idjits" is out.
3. Sam's quote is funny. Dean's quote is the start of the show. I'm going with Sam on this one.
4. Liquor store is funnier than ammo but ammo may be John's best quote of them all.
5. Boop - it's shorter.
6. Both these quotes make me laugh but the "blah blah blah blah" one is a classic to me and something I occasionally say in my head at boring meetings to entertain myself.
7. No doubt for me. Sam's "low sodium freaks" is one of my favorite Sam quotes. It beats out anything from TMatEotB for me by a mile.
8. Hmm…funny fruit basket or IntenseDean protecting Sammy. Tough choice but today I am in a big brother mood so my vote goes to Croatoan

ReplyDelete10. I appreciate Jensen's acting in DaLDoM but that quote is far too depressing. Metallica and a little insight into early Dean gets my vote.
11. For once I'm going with the long quote. I love that even alternative world Sam was going to be there to help his brother no matter what.
12. I love that these two are going against each other because that means one long emoangsty quote is guaranteed to be out next round. Hopefully it will be the graveside one because it was the worst thing about my favorite episode. I actually like the phone call to John and it is much shorter.
13. I dislike both of these quotes and they are both popular so again I am glad they are going against each other. No vote from me.
14. Finally a long, emoangsty quote I want to vote for. I thought the scene in AHBL2 was one of the best acting in the entire series. Also I find the other quote a bit disrespectful to the awesomeness that was Dana Scully.
15. I have little hope that the Pilot quote will win here but it sums up the best of the series to me. They are each capable hunters but they would rather face evil together.
16. Not so crazy about the salt quote so it's Sam's apology and Dean's snark for the win.

5 --- The dialog from Yellow Fever was great dialog and a great scene in a great episode. Doesn't work as all as a *quote*. Stoned Sam gets the vote, though I think it works for me more because it's a reminder of the scene than a stand alone quote. I think my favs in this competition are great quotes out of context.

ReplyDeleteI love this quote too because it is essentially Supernatural. They are both excellent hunters and they could do it alone, but being there for their brother is what makes it worthwhile. This show cannot work without the principles of this quote. So sorry it is losing.
I am not a fan of long, emoangsty speeches in general but I agree that Dean's speech at the beginning of AHBL2 is epic. People talk about Jensen and Jared being robbed of an Emmy all the time and normally I agree to a small degree but not passionately. In that case, he was definitely robbed because of the network the show is on. What a shame.
ReplyDeleteI think for a lot of us, we are putting the quotes in context and then voting. You are right. For many of them the words are not that special but when you combine the delivery, reactions, and what's going on in the scene, the quote suddenly becomes much more than the words. The best example of this is "I lost my shoe."
ReplyDeletePlaythings isn't my favorite as I prefer drugged Sam to drunk Sam, but it was a great funny moment in the middle of a meh episode. I kind of hope they have Dean and Sam either drunk or stoned again in the future since that is always funny.
ReplyDeleteI am good with this line winning the entire thing because more than any other quote, it encompasses the heart of Supernatural. If I had to sum up the series in one line, this would be my choice.
ReplyDeleteCertainly being on the CW doesn't help if an actor is hoping for 'serious' awards but they have given so much entertainment to so many fans that Jared and Jensen deserve far more recognition than what they have had.

Shows on other networks get gushed over far more and they are no better than SPN has been.
I am hoping that once Supernatural ends they both get to show a larger world their talents. Not that I'm wanting Supernatural to end anytime soon. I just hope they are able to find other jobs when it does.
