Yesterday saw the defeat of many of the shortest quotes in the contest, but it was very close in several polls. Losing by only 3 votes was Sam telling Gordon that only Dean could call him Sammy. That makes the second quote from Bloodlust in a row to barely miss round 2. Also close with 48% of their polls' votes were Dean and Michael bonding over being big brothers and John giving Sam a gun when he was 9. All 3 were awesome quotes. Today marks the last day of round 1. Unless the plan has changed, the Favorite Show contest should start tomorrow. Woo hoo! I hope you all enjoy participating in that one as much as I do. The key of course is to get the word out fast and far. Supernatural has always done well in this contest. If the Favorite Show competition is delayed, we will start round 2 until it begins. Last set of polls for round 1. Woo hoo! It's been a big 8 days but we will have narrowed down half of the original list. As we go on hiatus, don't forget to vote in he Favorite Show contest and pass the word to everyone you know. The bigger the contest is, the more fun we have.
ReplyDeletePoll 49 - It will have to take something very powerful to beat "No chick flick moments" for me. This is the one words to live by that I really wish they had stuck with. I love that Skin quote but ending emoangsting is a top priority for me.
Poll 50 - Again the best quotes seem to always go against each other. I love this matter of fact, kick butt Dean in The Magnificent Seven, but I miss the sheer snarky fun of the early seasons. Where did that snark go? Mr. Rodgers gets my vote but I won't be disappointed if either wins.
Poll 51 - Oh I definitely think it's because Sam and you are awesome Dean. And this is a much more awesome quote than the overrated fairy one.
Poll 52 - Big Bad Wolf beats bowhunting. Well unless you are in the Hunger Games.
Poll 53 - I would love to vote for a great Sarah quote but they keep coming up against some of the best ones in the series. Dean's phone call to Bobby when he thinks Bobby is dead is classic Supernatural and angst without the excessive emo. It gets my vote hands down.
Poll 54 - Don't die is a hilarious, Winchester kind of plan that would normally get my vote, but it's going against the panic room man. It's hard to beat the panic room.
Poll 55 - I am going to buck tradition and vote for IntenseDean over WeepyDean because I like him better. The exorcism of Meg is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series.
Poll 56 - The Nightmare dark spots quote is just stupid. Glad there is a much better choice with the Asylum quote where Sam is not going to kill Dean. We wouldn't want it to be awkward.
Poll 57 - Demon Dean's quote with intense and mytharc and all that, but "eat me" made me laugh. Plus it's not going to win. I deserves my vote.
ReplyDeletePoll 58 - Sam looks back at a bleeding out Dean and then tells John there are things more important than revenge. How can anything top that? That is the brother bond at its core. Nothing angel related can ever even come close.
Poll 59 - I detest TMatEotB with a passion but brooding shoulders is funnier than the Route 666 quote.
Poll 60 - I love a good Wizard of Oz reference too but Andy making Dean tell the truth was funny and actually important in getting things out in the open.
Poll 61 - Ugh, another "kill me now" choice. I adore "clowns kill" but "idjits" is Bobby's last word, a profound statement of love for the Winchesters as only Bobby could put it. I think I'm going to have to go with Bobby here.
Poll 62 - IntenseDean beats Paris Hilton ANY day, especially since the partner quote to this one, "Welcome to next time," got undeservedly kicked out already.
Poll 63 - Crowley gets my vote if only because it's just as funny but it's shorter. Still love the Kate and Dean scene though.
Poll 64 - This is back before freak became a loaded word with all kinds of nasty connotations in Supernatural but it still has a bit of a negative feeling for me. I'm going with ghosts over rats because I completely agree.
I am really getting sick and tired of all these Supernatural polls on this site. First there were the "Favorite Season 8 episode" and then the "Favorite X Character's episode" and now these "favorite quotes" polls that just don't seem to end. Please stop!!!

ReplyDeleteI love that Mr. Rogers line. It's one of the best lines by a one-time guest star for me. It has no chance of winning but I'm glad it made it in to the contest just because it brings back great SPN memories.

ReplyDelete#63 - Dean threatening Grandpa Creepy gave me goosebumps the first time I saw it. It still does. So chilling.
It wouldn't take much to do better than season eight and I hope the showrunners have worked out a season-long story arc which is thrilling , logical and respectful of the characters and the past history of the show.

Yeah, Dean was really chilling there but gramps deserved it.
While I really enjoy season six, there are many threads that could have been better explored like the Campbell family. I wish they hadn't all been killed off.
Gwen for instance coiuld have been a good secondary character still. She was family after all and a good hunter.
I would rather have had her than Krissy or the casual hunter that the brothers knew from the past, llike James the dog-owner!
Ha! Thanks. If the job of "canon consultant" ever opens, I have my application ready. Sadly, I think they find canon to be an inconvenience best to be ignored except on those occasions when it allows them to do whatever the heck they want. By the time Gwen was killed off, I had had enough of the entire Campbell clan and just wanted them all dead. I do agree however that she was vastly better than James. I think it's a toss off between her and Krissy. They both had times of equal annoyance.
ReplyDeleteThese writers manage to contradict their own canon in the same season, so they won't care about steam-rolling over past canon, but it's a shame that they don't pay more attention to the history of the characters and the show they write for.

I didn't mind Gwen too much.
Although she wasn't to sympathetic at the beginning, she got a bit better as the season progressed.
It is hard to smash your own canon within a few episodes, but these guys ARE that talented. :-) For me it depends on the adult and the teen which one I'd rather see. The Ghostfacers are technically adults. I agree Gwen got better over the season, but she started as my least favorite. Christian did take that mantle from her pretty quickly though. I preferred Mark, the Campbell that kept his mouth shut. Of course he would be the first to die. Argh!

I admire actors that can make you hate them and Christian certainly did well on that score.
As I said, I didn't mind Gwen, she wasn't particularly well-treated by gramps either; he lied to her too, and that sort of made me feel for her.
I have to say that I am biased when it comes to Corin Nemec because no evil character he plays will ever compare to Harold in The Stand. Everything else feels evil light. I would actually be surprised if the Ghostfacers appeared. It is far more likely Missouri will abruptly show up for no reason.

What gets me most, however is the looming presence of Castiel and the angel story. I can see us being subjected to Castiel in all shapes and forms as he asks advice on how to be human or naively puts salt in his coffee instead of sugar, or maybe now that he's human, Dean will take him out for another night on the town. Things too horrible to be contemplated.

I thought I read an interview somewhere that Carver liked the actress who played Missouri and we know he likes to recycle actors. Maybe he could bring her back as someone else. I don't think the tweet was anything more than the actor having his TV show canceled and looking for more work. It certainly wasn't from the production side. I agree with you about Castiel though. He is likely to have the biggest role of any season in the next one. Probably bigger than all other seasons combined given the circumstances. My guess is the first Cas-light episode you'll get is episode 3 and that's only because it's likely the one that Misha will direct.

ReplyDeleteIs it because the J's want more time off, or is it because TPTB love the Castiel character so much, or maybe because they feel that Sam and Dean's story-line has become stale and has nothing else to give.
Just what is the big attraction for Castiel, and I can't believe it's because a couple of fans send in feathers to the producers.
Jensen and Jared have never been shy about hos long their hours are or how they like having other characters around to help carry the weight. Now that they are both family men, my guess is that is the prime reason Misha is now a regular. However it could very well be partly because they are having trouble making Dean and Sam's story fresh. Even they have to be bored recycling old plots and they have not show that they can do something new with the characters, which would be a relief. It was NOT because of feathers. That much I can promise.

Will he have his own story-line to maybe go searchfor God; will he be in the back-seat of the Impala; will he go off and settle down with his second wife; will he lead the graceless angel army against Metatron or will he go on a solitary quest to get his grace back?
Well, if it becomes the Castiel show, I wonder what that will do to the ratings? Up or down? All will be revealed in October!
Personally I think Castiel will have his own storyline with the angels and also help out on the brothers' cases. Thus far Castiel's appearance has done absolutely nothing with the ratings. They don't go up or down when he shows up. I imagine the ratings will be slightly lower next season due to the move to Tuesdays (0.8-ish) but they should stay pretty steady throughout the season. They always do.
