Supernatural - Season 9 - Latest From Comic-Con

SNEAK PEEK | A Season 8 sizzle reel, set to Doobie Brothers’ “Rockin’ Down the Highway” (watch below) was followed by a first look at the new season, which features Kevin freaking out in the Men of Letters bunker. When Dean enters, the prophet almost shoots him with an arrow. “You’re a crappy shot, Katniss,” Dean remarks before Sam brings in a bagged-and-cuffed Crowley. They want the name of every demon possessing a human, and they have a plan to get them by putting Crowley in his “own personal hell”: Isolation.

ANGEL MADNESS | “We’re going to learn pretty quickly that a world full of fallen angels is pretty much a free-for-all,” previewed Carver. “We’re going to see it’s not one unified body. We’ve got lots of angels out there with lots of different agendas. Many are feelings lost and vengeful. A world of fallen angels is a dirty, bloody, scary and, in some ways, a very human world.”

I'm really looking forward to what they have planned for the angels.

  3. Misha is directing episode 9.17

  4. Will we see Jesse again? Carver said not really any immediate plans but “no character is forgotten.”

  5. “The path of the fallen angels intersects with the Winchesters in a very big way this season. I think you’re going to see angels and demons up the wazoo this year. It’s going to be really interesting,” Carver said. “I think you can look forward to the boys being knee-deep in angel problems this year.”

  6. A fan asked if we’ll ever learn where angels and demons go when they die and Carver said that’s definitely something they would like to explore.

  7. The moderator asked if Cas would learn to drive the car. Misha the actor isn’t going to drive it and Castiel the character isn’t going to drive it,” Singer explained. Jensen cut in that he doesn’t even like when the teamsters drive it.

  8. What keeps Dean ticking? Ackles says “It’s very trying. Dean has been through a lot in the last [counting numbers] number of episodes. I think what keeps him motivated and pushing on is his sense of duty to fight the good right. It’s his duty to his brother and his family and what he signed on to do. When he got back from Purgatory last season [he liked that storyline a lot], there was a real sense of clarity to his mission and he knew that that is why he’s there, to fight that fight and be alongside that brother and driving that beast of an automobile down a highway and rocking out to some true rock and roll.” Padalecki says that Sam is always trying to do the best thing, but sometimes he fails. “Sam is just trying to do what he thinks is right” and he believes Sam has finally started to accept his life isn’t normal.

  9. Felicia Day makes a surprise appearance after Singer jokingly badmouths her. “Obviously Felicia will be back. We love her and we have big plans for her this year,” Singer said. “I’m thrilled to be back,” Felicia said. “This is the first time I’ve been in Hall H. I think it’s amazing when you have a gift of a character you want to play all the time. And I’m blessed to be working with these men with amazing hair.”

  10. “I feel this show needs a Teflon vagina,” Felicia jokes. “What’s why we have Mark Sheppard,” Jared retorted.

    ReplyDelete
  11. When asked if Jim Beaver is returning, Carver said “I think Jim also tweeted he’s coming back in a way you wouldn’t guess and wouldn’t expect and that’s pretty much how I’d leave it.”

    ReplyDelete
  12. “The Men of Letters for Dean is a home,” Singer said. “For Sam it’s a workplace and he doesn’t think of it as home….and that’s something we’ll be exploring more fully this season.” And he also talked about how there are rooms we haven’t seen yet.

  13. “Whatever happened to Crowley at the end of season 8, has had a profound effect on him, whether he likes it or not,” Sheppard said, “Hopefully we’ll go on a little journey to find out what kind of an effect it had on him.”

  14. With regards to CA “it’s a remarkable shift for Castiel, because prior to the beginning of this season he’s been equipped with all sorts of powers that has made him a very useful tool for the brothers. Now he can pop in and basically fold laundry. There’s shift in the dynamic there in terms of how he can be utilized by the brothers at the outset of the season. For Castiel’s arc as a character this season, it’s going to be an immensely rich terrain to explore. We’ve sort of, in past seasons, tested those waters a little bit. Now he’s really down in the dirt and the filth of being a human. There’s a really great bathroom scene,” Misha and Jared said.

  15. The moderator asks about the brothers’ relationship in season 9. Carver says that “one of the interesting things about the end of last season is that the first thing in a long time the brothers chose each other and their love for each other in exchange of the season-long quest. That has left them stronger than ever but has created a tremendous amount of fallout, particularly at the beginning of the season. The brothers are walking into a world where all of the normal constructs of Heaven and Hell aren’t the same.” Padalecki says “We did chose each other and to keep fighting the fight together” and then thanked the fans for their support. “In this free-for-all world, we’re really gonna need each other more than ever.”

  17. Harry Potter reference from Jared

Singer says they gave Crowley the ability to teleport because he had worked his way up the demon ladder and that was a perk. “It’s like when Voldemort learned how to fly,” Padalecki said.

  18. I got a question, I was rewatching previous Supernatural episodes and it came to me: what happened to Sam when he died in season 2? It didn't seem like he went to heaven or hell or anywhere, just black. Is it one of those continuity errors considering heaven didn't exist back then during the early seasons?

    ReplyDelete
  19. In season 5 'Dark side of the Moon' the angel Joshua implies that Sam and Dean have both been to heaven numerous times, I think that suggests pretty heavily that Sam went to heaven.

  20. I really doubt if this show is gonna get any interesting than 8 season!! I may watch this show, but just to make fun of it!!

  21. From Laura Prudom's (Huffington Post) synopsis of the S9 clip shown:

"SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS Season 9 clip: Dean enters the
Men of Letters bunker, Kevin is there and fires a crossbow at him. Kevin hasn't slept or eaten for days, and is oversharing about his bowel movements. Dean tells Kevin that the angels fell and that the next time the world's ending, he should grab a gun. Sam comes in, seems healthy enough, has Crowley with a bag over his head and his ears covered. They take the bag off his head and punch
    him.

"You're giving us the name of every demon on earth and who they're possessing," Sam insists. Crowley says he's not giving them anything -- they've got no leverage. Sam says they're just going to leave him alone until he gives them what they want -- being stuck in solitary with no one to talk to must be his own personal hell. Seems correct -- Crowley looks concerned, then bored. We fade to black.

  22. from what I got from Jeremy Carver

-In episode 1 Sam is still sick
-In episode 2 Sam is looking much better and is basically 'cured'
-Dean makes some big decisions early in the season that will drive the mythology of the season
-Those decisions involve keeping secrets from Sam
-Dean finds something big about Sam and keeps it from him the secret drives Dean's decision making
-the key to the whole thing is how Sam is cured

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh whoopie Sam gets mysteriously cured then pissed that Dean kept secrets from him while guessing Dean runs around trying to keep Sam cured.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I do not think complaining about Sam getting angry if Dean keeps a secret is actually warranted. Considering the amount of times that Dean has been angry at Sam over lies and keeping secrets . But I wouldnt worry I am sure there will be those who will be pissed at Sam for being pissed at Dean for keeping something a secret as it was for a good reason and well Sam cant just cant .

    ReplyDelete
  25. sorry where does it say Sam gets pissed at Dean???.....

    ReplyDelete
  26. yep, .....sigh....another post, another chance to slag Sam off and for something he has even done yet???

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm not complaining about Sam. I'm complaining that if Dean keeps a secret or from Sam, when he does spill, like he always does Sam will get pissed at best or will end up doing something that has far reaching consequences at worse.

It is a repeat story theme we have seen on more than one occasion from the writers- last year about Benny, Dean kept quiet and Sam went off the deep end and then text gate, year before that Dean keeps the fact he killed Amy a secret, Sam goes off on his own till he forgives Dean and Dean grovels, season 4 the bit about Dean not willing to share about hell, he does about how hell affected him and in the end it is part of Sam's justification for going with Ruby - Dean isn't the same since he came back from hell.

All of these had Dean keeping secrets from Sam and then having a 'huge' effect on the story by causing either grovelling on Dean's part or having Sam bounce in a completely opposite direction so making him look like a twonk.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Just going by past experience, can you name me one time that Dean kept a big secret, even one that didn't pertain to Sam and when Sam did find out he wasn't either annoyed irritated or pushed to do something that had far reaching consequences? Even when Sam found out about what John told Dean there was the big drunk scene about him getting Dean to promise to kill him. Not counting the possession, the possession didn't count even if Dean did think Sam had ran away.

But hey if they do something different great, but just going by what they have put on screen before.

  29. I've only half watched S8 but I will do a proper catch up before the show premieres, because I think there's some interesting stuff coming up.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Grovelling on Dean's part I see so that is how it is viewed . So I did not see Dean grovelling over Amy but maybe we saw something different. So Dean does something but cannot be held responsible for it . Sam reacts to it and he is either so far in the wrong that even if he feels the need to walk away he is selfish or he makes Dean grovel.

No maybe Dean hasnt been the same since hell but whatever made this fandom ever think that Sam would be the same after Dean sold his soul and went to hell to bring him back?. What made Dean think that ?.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I say that there is a trend used by the writers to give Dean a secret and when he is finished angsting about and spills (which he always does) that Sam reacts negatively and you go into a full blown defence of Sam? Calm the kegs please!

I am saying that I am sick of the whole lets write 'Dean being eaten up by a secret and then have Sam blow or do something stupid using the secret keeping as a justification while Dean treads on egg shells' It is annoying and just seems a quick way to angst the brothers relationship that isn't really a way to tell a story.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh little add on Jared apparently says that Sam ain't going to be happy at Dean.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Dean didn't grovel about Anna. He basically told Sam to quit being a "bitch" about it and to get over it, which is what Sam did.

I am glad that Crowley didn't escape and this is going to be interesting whatever direction this goes with him.
Its nice to see Kevin again and the angels sound pretty action-packed.
