Sadness and excitement marked the final Comic-Con panel for The CW‘s spy show Nikita, which is set to come to an end with a six-episode midseason wrap-up. “It’s bittersweet,” said showrunner Craig Silverstein, who was joined at Comic-Con by cast members Maggie Q, Shane West, Lyndsey Fonseca, Melinda Clarke, Aaron Stanford and Noah Bean. “I’m just glad we’re able to end it and bring it to a full close. Knowing that it’s going to finish lets us finish it with a period — hopefully an exclamation mark.”
The network’s decision to end the spy drama after three seasons came as a mixed blessing. Unlike many cancelled series, the cult hit will at least get to end with some closure. “My heart hurt because I have a very deep love for [the cast] and I’m going to miss them,” said Maggie Q. “We get to end this show with such integrity and with our heads high.” Filming on the fourth season is underway. The abbreviated run will accelerate the pace of Nikita‘s storytelling, said Silverstein. “What it means is you get right to the good stuff. [Most seasons] end with things happening one after the other, [but] that’s how we’re going to start this season.”

Sadness for us all. It always baffled me why this show never got a much larger audience.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely miss Melinda Clarke and the rest :( How is it shows like Supernatural and Smallville last so many seasons and this will be only 4????
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I didn't know how much longer it could lengthen the story. I saw the show lasting, at most, 5 seasons. The show has a unique way of giving its storyline a new purpose each season, but anything longer than five seasons would have been stretching it.
ReplyDeleteA couple stories are going to be crammed into finishing (like the Owen/Sam identity thing), but these six episodes are going to be AWESOME. Season 3 suffered from too much filler, especially in the first half or so with the Dirty Thirty, so at least the show will finish on a high, flourishing, hopefully explosion-filled note.
ReplyDeleteI wish they had around 10-13 episodes to finish it, cause 6 really isn't a lot and Nikita deserves better. But it is what it is and we should be grateful that we even have these 6 episodes, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI said it before: it's great that they were given the opportunity to get closure, for the story and the fans.
