Cote de Pablo is invoking Gibbs’ Rule No. 11 — “When the job is done, walk away” — and has decided to leave CBS’ NCIS.

The actress — whose contract expired at the end of Season 10 — will appear at the start of Season 11 (premiering Sept. 24) to conclude Ziva’s story.

    Damn. Color me surprised. This is disappointing but, on the bright side, I won't have to see or hear the word "Tiva" anymore.

    Man this took me by surprise at first, but thinking about it and how she wasn't signing up right away, should have said something. This is going to be huge and I wonder who they could get to replace her. It is going have to be someone strong, but at the same time the actress will can't have the same type of relationship with everyone either. It will be hard for anyone to move in.

    so does she have so super illustrious movie career she running off to? if i was an actress and my show keeps getting picked up damn right im staying until they pull me off the sound stage. I actually enjoy Cote but i am pleased i dont have to hear about Ziva and Tony anymore Never was a fan of them shipping

    I am not sad to see her go as I was not a Tiva Shipper or Mossad fan. I believed both took too much away from the other characters.

    I only wish CdP the best in whatever path she decides to take.

    I hope that they don't bring in a permanent replacement for Ziva. I really enjoyed the 3 person team from S1. Let them bring in a recurring character to help with a case every once in a while like with Jardine, Paula, Dorney,

    I'm so sad. Without Ziva and running against Shield, NCIS is not gonna be the top show anymore :( and I will stop watching as well. She was my fav and I only liked Tony interacting with her (Tiva!).
    I would love to cry right now, but I'm being watched... I'm in a public place!

    I wonder if she wanted to leave or if they didn't want to pay her more money... I hope we get to see her on screen again.

    I'm not sure how I feel about this, like Ziva, fed up with Tiva... I know they're not gonna do it, but for me the replacement should be Dorney, that will completly changed the dynamic!!! I wonder how Tony will feel about that!!!!

    This will be very interesting and bring some new life to the show. They could do a rotational new person to the probie position ala Bones. Im guessing the new character if there is just one will be female to keep up some gender dynamics. Expect multiple issues of a certain lab tech being sad, Gibbs working on a new project and Tony having long deep gazes at an empty chair.. as he did with the previous occupier.

    Hope they replace her with someone cool, cause honestly I never was a fan of Ziva, Kate was so much better!!!!
    Also hope they will now give Tony a real love interest without a conflict of interest!!! I want to see him in a real mature realtionship!!!

    It's so funny, the only main characters that left NCIS were all females. Two were murdered and one's fate is still in question until s11 starts.


    I love Ziva, yet this is proving Abby is the strongest female character NCIS has ever had.

    Finally. Thank you. Oh, I really liked Ziva, but this Tiva stuff was getting on my nerves. I loved Tony when he was the serious guy in the relationship way back when he was doing the undercover work.

    Now, with Ziva, he is just stupid. Hope his character can develop now.

    Such a bad news :/ I was not really a fan of Tiva, but I actually liked Ziva ...
    I hope they won't get someone new to replace her like they did with Kate, it's too late in the show to get to like a whole new character ... What about bringing back Dorney as a senior agent ?

    I'm feeling exactly the same. So disappointed.
    I don't care at all about the "Tiva" relationship since season 8, when they made clear that it would never happen until the end of the show.
    But Ziva is my fav character and i really enjoyed a lot this team all together.

    What a shame to break that chemistry!

    I agree, Sam. Ziva is an excellent character. Ziva and Tony, as friends, colleagues, and the like are excellent with and for each other. As wannabe lovers...just: no!
    Hopefully Tim will get some more airtime. His partnership with Tony is really a lot of fun. I'm tired of him being the butt of all the jokes. Even last season, after nine some years and apparently he can't even casually look around him without tipping off counter-surveillance.
    Maybe, just maybe, Tim McGee will be given some more of the actual heavy lifting, not only case-wise but in the emotional, character development sort of way. Bring in someone new and let us slowly get used to her (you know it's going to be a female), but don't have her take over.
    Here's hoping.
    I will miss CdP very much. She was an excellent part of the team.

    Most people on here aren't acting suicidal over the news that is good. I was reading at one place and everyone was jumping ship and going to watch the Sheild, which may or may not be any good. We already the know who well NCIS works, with or without Cote. While I enjoy Cote, maybe it is time for the character to move on. Cote feels it is time to move on. When it wasn't announced that she would be back for this season at the end of last season, I thought something was up. Though she was going around with Mark and Michael and friends when they were doing the network announcements at end of May there, which made it seem like they planned to work things out. However I am glad the Tiva thing will end. I was never a fan of that. So good luck Cote and looking forward to seeing what the writers and actors will bring us in the new season. Unlike some 'fans' I will not abandon the show because one actress is leaving. The show is so much more then her.

    That's why I always say these types of relationships either wreck a story or end like this....if anyone here watches New Girl....just keep watching and you will see the Jess and Nick romance will be the undoing of an otherwise great show.......sad to see Ziva go good luck Cote.

    No I hadn't, but the fact that it was taking so long made me think the issue wasn't if she'd be coming back or not, but whether she would appear at all next season to wrap things up or not.
    I'll also say that I can see why she would be getting tired with the character, so I don't blame her for possibly wanting to move on and/or take a break.

    I'm not sure which is more annoying, shipper names or the way that they seem to take over every conversation. I blame Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck for this stupid trend. However I would say Caskett is worse because seriously who wants their couple name to represent death.

    Cell towers in LA must have been jammed on hearing the news. Everyone calling their agent to see if they can get a shot. Nothing like being recognized by 20 million people, most of which will probably hate you for taking on their favorite actress' place.

    She stood out from the usual 'blond bimbas' that shows seem to favour; a little atypical as a character.and one of the few females leads I've enjoyed watching.

    I'm gonna miss Ziva a lot as an individual, never cared about Tiva though, they were a couple that I never rooted for but could've lived with as long as their story didn't take up too much screen time, now I obviously don't have to worry about that.

    No, the writers never promised anything, but the execs and producers sure pushed those shows to the viewers. If you will notice most "Tiva" heavy episodes came during sweeps. Why? Because they knew that some, not all, viewers watched for Tiva. They exploited those characters for ratings, which is their right to do so. But don't say viewers are responsible for the realtionship between Ziva and tony. The writers write the episodes, the producers push the episodes, and the viewer only watches what has been presented to them.

    Your right they weren't responsible for the relationship,i was wrong to lay it squarely on the fans,but....the fans were never promised a romantic relationship between them as Dominika and so many other expected.It was once said by Tony that 'He would never get involved with a co-worker because then they would not be able to work together.' Yes it was a Gibbs rule,but one he wouldn't break.

    Did the writers push it,sure,did they light the flame sure but its the Tiva fans that made it so much more than it was...

    In terms of 'shipper names, Caskett has never bothered me much because, in my view, Castle is basically about solving a grisly murder-of-the-week so the name Caskett always seemed like a serendipitous fit to me.

    Exactly. At worst, the actress gets a healthy network paycheck and a little hate from the fandom. At best, she'll get long-term gainful employment, millions of new supporters, and plenty of notoriety that will help her land future gigs. It's a win-win even if the role is a disaster.

    Plus you can ride the sympathy wave from non-NCIS fans when you are hated simply because someone else left. No one would turn down this opportunity to gain more name recognition. The person doesn't even have to stay long. In fact, it might be more beneficial not to.

    Ha! That would be the absolute worst thing they could do. Imagine them adding someone with whom Tony already had a relationship with. The outcry would be deafening. I remember the huge backlash they got when Ziva came in after Kate and thought that the Ziva character would be gone quickly, so I see your point about riding out the initial storm.
