Synopsis
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, young Thomas is deposited in a community of boys after his memory is erased, soon learning they're all trapped in a maze that will require him to join forces with fellow "runners" for a shot at escape.

ReplyDeleteIt's not at all Hunger Games, I haven't read Battle Royale but going off from what I know, it's nothing like the main premise. I didn't even know this book was being made into a movie!!
ReplyDeleteIf they stick at all with the book, there is nothing Hunger Games about it. This is all about people coming together to figure out how they got in the maze and how they can all get out. They wake up in the maze not knowing who they are, where they came from, and what they are doing there. They then have to navigate the circumstances to find a way out. There is of course in-fighting but mostly it's about trying to not only survive together but figure out why they have to. This is one of the books I highly recommended to my students and the majority of them were so excited after reading it that they immediately started in on the next novel.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea it was being made into a movie either. I knew about Divergent but not this one. I'm glad though because I think James Dashner deserves more notice as a writer.

ReplyDeletethats just the new genre that is in the in right now. look to see more of it, also more and more fantasy/magic book adaptations. heck even the seventh son is coming out
