Betting this will be a "Dragon Egg" on the Blu-Rays!
I love the symbolism of Tywin fishing when at the same time he is trying to outmaneuver and catch the Tullys (the trout is their house symbol) unaware at Edmure Tully's Wedding. Much like he was gutting a stag (the symbol of House Baratheon) in Season 1.
It would have been nice foreshadowing had the scene played right before the first Small Council meeting where intended!
This was absolutely brilliant and I'm very disappointed that it was cut. Especially since most episodes were shorter than we were told they'd be before the season started :(
Agreed! I'm still stunned though to see him do something so oddly normal. It's an unexpected glimpse that his world is not exclusively about the survival of house Lannister, that there's something else he does.
What I love about Show!Tywin is how layered he is. That was actually get glimpses of the man as a man himself (personally, to me, it comes off somewhat in the books too, but it doesn't touch the level of humanity and layers Charles brings into it). Seeing him do "normal" on the show doesn't phase me. It just reminds me: he's awesome!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
This is interesting don't get a lot of deleted scenes from this show
ReplyDeleteWaiting for the season 4 !!
ReplyDeleteTwyin always knowing everything D:
ReplyDeleteHaha, Tywin seeing through the deception and Pycelle slipping in and out of it were fantastic. I can't think of a reason why they cut this.

There were a handful of deleted scenes on the Season 2 BD sets, but none were as good as this. Some were downright bad! XD
ReplyDeleteI think they said in some other interview that they did not like the segue into or out of the scene and it felt out of place in the episode.
ReplyDeleteAgreed though, you would think they could have foudn a spot for it somewhere in the first 8 episodes! Such a good scene....

ReplyDeleteYeah, exactly, it's great!
ReplyDeleteWould have served as a nice reminder of Pycelle's deception too! Though, with that I'm assuming it will play a role in future episodes. ;)
Tywin Lannister does fishing. I'm speechless.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing the man can't do....
ReplyDeleteBrilliant scene, but I do get why it was cut....
