I agree with the X-Files comparison but I think I found X-Files to be more serialized than you did, especially in the mid-early years when they were still pretending their was a truth out thee to find.
Not really...the show isn't that successful in other countries, and as far as I know, the download list doesn't make a difference between the nationality of the downloader. Therefore you'll find mostly shows on those list which are either appealing to a large audience worldwide (meaning a lot of people download and take a peak before they are able to watch it official) or those which are on cable...or both. Since OUAT is more a local phenomenon and on one of the "big" networks, it is certainly not a show which I would expect to turn up on such a list. Game of Thrones on the other hand is not only very successful, it's availability by legal means is somewhat problematic (someone even made a comic strip about it).
i couldnt possibly know if its true or not, but people dont only use torrent clients to illegally download stuff. there are instant streaming sites out there notorious for being able to rip the flash video and download it that way. of course ive never done such a thing.
Arrow was against too many reality shows (Survivor,AI, and for two weeks The Voice) and I think quite a few probably watched online as people tend to watch reality first. It also reached #1 on Itunes several times during the spring.
Arrow is a combination of procedural and serial. It shares elements of both almost in equal measure. In a lot of ways it is like Person of Interest in that way.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Arrow is a serialized show. If you think otherwise, then you didn't watch the 2nd half. And, to me, Arrow is one of the better shows in this list.
ReplyDeleteIt becomes more serialized and is just as serialized now as Buffy and SPN were their first seasons.
ReplyDeleteI don't see Person of Interest as a serialized show but, much like the X-Files, a procedural with smal myth-arcs in it.
ReplyDeleteRatings are going down as well: Didn't the show started with a solid 12 million viewers only to end this season with a bordeline 8?

ReplyDeletegood point, arguably streaming services are more widely used now for 'episode-to-episode' viewing rather than downloading a whole season.
ReplyDeleteputlocker doesnt have millions of searches daily for no reason

ReplyDeleteKeep in mind this was taking just from people using bittorrent as their means to download.

ReplyDeleteI am part of those who download tbbt, himym and vikings
ReplyDeleteWow, Once Upon A Time didn't even make the top ten? That's surprising.
ReplyDeleteTo me, downloading is all about serialized stories the captive audience don't want to miss or must-see-TV a casual viewer wants to catch up with.
ReplyDeleteArrow is neither a serialized story nor must-see-TV to me (neither is reality or VD for that matter).
