Person of Interest number 5! YEAHHH! Also YEAH for Criminal Minds :)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone find it funny that Vegas was one of the top 25 and yet was cancelled? I find that pretty damn funny that you can be one of the most watched shows all year and still get cancelled. Guess thats what happens when your on CBS and only get 12 million viewers.
ReplyDeleteBS THAT SUPERNATURAL IS NOT ON THIS LIST!
ReplyDeleteCSI NY was in the top twenty list many times through out the season with an average of 9 million viewers...for a Friday night that was pretty good. Vegas according to the list also did well, but yet they cancelled it too. Quit watching CBS...they keep getting rid of good shows to add more stupid reality and comedy's.
ReplyDeleteOnly two shows I watch out of these; criminal minds and survivor!
ReplyDeleteWhy? Supernatural has never gotten 6 million viewers in its whole 8 seasons, much less 12 million. It doesn't mean anything about the show or its quality. This is just a statistics thing. In fact it doesn't even measure the most important factor which is demo. One of the shows on this list already got cancelled and it's a good bet at least 2 will be gone next year if their demos don't improve. Add to it that this is the live +7 ratings and it means absolutely nothing.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have anything at all to do with "only" getting 12 million viewers. It had a lot to do with not having the right kind of viewers. Vegas skewed very old and therefore the demo was terrible for CBS. It's the same thing as with Harry's Law last year. It is sad but advertisers find certain groups of people more valuable than others and us oldies don't cut it I guess. Sad state of the world....yes. But TV is a business and its customers are advertisers not viewers. Until viewers start paying for network TV a la HBO or Showtime, they don't matter one jot.
ReplyDeleteCBS really knows how to draw the masses. What they lack in the demo they make up in numbers.
ReplyDeleteThey keep getting rid of shows that don't make them much money to add shows that make them more money. You can't blame CBS for that. Blame Nielsen viewers. TV is a business just like anything else.
ReplyDeleteAll good points but people should also keep in mind that these numbers are season averages and don't accurately represent the show's viewership when it was canceled. Vegas' numbers were declining steadily throughout the season and the show was drawing a mere fraction of what it was when it premiered.
ReplyDeleteWow, I had no idea that many people watched Blue Bloods. But really, reality TV and CBS really do make up the lion's share of this list.
ReplyDeleteVery good point. Inflated beginning numbers often do not tell the real story.
ReplyDeleteno surprise NCIS the best drama on team is number 1 and zero tv awards
ReplyDeleteI´m so happy for Castle is a great show and this season was really amazing, can´t wait for season 6
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with all your comments so far. There's also the fact that while a network like NBC probably wouldn't dare to cancel a show that got decent viewers because it needs the ratings, a network like CBS can afford to do that because it has all the ratings. The drawback is that sometimes shows with decent viewership get canceled.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing the amount of average viewers that NCIS and NCIS: LA get, how many POI fans are psyched that they'll be leading in to POI next year? Especially since POI is the fastest growing show? HELL YEAH!
ReplyDeleteWhat network it is on is a definite factor. CBS is the most successful network in terms of being successful in a well-rounded way. It does not need to keep shows that other networks would be clamoring to have. NBC and the CW cannot afford to be so picky.
