Supernatural - Ultimate Quote - 1G - Poll

30 Jun 2013

Well it finally happened! We have a tie. Dean's "white meat" quote from Wendigo and his ugly art one from Provenance each got 56 votes and so they both go on to round 2. It was only one of many tight races this round. Dean's enthusiasm for Baby finally getting fixed lost by 4 votes while classic "I hope your apple pie was freakin' worth it" lost by 6. That one hurts. Bobby's "Family don't end with blood boy" lost by 7 and is the biggest travesty in the contest so far for me. Just a reminder today and tomorrow's polls will end round 1. At that time the Favorite Show contest run by Adam should begin. We will put this contest on hold unless there are breaks in the Favorite Show one for more than 24 hours. During any big gaps we will continue where we left off so we can finish this contest before October. Happy voting!

Quotes Too Long for Poll:

Poll 35 - Dean: "Hey don't forget the extra onions this time, huh?" Sam: "Dude, I'm the one who's going to have to ride in the car with your extra onions." Dean: "Hey see if they've got any pie. Bring me some pie. I love me some pie." (AHBL1)

Poll 40 - Dean: "Here's the thing. When we were young, I pretty much pulled him from a fire and ever since then I've felt responsible for him. Like it's my job to keep him safe. I'm just afraid if we don't find him fast….please, he's my family." (The Benders)

Poll 42 - Sam: "Hey I think maybe you're around and if you are, don't make fun of me for this but…um, well there's one way we can talk." Dean: "Oh you've got to be kidding me." Sam: "Dean? Dean are you here?" Dean: "God I feel like I'm at a slumber party. Alright Sam, this isn't going to work…I'll be damned." Sam: "It's good to hear from you man. It hasn't been the same without you, Dean." Dean: "Damn straight." (In My Time of Dying)

Poll 43 - Dean: "Nothing. It's just an angel and a demon riding in the back seat. It's like the setup to a bad joke, or a Penthouse forum letter." Sam: "Dude, reality. Porn." Dean: "You call this reality?" (Heaven and Hell)

Poll 48 - Sam: "You know we could get day jobs once in awhile." Dean: "Hunting's our day job and the pay is cr**." Sam: "Yeah but hustling pool? Credit card scams? It's not the most honest thing in the world Dean." Dean: "Well let's see. Honest. Fun and easy. It's no contest. Besides we're good at it. It's what we were raised to do." (Bugs)

  1. Poll 33 - Have to give it to the kids line. Dean scratching his head and thinking about it made it even more funny. I do like the prison quote too though.

Poll 34 - I love how Sam has grown to accept Sammy from Dean by season 2, but he won't let anyone but Dean go there. Still Dean's equal pride and embarrassment at Bela's approval always makes me howl. Tux wins by a thread.

Poll 35 - Absolutely honest here, I am as surprised as you are that both pie quotes are against each other. I don't touch the rankings that determine what goes against what. In the honor of brevity, I chose the short one.

Poll 36 - Cookies beat Gumby every time. I did however before Lisa to Dr. Ellicott by a whole lot.

Poll 37 - Michael and Dean bond over brothers. No question. The Blues Brothers line was cute but I adored Michael and hopes he returns as a junior hunter one day. I think of all the parallels of Dean with children, this one is the best.

Poll 38 - Ouch. This one is tougher for me than it probably will be for most. The warrior comment always makes me laugh, but I respect Bobby too much to not vote for his big moment.

Poll 39 - I agree with Dean about the clippers but I have to go with the sheriff.

Poll 40 - Neither quote is top stuff for me but since Dean rarely asks outsiders for help I'll give his plea the edge.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Poll 41 - Easy. Nothing with Missouri ever will get a vote from me. Thank goodness this is the only one, even though I suspect it will go far. I love Dean's declaration that nothing bad was going to happen to Sam as long as Dean was around. That might not have stuck but the intention was there and really the worst things that happened to Sam always were when Dean wasn't around: dying before Dean could get there in AHBL1, Ruby while Dean was in hell, Amelia. :-P

Poll 42 - Both are awesome but I'm going with Ouija board because Sam is so relieved and Dean is so shocked when it works. Love that the brothers find a way to communicate even when it seems impossible.

Poll 43 - Both, but since that won't work I'll save my vote until the end and then vote for the losing one.

Poll 44 - This one is tough because both are awesome. I use Captain Obvious in my daily conversation these days but the movie sucking quote was hilarious. I think I'll go with the movie.

Poll 45 - Season 8 sucked and that quote is like Jeremy Carver wants me to openly mock his "vision". Therefore I will. It beats the fairy tales.

Poll 46 - Absolutely no contest. Sam telling HellSam that he wasn't leaving Dean alone is the best serious Sammy quote of them all. I like the other, but it has no power behind it. TMWKTM quote packs a punch.

Poll 47 - Hot nurses beat Moose and Squirrel for me. At least in quotes.

Poll 48 - These are about the same to me so shorter quote it is.

  3. Why are there so many supernatural polls. I love the show seen every episode. These polls are excessive.

    ReplyDelete
  4. We do a big Supernatural contest every summer hellatus to pass the time. We needed to get through round one quickly because the contest is so long this time. We spent over one year nominating for it. This contest will halt for a while as the Favorite Show contest starts Monday and then resume afterward. No one requires you to participate so please feel free to just skip them and go on to things that interest you.

Odd bunch, none of them but at the same time none of them are truly memorable. That said Dean's line at the end of Dream a Little Dream of Me is probably my favorite

    ReplyDelete
  6. Man, some really good quotes have dropped out of the game. :(

    ReplyDelete
  7. You can see all the quotes that lost here: http://dahne1.blogspot.com/2013/06/supernatural-quotes-contest-results.html

    ReplyDelete
  8. Aww, there are some I really like in this batch. Still overall this is a weaker section.

    ReplyDelete
  9. 1B 33)Love the kids quote. It always makes me laugh.

1B34)Gordon: "Well lighten up a little Sammy." Sam: "He's the only one who gets to call me that." (Bloodlust)

One of my fav quotes. Dean's little smirk of contentment at Sam's words is just sweet.
    X
1B35).Sam:"Dude, I'm the one who's going to have to ride in the car with your
extra onions." Dean: "Hey see if they've got any pie. Bring me some
pie. I love me some pie." (AHBL1)

Going with the longer pie this time. The funny before the storm!
    X
1B36) Dean: "See that attitude right there. That's why I always got the extra cookie." (Asylum)

Neither of these two particularly inspire me, so I'll go with the cookie.
    X
1B37)Although I love the other quote too, I'll have to go with the brother bonding. :)
    X
1B38)Dean: "I can't do this man. I can't live on rabbit food. I'm…I'm a warrior." (There Will be Blood)

Although the Bobby quote is full of pathos and I know I should love it, somehow it doesn't grip me as it should, so I vote for Dean's warrior quote which I always find funny.
    X
1B39) Henriksen: "I shot the sheriff." Dean: "But you didn't shoot the deputy." (Jus in Bello)

    A classic.
    X
    1B40)Dean:
"Here's the thing. When we were young, I pretty much pulled him from a
fire and ever since then I've felt responsible for him. Like it's my
job to keep him safe. I'm just afraid... (Benders)

I am defenceless against brother moments. .:)
    X
    1B41)Dean:
"Because you've got 1 advantage that Max didn't have." Sam: "Dad?
Because dad's not here Dean." Dean: "No, me. As long as I'm around
nothing bad is going to happen to you." (Nightmare)

    Ditto as above.

How can one not love Dean here, as he reassures his little brother. He had the best of intentions and the quote turns out to be mostly true in the future.
    X
1B42)Dead Dean and Sam talk via Ouija board (In My Time of Dying) - see actual quote in post

The Ouija board was a great idea. Pity Carver didn't know about such things in season eight. He could have maybe let Sam try it out on Dean there too, instead of getting him to hit a dog!
    X
1B43)Dean: "What the hell was that for?" CD: "Sealing a deal." Dean: "I
usually like to be warned before I'm violated with demon tongue."
    (Crossroad Blues)

Dean and the crossroad demons are something to watch!
    X
    1B44) Sam:
"You know maybe the spirits are trying to shut down the movie because
they think it sucks. "Cause I mean, it kind of does." (Hollywood
    Babylon)

I'm not a great fan of this episode but whenever Sam says this I so agree with him. The film sucked! :)

1B45)Sam "Actually I do have a theory, sort of." Dean: "Hit me." Sam: "Well
I'm thinking about fairy tales." Dean: "Oh that's…that's nice. You
think about fairy tales often?" (Bedtime Stories)

Brotherly baiting over reminder of what season eight was about, any day!
    X
1B46)Sam: "You know me. You know why. I'm not leaving my brother alone out there." (The Man who Knew Too Much)

    Aw. Love you Sammy!
    X
1B47)Dean: "I'm not going to die in a hospital where the nurses aren't even hot." (Faith)

    AW. Love you too, Dean!
    X
    1B48)Sam:
"You know we could get day jobs once in awhile." Dean: "Hunting's
our day job and the pay is cr**." Sam: "Yeah but hustling pool?
Credit card scams? It's not the most honest... (Bugs)

Sam still had a little bit of the naivity of youth here, but it soon got knocked out of him. :(

  10. 33 --- Fitting in at Folsom Prison

34 --- He's the only one who gets to call me that. :-)

35 --- Dude, Where's the pie. One of those lines that defines Dean

36 --- Extra cookies…it just makes me happy.

37 --- Torn… the quote from something Wicked is illustrates one of the benchmarks for the show,
but the blues brother/7th grade line just makes me chuckle - blues bros…bet it's losing.

38 --- man! super difficult! Went with Bobby's line.

39 --- I shot the sheriff. Cause, I said it before Dean did…and still laughed when Dean said it.

40 --- I seem to lean toward the quotable quotes rather than good dialog. The Bender's quote is
good dialog as part of a scene but it's not a good quote. Had to go with 'hotter psychic"
Not surprising which is winning though.

    41 --- spoon whacking. :-)

    42 --- no decision…not fond of either

43 --- Demon tongue. definitely demon tongue. :-) though it was a near thing

44 --- the Hollywood Babylon quote of course. :-)

    45 --- Kevin's line

    46 --- the gift of the 45

47 --- Dean from Faith. The Crowley one isn't as good out of context

48 --- upstairs brain. don't remember that one. it's an awesome line

    ReplyDelete
  11. 33. I went back and forth on this one, finally picked the kids.
34.Dean: "Don't objectify me." and the way it was said, just so funny.
    35. Extra onions..get pie
    36. Extra cookie..ha I see a trend.
    37. Dean doing anything to save his brother, I liked Michael also.
    38. Easy, Bobby: "Uh huh, well as fate would have
it, I adopted two boys and they grew up great. They grew up heroes, so
    you can go to hell."
    39. Henriksen: "I shot the sheriff." Dean: "But you didn't shoot the deputy." and yes I did say the last part with Dean when the ep first played. lol
    40. My second Benders quote to vote for..asking for help.

    ReplyDelete
  12. So don't do them, easy solution.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 41. Going with Dean on this one.
    42. I loved this Ouija board quote and the Sam smile when it worked.
43.Sam: "Dude, reality. Porn." Dean: "You call this reality?
    44. Movie sucks wins for me.
    45. with you on this one, voted for cliff notes.
    46. Jared was awesome in this ep, so going with Sam not leaving Dean alone.
    47. Crowley: "Listen to Moose, Squirrel."

    48. Getting a day job

    ReplyDelete
  14. Patrick Maloney30 June 2013 at 13:31

I didn't say I didn't like them, it was just all of them were hard choices because I had a hard time remembering how I felt when I first heard them for some of them

    ReplyDelete
  15. lostrocks4ever30 June 2013 at 16:11

I think te "I shot the Sherrif" quote may be my all time fave, along with "I'm batman!" But there are just so many great quotes it really is hard to pick a downright fave

    ReplyDelete
  16. So? If you aren't interested just skip over.

SPN fans are just lucky Dahne gives us an option, something to do show wise, to pass time in the summer. It is only sad that every fandom doesn't have a person to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  17. What's with the excessive voting down happening?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wow, so many already.

    ReplyDelete
  19. We should be able to see who down votes too along with the up votes. It would stop the past timers.

    ReplyDelete
  20. At first I wished Michael had comeback in Clip Show instead of Tommy, but when I learned they were going to die I am glad he didn't. I like the idea of him out there hunting somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'll be very depressed if Sam's quote doesn't make it in. Of all the serious quotes in here, it is in my top 5.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The person we really need to thank is Andy for letting us do them on his site. The Mozzie quotes contest I will be doing for White Collar the month before it premieres will be on my blog instead, which means there will be fewer participants.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Sorry. I misinterpreted. Some of these quotes do get lost int he shuffle and for some they really aren't anything special except in the context in which they were said.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yep and some of them are my favorites. :-( We should have 127 quotes out by Monday and then another 65 by the end of round 2. After that it slows down a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The best thing about Dean's quote after the Impala is running again losing the round is that I got to use that picture. That is one of my favorite brother banter scenes because it directly connects the 3rd Winchester - The Impala - in the scene.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Just ignore it. I never take downvoting personally. It simply means someone doesn't agreed or in this case either doesn't like the show or doesn't like us doing these polls. To each their own. Doesn't bother me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think "I shot the sheriff" is so popular because almost everyone was either thinking Dean's line or outright saying it when they first saw the episode. It gives the line an instant connection.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Upstairs brain is used a few times in Shadow by both Sam and Dean. In this instance, Sam is trying to refocus Dean which makes it a great brother moment too.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Why not on white collar? Can't we walk and chew gum at the same time?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't ever look to see if I have down votes, but even if we could see who it is, most would be listed as "Guest". I have noticed a lot of the up votes are guest.

    ReplyDelete
  31. My preference like most is to not have downvoting at all. I know Andy has been asking Disqus to make this an option. So far no go. I do not want the option to see who downvotes though. It will make things worse, especially when some times people downvote to avoid having an argument in the comments section.

    ReplyDelete
  32. White Collar does not have a big audience at SpoilerTV and the STV staff are looking to majorly decrease the number of polls posted next year. I got special permission to do this contest because we spent so much time nominating and because it is a STV tradition by this point.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That is sad to hear, it is the polls that bring me here. Do they slow down the site or something? I would think they would bring more hits.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeah taking off the down voting period would be the best idea.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I usually do that, but when a whole page of comments is voted down I can't help but be irritated sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think it would be a good idea to make a section for polls if they can afford to/if slowing down isn't a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Don't worry. There will still be polls, just not as many of them. Apparently some people felt that polls were clogging out the other features. It doesn't have anything to do with site speed. I think it is more a philosophical change to make STV more like the other big TV blog sites with a focus on news, reviews, and spoilers.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't think there will be much of a difference for Supernatural fans so no need to jump the gun. There will still be the what did you think of...polls for SPN and I think possibly the favorite scene poll will return for it also. Supernatural is one of the busiest fandoms on STV so I am sure there will be plenty of things to comment on.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hope you are correct..BTW I think a guy on Primeval is our favorite Levi, the one in the basement, chained up. Did not go check names, but looked like him. lol

    ReplyDelete
  40. If he was chased by a giant bug, it is Mensa Monster. He was also in last week's episode of Motive. He was buying groceries in a mini-mart from Amelia. It was a fun SPN mini reunion on my TV.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yep that is who I am talking about, have not watched Motive yet. Did just finish Graceland and it is the first ep I have really liked. So you gave good advice on that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I watched Motive for an interview with Brendan Penny, who plays the cop new to homicide. I liked it far better than I thought I would. I originally thought that knowing who the killer and victim was right at the beginning would kill the suspense, but I found myself even more involved than with most cop procedurals because with them I usually know the killer halfway through. It's much harder to guess why someone killed a person. Unfortunately it is on at the same time as Burn Notice and I don't have a DVR, so I'll have to juggle watching it in the future. Of course those in Canada have already had all of season 1 episodes air - lucky folks.

I am glad you liked Graceland. I have no more screeners available so I won't know any more about episodes than anyone else. However, I think it went in the right direction with the last episode and I hope it shows the lingering effects on Mike.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I am SHOCKED, I SAY SHOCKED, you don't have a DVR. I have the Hopper and it records 6 shows at once. lol The DVR is the best thing ever invented, don't know how I watched TV for 50+ years without one. The only show I watch the night it is on is SPN every thing else gets watched the next day.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ha! I live on a teacher's salary. Anything attached to yet another monthly payment is a no-no to my budget. Besides most networks let you watch their shows online for free if you are patient. That's how I got caught up on Motive.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Got it..I just don't like to watch shows online, like the big screen better.

    ReplyDelete
  46. My computer and monitor are actually of better quality than my old TV (and the screen is not much smaller) so I sometimes prefer to watch stuff on my computer. I can understand the appeal of a larger screen though.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm sorry to hear that. I think this site is perfect as it is.
It's quickly accessible, easy to browse and simple but efficient in its graphics.
    X
I really don't think Spoiler tv has any reason to feel that other sites are better; I find the majority of the "big TV blog" sites far less interesting and rather boring.

I actually believe that it's the diversity from those sites that make STV so appealing. but that's only my humble opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  48. On the flip side, SpoilerTV has been growing wildly in the last few years and is now a destination TV blog for many people. However that means more articles from more people and things can get a bit unwieldy. If it streamlines just a bit it and focuses on news more it could inspire new networks to work closer to STV. This year for instance is the first time the CW has sent screeners out to the STV staff. Now I too like polls and I think they are a great way to get conversation started which means more page hits. I personally don't feel like it's hard to navigate to the things I want in STV since there are sooo many ways to personalize the info you see, but others disagree.

The best thing about Spoiler besides the community of course, is that they are always willing to try new things to make the site better. Andy and company really do look at and honor your feedback. If something doesn't work, then they look for other ways to tweak the site. I'd say let's look at how the changes look in the fall. Chances are there will be little difference for SPN fans. If you don't like the changes after a month or so, tell Andy about it. If you do like the changes, of course also tell Andy about it. All feedback is good.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh, I do understand, believe me.

Spoiler tv has its just ambitions and I hope all their wishes come to pass.

But in going from 'little' to 'big', much is certainly to be gained but some things will probably change, and I'm not dwelling only on SPN.

However I know that the site owners are very down to earth and helpful so I'm sure STV will manage to absorb the growth without losing its originality and "homliness".

    ReplyDelete
  50. Which Primeval are you talking about? The one airing on Syfy?

I've missed 2 episodes, so need to get back in the game TV watching wise. Had distractions.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't have a DVR, but not because I don't want it. I'm not the one paying my bills currently.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Don't worry @isleofskye as @Dahne has very well explained in a couple of comments, we're not going to go down the road of other "big sites".

We're committed to being totally focused on the fans and the community.

And as Dahne mentioned if you ever want to submit some feedback or shoot me an email, I'm always happy to listen :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Someone on Twitter reassured me of that. I tweeted that I couldn't handle a show about bugs and she told me it is usually about dinosaurs. Now those I can handle.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I am liking Primeval, but it has already been cancelled along with Sinbad. I was asking Andy why it was not listed on the syfy site and he sent the links about them being cancelled. Did anyone notice Sara Canning from TVD. I like her much better in this, was not a fan of aunt who ever.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I always think of her as Lydia on Supernatural. I never remember she played the aunt in VD. I only watched 1 season of TVD but I liked her role in that. Did she get worse? I guess dinosaurs didn't go over well in Canada is it is cancelled already. It seems like a show you can watch sporadically so I'm not too concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I did not remember she was Lydia..Well since I NEVER liked her on TVD, it would be hard for me to say she got worse, but she did get dead.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ha! I remember thinking she was a little clueless but decent. Glad her dying improved things for you.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, I do look for small miracles. ;) Klaus killed her and I am not a Klaus fan either. The only reason I am going to watch The Originals is for Elijah..love Daniel Gillies

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thanks for your answer, Dark UFO.:)

Spoiler tv is unique and you should be proud of your site and how it has grown and thrived.

Never lose your originality and I'm sure you'll do great things in the tv sites world..)

That sounds so pompous that I'm almost embarassed, but I had to say it!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yes, there are many other sites around but I never go to them unless I want to confirm a news report or something, and I never feel the urge to comment except on very rare occasions.
There's just something unattractive about them, go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I agree, used to go to several, and tvbythenumbers still sends me updates once a day, but spoiler gets checked many times a day and I LOVE polls. lol This just feels like home.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Absolutely! I check in too during the day, but only here.
I'm just not attracted by other sites, so I understand how you feel :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Well if I liked that kind of site, I would be going there, this will put a big stop on my posting, since that is mostly what draws me in and gets me posting. Gee crappy last season of SPN and now this. Just not my year. :(

    ReplyDelete
  64. I don't think SpoilerTV will ever lose its feeling of community, especially in specific show threads. It is what makes STV unique and they seem to guard that very closely. I don't see this site ever turning into the troll and hate mongering that many sites not only accept but also seem to actively encourage.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yeah, I caught it on Syfy the other day after Warehouse 13. I think this one is called A New World or something like that. It also stars Lydia from Slice Girls. Basically it was like watching a Supernatural reunion with big, big bugs. No InstaDawn in this one though.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I saw like the first 2 or 3 episodes. I'm enjoying it. I like prehistoric dinosaurs/mammals/birds. Not so much snakes and creepy co.
