Supernatural - Salute to Law Enforcement - Major Characters - Quotes

17 Jun 2013

Let's face it. The cops tend to get in the Winchester brothers' way more than help them, but they have delivered some awesome lines. From recurring characters like Sheriff Mills and Agent Henriksen to one-off unnamed sheriffs like the one in Bloodlust, law enforcement has not only give the hunters important information, they have made us laugh too. Below is my picks for best law enforcement officers and best quotes. Because it got so long, I've actually divided this post in two but they should both be posted on the same day. Sound off in the comments below with your favorites and don't forget to keep nominating your favorite quotes in our nomination forms for the big quotes contest which will get started next week. All nominations are due by Friday, so I can get everything put together and ready to go.

Top Law Enforcement (Major characters):

7. Eliot Ness - Time After Time
6. Sheriff Jake - Dead in the Water
5. Officer Kathleen - The Benders
4. Detective Diana Ballard - The Usual Suspects
3. Deacon - Folsom Prison Blues
2. FBI Special Agent Victor Henriksen
1. Sheriff Jody Mills

Special FBI Agent Victor Henriksen - Best Quotes:

I loved Agent Henriksen from the moment he said "Crazy's in there and I just hung up on it." He was cocky and a powerful, long-standing human nemesis for the brothers. However he still thought he he was doing the right thing. For me he's a more stable, and supernaturally in the dark, Gordon Walker, whom I also thought was a great antagonist. Add to it his fabulous snark and he was one of the most memorable characters in Supernatural for me. I only wish he had more time to be on the brothers' side before dying. As great as he was working against them, I can only imagine what a great ally he could have been.

12. "I've been busting my a** for 15 years to nail a handful of guys and all this while there's something around the corner so big. So yeah, sign me up for that big, frosty mug of wasting my damn life." (Jus in Bello)
11. "I'm gonna kill you. Sam and Dean Winchester were in the chopper when it caught on fire. Nothing left, can't even identify them with dental records. Rest in peace guys." (Jus in Bello)
10. "You don't know these Winchesters. They're dangerous, smart, and expertly trained." (Nightshifter)
9. "And after Milwaukee, your brother is now a suspect in a murder case himself. I'd say for you two, screwed to hell is a major understatement." (Folsom Prison Blues)
8. "Well you're not the typical suspect are you Dean? I want you and Sam out here unarmed or we come in, and yes I know about Sam…Bonnie to your Clyde." (Nightshifter)
7. "We do not sacrifice people. We do that, we're no better than them." (Jus in Bello)
6. "I…I shot the sheriff." (Jus in Bello)
5. "Well guess what? Life sucks. Get a helmet 'cause everybody's got a sob story but not everybody becomes a killer." (Jus in Bello)
4. "It's my job to bring you in. Alive's a bonus but not necessary." (Nightshifter)
3. "Do you know what these guys do for kicks? Dig up graves and mutilate corpses. They're not just killers Sheriff. They're Satan-worshipping, nut bag killers." (Jus in Bello)
2. "Fighting off monsters with condiments…so turns out demons are real." (Jus in Bello)
1. "Crazy's in there and I just hung up on it." (Nightshifter)

Sheriff Jody Mills - Best Quotes:

I never thought there would be a cop I liked better than Victor Henriksen, but then came Sheriff Jody Mills with her compelling story of a mother destined to lose her only child a second time. She incurred instant sympathy but she wasn't the victim. One of the most helpful characters, she is also one of the more rounded recurring character we've still got. It's no wonder she's a fan favorite. She can be powerful, smart, and yet vulnerable, making her one of the easiest characters to relate to as well. Not to mention she has that great mom voice.

20. "Sound like a song you boys tap to?" (Time After Time)
19. "Here's what I know about Bobby Singer. He's a menace around here, a** full of drunk and disorderlies and mail fraud. You understanding me?" (Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid)
18. "I can't exactly call a deputy here. You and I killed zombies that one time. I know you handle this kind of thing. Please get your a** here to Sioux Falls General before he eats me Singer." (Hello, Cruel World)
17. "You're all charm Bobby." (Slash Fiction)
16. "Alright you asked for it. Young man…" (Time After Time)
15. "Anytime you need me to spill something else, you give me a call." (Slash Fiction)
14. "This is crazy. I'm crazy. He's attractive though right? He's hot." (Sacrifice)
13. "Luther Vandros show up? Tell him I'm a fan." (Weekend at Bobby's)
12. "It's weird huh? It's like their life's a big puzzle. You just keep finding pieces of it scattered all over the place. We should drink this. He'd want us to. Am I wrong?" (Time After Time)
11. "Bobby Singer, my hero." (Hello, Cruel World)
10. "Okay, wasn't expecting that reaction." (Slash Fiction)
9. " Look Bobby here is kind of a crank and he ain't what you'd call a fan of Big Brother, but me and him…how long I been arresting you now? 10 years?" (Weekend at Bobby's)
8. "I can cook - ish." (Slash Fiction)
7. "Bobby Singer? My surgeon is a monster." (Hello, Cruel World)
6. "Whatever he is or isn't, that doesn't give you the right to shoot him in the middle of the street." (Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid)
5. "I lose my job over this, I am taking it out of your a**." (Weekend at Bobby's)
4. "Do I have to use my mom voice?" (Time After Time)
3. "Yeah I think Bobby may have had a slight hoarding issue. I could barely get the door open on that storage locker and…um, I'm pretty sure something's alive in at least 3 of those boxes." (Time After Time)
2. "Well yeah, seeing as they were fresh out of 'thanks for saving me from liver-eating surgeon' cards at the store." (Slash Fiction)
1. "You can kiss my a** Doctor Monster face." (Hello, Cruel World)

  1. I am a big fan of the memorable law enforcement types on Supernatural. It amazes me how much these actors can do with just a few lines.

Out with the Old quotes: I am also a fan of this episode. It's generally overlooked in the fandom but there is a lot to love in this one. I thought George was a great new character.

    15. Dean: "Hey a little tip…uh, feeling guilty ain't gonna bring them back. Best you can do is live your life the way that you think would make her proud, or at least not embarrass the cr** out of her."
    14. Frank: "Fine, call me if you don't die."
    13. Barista: "How about you eat me?" George: "Don't tempt me. You're lucky I'm late."
    12. Dean: "Tea kettle?" Sam: "Yeah, hey with enough curse mojo you can turn a freaking pencil into a weapon of mass destruction." Dean: "Good times."
    11. Sam: "He's singing Stairway to Heaven right now." Dean: "Good song." Sam: "Not 50 times in a row."
    10. Dean: "Monsters cure cancer…a sentence I never thought I'd say. Why does it make me so nervous?"
    9. Sam: "Next stop…Out with the Old. I suppose it's too much to hope that these shoes are the only thing in that store that we have to worry about." Dean: "Oh what a dreamer you are."
    8. Frank: "My silence is your cue Dean." / Dean: "My silence is your cue Frank." Frank: "Oh touché.
    7. Dean: "Listen to me you gooey SoB. You're gonna tell us what you're building here or I'm gonna wash your mouth out with soap."
    6. Dean: "You know I wonder how old porn kills you." Sam: "Pretty sure you don't want to know."
    5. Sam: "Geez, you okay there Baryshnikov?" Dean: "Yeah, yeah I'm pas de done."
    4. Dean: "Dancers, they are toe shoes full of crazy."
    3. Dean: "Wait, let me get this straight. You want to eat your boss?"
    2. Dean: "Frank hey, I don't mean to double dip in your crazy sauce, no offense." Frank: "None taken fudge pop."
    1. Sam: "Wait are…are you…" Dean: "Getting the strong urge to Prince Siegfried myself into oblivion? Yes." Sam: "You really did see Black Swan."

  2. Can I just say how much I love Victor Henriksen? Because I do.

  3. The Born-Again Identity quotes: This is one of the worst episodes of season 7 and it's up there on the worst off Supernatural lists. You cannot tell me Sam is on his dying breath and still have him successfully complete a ghost hunt. Choose one because neither came off as realistic. Plus amnesia always sucks as a plot device. The saving grace in this one was Satan. He brought the snark. Kind of funny that I thought he was one of the most lame characters in season 5, but in season 7 he made me laugh and gave me chills. Something that never happened in season 5.

    15. Marin: "Man you must be really determined to wait out nap time…here." Sam: "Wait…uh, share with me." Marin: "Thanks. I don't know why I'm thanking you for a candy bar I stole."
    14. Dean: "How are you feeling?" Sam: "Maybe you should cancel my UFC fight."
    13. Lucifer: "Good morning to you. Good morning to you. Our day is beginning, so good morning to you."
    12. Marin: "Come on tell me I'm young and have everything to live for." Sam: "Why would you believe me?"
    11. Meg: "So here's the deal…you might remember Crowley and me were frosty back in the day? Well times haven't changed." Dean: "Good." Meg: "That hurts my feelings. I've been good to you Dean." Dean: "No you've been good to you sweetheart."
    10. Dean: "It's not a deal. It's…" Sam: "It's what?" Dean: "Mutually assured destruction. Look man I get it. We don't even have friends. All our friends are dead."
    9. Lucifer: "Oh you guys are having a moment."
    8. Dean: "Screw Cas, quit being Dalai fricking Yoda about this okay? Get p**."
    7. Dr: "So you're aware that Sam is experiencing a full-blown psychotic episode?" Dean: "Psychotic? Come on I mean the guy's…it's not like the guy's freaking Norman Bates."
    6. Dr: "It's okay. We're not talking lobotomy here." Lucifer: "Darn."
    5. Mackey: "Look I don't believe in much that don't suck your blood but I wouldn't call you on a maybe."
    4. Meg: "Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna burn that smarmy d**. My time's coming but right about now, my army of one situation is not cutting it. It's cold out here, there's a price on my a**, and I need friends." Dean: "Yeah I get that but I ain't it."
    3. Marin: "Being locked up is really turning me into a decent criminal."
    2. Lucifer: "Pills? You do get that you're just bringing free drugs to the party right?"
    1. Lucifer: "Come on Sam, tell the nice tweaker. You'd be sleeping by now if the devil would just leave you alone for 5 seconds. Stupid Satan. Chasing you all the way to…Where the hell are we?"

  4. Party On, Garth quotes: This is the best Garth episode of all. That's not saying much but he had some great lines. This one made me laugh hard. Of course the funniest didn't make it in here because while using bottled spring water to substitute for a Japanese natural spring just doesn't translate into words. All in all this was a decent comedy. Still Mr. Fizzles needs a good salt and burn.

    15. Dean: "There's another kid. Don't think…move."
    14. Sam: "The brewery. Hurry, hurry, hurry please?" Taxi Driver: "Yeah but I like to drive safe you know."
    13. Dean: "Yeah well maybe she's got something still laying around." Garth: "Highly doubtful. Chick was homeless, plus is it me or is this less evil spirit, more monster chow?"
    12. Dean: "Alright that's it. No microbrew is worth….what was it? 8 Food Magazine awards? Beer's not food. It's…whatever water is. Mmm, Thighslapper. Wow, that's actually awesome. Damn it, I'm not even mad anymore."
    11. Dean: "No, coffee for you Tara Reid."
    10. Dean: "What? Are you allergic to a suit?"
    9. Dean: "Garth, why don't we put the sock away?"
    8. Girl: "What do you want Top Gun?"
    7. Dean: "You have the CEO of the douchiest microbrew in the US gagged in your hot tub. You really think that's gonna end well?" Garth: "I'm not feeling the love."
    6. Dean: "The blade was across the room and then it was in my hand and then my beer drank itself. Oh and then that page magically appeared on the bed, and…and then Bobby's book fell down and out popped the number of the guy who found Cas. Nothing I'm sure." Sam: "Clearly." Dean: "Well then what Sam? Is Bobby here or not?"
    5. Dean: "Uh, so invisible werewolf?" Garth: "Why'd you think I called for backup?"
    4. Sam: "So he…he let that thing out of the box, and it must have just followed him to the place with all the thingies." Dean: "Yes, yes that's smart. I'm actually kind of drunk. What is this? Me likey. I miss these talks."
    3. Marie: "And it doesn't help Dale's wife is suing us." Dean: "Really? Why?" Marie: "She's angry and grieving and this is America."
    2. Sam: "I mean can you even get drunk anymore? It's kind of like…uh, drinking a vitamin for you right?"
    1. Sam: "Hey either of you even heard of Thighslapper Ale?" Garth: "Is that a stripper or a beverage?"

  5. Of Grave Importance quotes: Another totally underrated episode in my opinion. I liked getting the ghost perspective and Annie was awesome. Too bad she was also dead. This is some of the tightest writing infamous duo Buckner and Ross-Lemming have ever done.

    15. Dean: "We combed the cr** out of this place. If Annie's in there and we didn't find her…" Sam: "It's 'cause something didn't want us to." Dean: "Awesome, well let's walk right into that."
    14. Victoria: "I thought you said they were good." Dean: "Hey I'm just processing okay lady? He's dead. You're dead. Define terrible danger."
    13. Victoria: "I saw you here the other day. I know the kind of wok you do…did." Annie: "Hey I'm still doing it…I mean other dimensionally speaking."
    12. Annie: "Is there a fun aspect to this?" Bobby: "Not really and so far, I can't crack the code on any of it. I mean I've seen poltergeists bench a piano as a warm up. I tried to help the boys out once by knocking a book off the table and blacked out for 2 weeks."
    11. Bobby: "I need to help." Sam: "Not if it means you have to…be this."
    10. Bobby: "You're saying we should move cr** with the power of Zen."
    9. Sam: "We're redlining all over the place. Assume the worst?" Dean: "Yah I always do."
    8. Annie: "Oh shut up! I can't believe you. You know what as a regular ghost with no choice in the matter, screw you."
    7. Dean: "What were you thinking Bobby? You could be in heaven right now drinking beer at Harvelle's, not…not stuck…" Bobby: "Stuck here with you? We still have work to do. I just thought that was kind of important Dean." Dean: "It's not right and you know that."
    6. Dean: "Oh I hate these indie films. Nothing ever happens."
    5. Dean: "That's a lot of foxholes."
    4. Bobby: "Yeah I'm a doornail. Bad news here. If you can see me, you are too." Annie: "Wow, dead. Ghost. Me. Three words you never want to use in a sentence. I feel like I was drugged."
    3. Dean: "Well if real evil is partying here, it's got a hell of a cleanup crew."
    2. Bobby: "Ghost Alzheimer's." Annie: "I'm liking this less."
    1. Bobby: "Alright now, I can kill werewolves, fix a Pinto, and bake cornmeal. I will be damned if I can't get Zen."

  6. Out with the Old:

  7. Sam questioning if Dean can even get drunk is one of my favorite Sam quotes. So snarky and so funny.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Favorite sheriff quotes:

"I…I shot the sheriff." (Jus in Bello), have to add Dean saying "but you didn't shoot the deputy" That was so funny.

    2 quotes from Jody:

"Yeah I think Bobby may have had a slight hoarding issue. I could
barely get the door open on that storage locker and…um, I'm pretty sure
something's alive in at least 3 of those boxes." (Time After Time)

"Well yeah, seeing as they were fresh out of 'thanks for saving me
from liver-eating surgeon' cards at the store." (Slash Fiction)

  9. What a clever idea for a hiatus distraction! lol
I have to give it to Hendrickson, for leading to the Dean quote: "But you didn't shoot the deputy" with bonus Sam bitch face. So much love!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thanks! I think every #Supernatural fan I knew at that time said the words with Dean when it first aired. Classic!

    ReplyDelete
  11. It was sometimes hard to pick quotes because a lot of the cop quotes were the lead-in for Dean snark.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Dean: "We combed the cr** out of this place. If Annie's in there and we didn't find her…" Sam: "It's 'cause something didn't want us to." Dean: "Awesome, well let's walk right into that.

    x

Dean: "What were you thinking Bobby? You could be in heaven right now
drinking beer at Harvelle's, not…not stuck…" Bobby: "Stuck here with
you? We still have work to do. I just thought that was kind of
important Dean." Dean: "It's not right and you know that."

    X

Can't say I'm a great fan of this episode. I was used to thinking of ghosts as vengeful spirits and seeing them as an interacting ghost comunity sort of left me a bit meh! However.

    ReplyDelete
  13. . Sam: "I mean can you even get drunk anymore? It's kind of like…uh, drinking a vitamin for you right?"

Your observation was mine too that season!

    X

Sam: "Hey either of you even heard of Thighslapper Ale?" Garth: "Is that a stripper or a beverage?"

Thighslapper ale; really! Thoughts of Alpine yodelling!
    X

It was an okay episode for me. Nothing outstanding.

    ReplyDelete
  14. . Dean: "Screw Cas, quit being Dalai fricking Yoda about this okay? Get p**."

    Ah! Thank you , Dean!

    X

Marin: "Come on tell me I'm young and have everything to live for." Sam: "Why would you believe me?"
    Ever the logical Sammy! :)

  15. Out with the Old

    X

I love this episode. I loved the curses and the reminder of BDABR.

I thought the Leviathans were epic.

    X

Sam: "Wait are…are you…" Dean: "Getting the strong urge to Prince
Siegfried myself into oblivion? Yes." Sam: "You really did see Black
    Swan."

It's always sweet to me when Sam is surprised by his brother knowing or doing something that Sam wouldn't expect of him. :)

    X

. Dean: "Wait, let me get this straight. You want to eat your boss?"

That has to bring a smile to one's face. :)

So many other great quotes too, I see.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I loved Henriksen. He made a great nemesis and would have made a great ally too. Too bad they killed him off.
    Jody, of course is phenomenal.

I have to say, I preferred Diana Ballard to Deacon. I liked the gradual playing out of her belief in the brothers' supernatural world;I liked Officer Kathleen too.
Deacon and Ness already knew about the supernatural and Jake although well played was a baddie!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I was in the minority in that I thought some of the acting choices in The Usual Suspects were overplayed and that makes it a little less fabulous for me, which tipped my hand in favor of Deacon. I didn't mind that Deacon knew about the supernatural and in fact liked the idea that he was a family friend. I really liked that the brothers were loyal enough to him for helping John that they put themselves at incredible risk to help him out.

  18. This, everything with Mensa Monster, and the Roman/Crowley contract negotiation scene were the leviathans at their best in my opinion. If we had more episodes like this the mytharc might not have felt so disjointed and people may have liked season 7 better. Personally I loved season 7 because of its standalones.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I feel your nonlove. For me it's Lucifer that gets the kudos though. He made this episode bearable and then went away just like a good little plot device should do. If only we were so lucky with other ones.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ah Dean drinking his liver to death. That was one thing season 8 got right. I remember watching that line in All Dogs Go to Heaven where Dean is talking about the soon-to-be victim drinking so much that Dean's liver hurt and thinking that Dean was doing the same thing to me.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Our mileage varies here because I really enjoyed seeing more about ghosts and their world after 7 years of putting them down. I also liked that they were all burned at the end so we didn't have any reason to go revisit that plot. For me it worked as a standlone because nothing was left open-ended except Bobby, which was a huge mistake anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mine too. Also Sam asked what i was wondering all season.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I personally would have bet against it. Dean had been drinking so much that I got nauseous sometimes watching him.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I really enjoy Season Seven too.

I am in the minority I suppose, but I liked the Leviathans, especially Edgar and the doctor before he got biibbed, ;)

I loved Dick Roman, his smarmy little smile got me every time.

For me the season went gradually downhill from the BAI episode except for parts of eps; a sad foreshadowing to the 'troubled' season eight!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mmm. Lucifer was top-notch in this ep. He was so annoying, I could have reached into the screen and strangled him myself! Poor Sammy!

    ReplyDelete
  26. This episode was actually the one were Lucifer became to much for me and then he left for good. It's the first time I have thoroughly enjoyed a character's timing. Most get killed off too early or way too late for me. Lucifer had perfect timing in season 7.

    ReplyDelete
  27. My favorite leviathan will always be Mensa Monster because he was so funny, plus everything does taste better with cheese. I didn't have much of a problem with Dick Roman but he always worked better when playing off of other characters. The news interviews and scenes with other leviathans tended to fall flat for me. I thought the scene in the limo with Dean in Death's Door was riveting. Every time he was on screen with Crowley was gold. He did come off as a little over the top in the scene with Bobby in HtWF&IM for me though.

The Born-Again Identity was my turning point in season 7 also. Before that I thought the season was great. It went rapidly downhill from there though. In season 3 my turning point was after the writers' strike. That season was simply brilliant before that point. In season 4 it was I Know What You Did Last Summer. Sadly in season 8 it was about 10 minutes into We Need to Talk about Kevin.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, the Mensa monster was great, and maybe the scene Roman/ Bobby was a little too chatty, but on the whole I liked him.
    X

As for s3, it seems strange to me that they went with the Ghostfacers ep etc..

Even with the strike, would they not have had the episodes they intended to go with written before-hand and if not, where did the ones they did film come from?
    X

As for season four, it's probably different watching for the first time from a DVD, as the story flows better, and although I hated the tension between the brothers; I could understand where it was coming from, unlike season eight where it came out of thin air like a rabbit from a top hat!
However there was definitely a lot to dislike about season four.

    X

I'm surprised that you had given up on season 8 as early as that.

I had the impression that you were willing to give it a go, for a while anyway.
I gave up on season 8 before it even started, when it was said that Sam wasn't going to look for Dean.
If there had been some supernatural ( or non ) explanation for it, even in the last episode of the season, it would have changed everything for me, but there wasn't and I'm reallly pi++ed about it!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sorry, let me clarify. I don't mean give up on when I say turning point. I mean the point at which the season started sucking hard and never recovered. It's something I can only determine after the whole season is over and it doesn't necessarily mean that there weren't good episodes after that point. For instance, season 1 and 2 have no turning point for me. I may not like certain episodes but overall it was good throughout. Season 3 was my favorite season right until we came back from the writers' strike, where they absolutely wasted 3 episodes out of 4 and they really could not afford to. So while I love season 3, probably more than seasons 1 and 2 on an episode-by-episode level, there was a definite turning point in that season. After seeing all of season 8, the turning point was 10 minutes in. The opening was awesome and then Jeremy Carver bashed canon over the head and left it and the brother bond to slowly bleed out until the show died. It never recovered. I hoped it would (I trusted that it would) and I was willing to give it a chance until around March/April with Taxi Driver being the final nail in the coffin. Before that I had never given up on SPN even in the rough patches.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Agree. Dean was drinking too much. season wasn't reached second half when i was hoping that his drinking will stops, because that much drinking annoyed me and maked me feel uncomfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Uncomfortable is a great way to put it. They had him drinking so much that they almost needed to make it an issue the show addressed but then they never did. I'm good if they keep the drinking to a minimum these days and certainly not having Dean boozing out on the job.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks for the ulterior explanation.:)
It's logical to judge the season after having seen all the episode. One can make a better assessment.

As I said, for me however,s8 started on the wrong foot.
The pre-season spoilers of non-looking and the Sam love story stuff was unencouraging, especially as I was expecting it to be Sam who got Dean out of Purgatory or something similar.
Dean did look smoking hot in Purgatory but he always looks good and that's not enough to substitue a good story-line.I would have loved for both brothers to end up in Purgatoy for a few episodes at least, and encounter monsters they had defeated on Earth, especially the borderline ones like Lenore and Madison or Amy for that matter.
The Benny character could have attached himself to the brothers if the writers were determined to have him around.
Running through the woods would probably have been a money-saving move as far as sets were concerned too! :)

It irks me to think of all the things Carver could have done and didn't he deciding to go with half a season of unpleasant brorther wars when at the end of season seven, the brothers were fine with each other.
Unfortunately what's done is done and as everyone kept harping on at poor Dean in season seven; "Just suck up and take it"; I'll just have to apply it to myself! sigh!

  33. I agree and I am TRYING to "Just suck up and take it", but I sure don't have to like it and as a small protest, I will only buy a used set of DVDs this year. lol

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeah. I'm with you there.

The DVD is a problem for me too as I wouldn't want to buy it, but as the rest of my family haven't seen the episodes yet and have loved the past seasons, I don't want to spoil their enjoyment by telling them how bad I think it is; so I'm going to have to end up getting it, as they want the sub-titles too
However buying used is a good idea.

  35. I buy most of my used videos and books from half.com, find them the cheapest place to buy. This will be the first time I have not pre-ordered SPN from Amazon, but like I said just a small protest. BTW, I have read several of the SPN between the eps books and found most of them as good as watching an ep. I do go by the comments about them and if a lot don't care for them I tend to stay away. One had the year of Baby wrong and I figured if they could not even get that right, I did not want to read the book. lol

  36. My ideal scenario after season 7 had the wrong 2 people trapped in Purgatory was that Sam would find a way to get Dean out but it required him to go to Purgatory himself. The brothers would spend 2-3 episodes at minimum in Purgatory fighting monsters and struggling to get out.

  37. I hated "just suck it up and take it" when they said to Dean over and over again . I have no intention of doing so myself.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I will get it only when it's under $20 and only because not having the complete set for someone to borrow would bug me. Normally I pre-order from Amazon (cancelled that) and buy it from Target or Best Buy, depending on which has an extra in it that year. That way I have one that is only for me and one to lend out. It's not uncommon for me to get a third or fourth copy around Christmas when they go on sale for contest prizes. This year I'm getting one and it will stay in the box unopened until someone requests it. I will also not be subscribing to SPN on iTunes anymore.

  39. The first book I read was horrible - Nevermore. It had the nerve to say that Dean was too scared to drive in the big bad city and therefore only Sam could drive. Dean also did nothing but listen to music in the guy's house because the case I guess was too hard for him. Worst depiction of a series I have ever read and I've read tie-in novels since Buffy. It took me until last year to pick up another SPN novel tie-in. While they weren't quite as bad as the first one, there were glaring errors in both of them and the writing wasn't all that great in one. I overall was very disappointed in the tie-ins, especially since some of the Buffy tie-ins were so amazing that I talked my non-Buffy friends into reading them and they loved them too.

  40. I had double copies of Buffy and Angel and one was loaned out most of the time. Have never had more than one of SPN and lend it VERY carefully. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I hate to not have a show on hand when I want to see a specific episode, so if I think it's going to be lent out I sometimes get 2 copies. I have doubles of some Buffy seasons too.

  42. 'Suck it up and take it' as in season eight exists now, whether we want it to or not; it's official canon, so either one ignores it completely or tries to take any good moments from it and treasure them.
For me the fairies must have come along and left a changeling season in the place of the one we should have had. :)

I have been rewatching season seven and I'm up to Plucky's, and I'm so annoyed with Carver AND his writers for ruining a further season which I could have had the pleasure of watching if he had showran it differently.

As it is, although I have access to the season eight eps, I don't even desire to watch them again. Thanks for that Carver!
However I still hope that season nine can do better; that's not saying a lot as it couldn't do much worse.
When the first spoilers start to creep out, we'll have an idea of the direction Carver is taking it; maybe this time Dean will get the big love affair, seeing the Samelia one didn't bear the required fruits!

  43. I have rewatched a few of the ep from s8 right after they aired, but have not gone back for a full rewatch. Like you, just can't bring myself to do it..yet. Am also hoping for a MUCH better season 9.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I refuse to "suck it up and take" season 8 so I have mind wiped it. Didn't exist in my world. I'm happier that way. I still say season 8 was shapeshifters but I am willing to entertain the notion of changelings.

As for season 9, I'll raise you and say that I am 96% sure it will be better. Like you it's hard to imagine it could be worse. However if you keep saying hideous things like "Dean love affair" you are going to jinx it. Can't everyone concentrate on getting rid of the angels once and for all and saving some people occasionally?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I've seen every season 8 episode between 2 and 6 times (except Taxi Driver which I'm not sure I'll ever watch again), with majority being 4 times. As a whole they didn't get better on the rewatch so I think I need a whole lot more time before revisiting them.

    ReplyDelete
  46. As far as the angels are concerned,I think we're going to be stuck with them, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for heroic winning brothers to come back.

However, they say if you voice your fears they will go away so I'm going with that theory about Dean.
The last thing I would have thought was going to happen at the end of season seven was that they would give Sam a girlfriend in S8, and it happened; so If I anticipate it this time I may save Dean from the same fate!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think we all are hoping it will be better, and I find it difficult to understand those who say this season is as good as season one and SO much better than 6 and 7, regardless whether they are a fan of this or that character.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Four words: Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie.

See how well that theory worked out for those kids. Just saying. :-P

  49. The FAMILY business, killing monsters and saving people.

    ReplyDelete
  50. One thing I learned very quickly about the Supernatural fandom is it is NEVER united about anything until someone attacks the show or we have a contest to win. So many people watch for so many different things that there is a varied opinion on everything. I cannot fathom how anyone could like season 8 period, much less better than seasons 6 and 7, but it does not surprise me that people do. Remember also though that the online fandom, while extremely loud and vocal, is still just a tiny portion of the entire fandom. I would love to hear what everyday fans who avoid the online circus thought of this season.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Well in The French Mistake world where SPN is only a tv show, magic doesn't exist, so Plucky's can't be counted! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Absolutely. Of course my definition of family on this show is a lot different than many. I want the brothers fighting monsters, saving people, kicking butt, and tossing the angels back in heaven where they belong, never to be seen again. That is my pie in the sky dream for season 9. I have about as much chance of getting it as Dean has of actually getting to eat pie.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Now wait a minute, if we are in the French Mistake world the brothers don't exist either. That is not a world I care to think about.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I liked a lot of the eps, but the bad taste the awful writing for Sam not looking, has tainted the whole season, if that had not happened, it would have been up close to my favorite season. I just can not get past that and I kept waiting for them to fix it and am still waiting. lol

    ReplyDelete
  55. Okay then, let's say there is an intersection betwen the two realities and voicing my fears in this one affects the brothers' reality too, in a positive way. x_x. I think?!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Is there any episode you liked particularly, for IMO practically all the episodes had something to nit-pick about them; if not bad writing, then errors; not respecting past canon or OOC re-hashed arguing and stuff.

Not to mention Amelia, Bitten, Dog-lady, killing poor Sarah etc.

Other than two or three episodes, It's hard to pick out any really memorable ones.

    ReplyDelete
  57. We Need to Talk About Kevin, loved the flashbacks with feral Dean and Benny, I try to forget Sam did not look for Dean.

Blood Brothers, Dean and Benny again

A Little Slice of Kevin, again flashbacks and exc CG

Hunter Heroic, just a fun ep

    Citizen Fang, enjoyed Benny's story

As Time Goes By, liked Henry and Abbadon and MoL

Everybody Hates Hilter, love the Golem and guys finding "Batcave"

Goodbye Stranger, Meg, Cas, Naomi, Crowley..loved it.

And I liked Sacrifice, some weird stuff, but over all thought it was a good finale and I have a little hope for next season.

Amelia & Bitten were both bad choices for the show, but I did not have the problem with "dog lady" and never saw a problem..I mean no one had sex with an animal and no one got upset when Sam was having sex with a Demon or a werewolf. The first part of that ep was priceless when Sam was telling Dean about the dog and Dean is looking at a woman on the bed..YEAH SHE CAN STAY. lol Classic Dean.
