It was an ok start of the season, all set ups all the while drumming what I suspect the season theme of "power corrupts, absolute power etc..." in our heads... I guess we'll have to see how the new showrunner will run things as I didn't get much out of this ep. I got a kick out of Andy and his "advanced offspring", and really am kinda disappointed with Jason's development - we all knew he wasn't bright, but they really made him seem pretty stupid as it was soooooo obvious that was Wardlow, and even if it wasn't he should know better than to divulge that much info to someone that he was suspicious of before... I guess we'll just see how the season turns out
-Billith seems to not only be 'born again', but a host/medium for Lilith -Warlow was Lilith's protege' -Governor of Louisiana seems jerky/double standards -Nice to see Tara comfort Pam no matter what Pam says to her (would like Pam to stop being so hurt) - Don't trust Nora think she's too interested in Sookie, Warlow, Lilith - Andy's babies are growing up so fast! -So sad to see Luna go, but some of us speculated this would be the case (poor Emma, but I enjoyed the scene between her, Sam, and Laffeyette. -Kind of board with the werewolf threesome...Will Alcede get hooked on V now? -Billith cannot be staked (Woah--Sookie!!) -Almost thought Jess was goner! -Couldn't tell if she was really mad at Sookie, or if she was trying to save them, but I think after her near death summoning, she's nuts to think she can control and talk sense to Bill! -Warlow/Jason scene was my fav!! -It seems like he picked a car near similar to the car their parents were driving the night of the murder! -I wonder if the reason Jason and Sookie's parents being SO anti-vamp has to do with Warlow manipulating their spirits (because isn't it weird they were not there on Halloween during the end of season 4?) So glad the writers just gave us Warlow point blank and we didn't have to do more guessing.
well, same old mix of awesomeness and cheesy camp as it ever was... but whatever happens this season, Rutger Hauer as Warlow has me hooked in for the long haul.
I'm really happy they revealed Warlow in the season premiere instead of just dragging it even longer in the later episodes. I was getting really worried Jessica was going to die when she threw up all that blood but I was happy she was okay. I really hope Nora or Tara are the ones that die this season but I have a small feeling that Pam will die and that will KILL me. She is being too much of a tough ass and intimidates everyone (which I love) but that will just get her killed somehow. I really hope I'm wrong. Anyways, loved the premiere!
Kinda agree. Wasn't expecting it to be awesome or anything, so I just went along with it and I found it enjoyable enough, but it wasn't something that really got me excited for the weeks to come.
It was ok, I mean I know they have to drag the answers out over the whole season. I am excited to see how it unfolds. Also am I the only one who is getting tired of the whole wolves story line? It just seems to make less sense every season. Jessica standing by Bill, I can see why she is doing it but I think it will backfire on her. Jason is back to hating vampires, that's not a surprise. As for Tara all I can say about her is sit down and shut the hell up. I do not trust Nora AT ALL and I do not think I will. Eric and Sookie "breaking up" no surprise there. Over all it was an ok episode.
I liked lots of moments...Sookie and Jess, Jess and Bill, the Mayor (govenor?) getting Tru Blood back into production, every Lafayette moment. I could still do without Alcide's story - it's too apart from Bon Temps.
I must note that that my biggest happy happy joy joy was the fact that they got Rutger Hauer to lay Warlow! It just seemed hilariously perfect casting to me because Warlow's name + the casting made me think of Hauer's character in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. I saw his face and thought how absolutely, gloriously perfect.
It was a pretty good premiere, but something about the writing, especially the dialogue, seemed a little bit off to me. I just really hope they're going to kill of some characters this season, because I'm not sure I can handle another season of 20 subplots...
Love it the only thing is don't like Jason hating on the vampires they didn't killed his parents only one did make me want his character to die and he one of my favorite just didn't like the way he treated Tara they grew up together and just because she a vampire doesn't mean he should treat her or Jessica with disrespect just because their kind killed his parents and if that the case he should blame Sookie because if wasn't for her blood their parents wouldn't have been killed overall love episode
I think we have a pretty good idea that he is Warlow. Besides the implication in car, Sookie's Fae contract starting glowing, suggesting it was "active", which makes sense if Warlow is now able to cross the into this reality and corporeally come into physical contact with Jason. It also seems like it's the case because we learned that Warlow was Lilith's protoge'--and I doubt it's a coinsidence that Warlow would cross over when Lilith does.
Plus the actor played Barlow, a sadistical Vampire from a TV adaptation of Stephen King's Salem's Lot!
Although I agree it would have been easier to kill him by his own hand/fangs, this image of Warlow does not match the image of him as vampire from last season...I'm not sure if a vampire is all Warlow is. We know Fae change their appearances.... Additionally the scene is done in such a way to be dramatic and to remind the audience and Jason of the night of Jason's parent's murder, but again having the vampire make it look like an accident. But the scene also paralleled another scene, like what Demon-Lafayette did to Sookie's car last season. ( I need to check, but S & J's parents may have had a station wagon like this one...If it is a replica, then we can see just how powerful Warlow is because he literally pulled out something from the past and placed it in the present!)
Maybe there will be other reasons why Warlow did it this way. Something that pertains to Jason directly?
Well a lot of it is being channeled from the spirits of his parents. They have been encouraging Jason to be anti-vamp since the end of the last season....
I kind of wonder though if they really are the spirit's Jason't parents, or if they're being manipulated to behave this way, and/or they are not at peace, (are trapped) because of Warlow...they were not there during Halloween Night in season four when the spirits rose to take Marnie back to a spirit realm with them....
Also forgot to mention that this was Stephen Moyer's directorial debut! You did fantastic, Mr. Moyer! There was a real dramatic and spooky feel and I felt you made the scenes and the dialogue seem more crisp. It seems like season six has a different tone. It made me feel more intrigued, while also still having a fun time.
It was okay. I always feel that the show is at its best when there are many characters on the same arc so I loved the opening scenes with Pam, Eric, Jessica, Sookie, Jason, Nora and Tara all together and with it intercepting the governong speech. But they insist on separating everyone, let's see where it goes. I always like Sam and Alcide stories ,so I am okay with those and the screentime was appropriate, even if they were not in line with everything else that was going on. But Andy storyline is just pointless IMO. Let's see.
I'm not sure how pointless it is yet, because I know we're suppose to explore the more personal side to Holly this season. With that being said, these Fae children could either need protected (depending on what Warlow and Lilith really are and what Lilith's and Warlow's plans are) up to certain point and/or if he finds his maternal side, he may be torn about what side be on in this war, depending on where Fae will stand in it. If they grow up and just run away after protecting them for a time, Andy might either become depressed, or it might make him want to become a father to a human child (again it would add onto Holly's story with him). -I'm also not sure how "part Feas" just turn up in families that haven't had Fae relatives for a while and if it's possible that one child may not flee from home? But imagine if they were willing to protect Andy and those he cares about. At the very least they could be comical.
Loved that it cleared up some of the mud from last season. I hope the new show runner will have a clearer vision of where its going and focuses less on so many story lines.. It looks to be off to a great start.
Hum .. Warlow being Liliths protege is interesting, so if that's the case and Bill is also a protege, I will have to think on this for a bit, very interesting Idea with great fodder for story telling
Not bad. It wasn't the best episode but it wasn't a bad episode either. The best part was, unlike last season, there wasn't any part of the episode that really annoyed me or pissed me off. It was a solid episode throughout. If True Blood can keep that up, the show will easily pass the lowly season 5 in terms of quality.
- I like Nora's fascination with Sookie. It's amusing. - I really wanted to slap Jessica when she lashed out at Sookie for staking bill. - Speaking of slapping, Someone needs to keep slapping Jason until he's not an annoying little bitch anymore. - Except for his treatment of Pam, Eric was extremely... nice. It furthers my suspicions that they're going to kill him off. I hope I'm wrong. - Warlow is already amusing. I think I'm going to like that character. - All the wolfpack stuff was crap. Nothing but nudity, merkins, and Alcide beginning his inevitable downward spiral into becoming the same kind of douche Bill was last season. - Andy's babies becoming toddlers and freaking out the family was damn funny. - The Lafayette / Sam scene was really nice.
All in all, a decent start to the season. I didn't like everything that was going on but I never do anyway so that's no big deal.
Ever since they announced it, I thought could be Eric too (which breaks my heart), especially, like you said, they made him be so nice here....but my second thought is Jason.
Back in season one I always thought it was weird how they presented Bill's civil war flashback at the same time as Jason hallucinating himself being 'the screaming soldier boy' while high on V during Bill's presentation for The Descendants of the Glorious Dead meeting...In some ways, I could see this fall back to season 2 Jason, possibly working towards freeing/avenging the spirits of his parents as final arc... Of course just because someone dies one this show, doesn't mean they're gone. This whole thing with Lilith and Warlow seems very temporal like season 4. Jason has always been looking for "a mission" and I could see this being the big one!
If Jason dies, I don't think it'll be something that was planned or foreshadowed since season one. Since the series premiere, True Blood has dropped the creator and two showrunners and TB isn't a show that seems to plan anything too far in advance. So, if Jason bites the dust I believe it will be an idea that has been recently cultivated.
"Of course, 'Kill Bill' has been dropped too, and although I could totally live with that, it almost seems too convenient." Strangely enough, I'd be fine with Bill dying as well.
Even though it has gone through showrunners, I still say there is consistency in the sense that each season does build and mirror things presented in previous seasons in terms of the mythology. Considering Bill is the on to bring forth Lilith's plans, which then Warlow was also a type of protege' to Lilith before and considering Warlow's relationship with Fae, I would say most certainly they are building of season 1 on that front, while I also think the ethereal-apirit stuff goes hand in hand with season 4, which mirrored season 2--which Jason is now paralleling (and so may a return of a guest star)
Well, I don't think it mattered so much what Jason divulged, because it seems Warlow was waiting for him, which interesting, since Sookie is allegedly the one he is suppose to be interested in. Why bother with Jason at all?? The spirits of his parents also were in the back seat of the car...you think they would have warned him, but instead it's like they have been pushing/leading him to confront Warlow...
I don't want to judge it till I see where it goes, but ya, I could have done without the warewolves story line, especially since I think the Ware-V-addict thing is beyond over-used at this point.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm a little underwhelmed right now. I think I will just wait for the season to wrap and watch them all in one sitting.
ReplyDeleteWell, i really liked this premiere. it was intense, electric..and i’m actually very excited to see what comes next. Glad to see True Blood back!
ReplyDeleteWasn't the best, but it wasn't te worst either. I can say it was better than most of last season's though.
ReplyDeleteI'm w/you! I loved it! The season looks to be very exciting! Can't wait until next Sunday!

-Kind of board with the werewolf threesome...Will Alcede get hooked on V now?
-Billith cannot be staked (Woah--Sookie!!)
-Almost thought Jess was goner! -Couldn't tell if she was really mad at Sookie, or if she was trying to save them, but I think after her near death summoning, she's nuts to think she can control and talk sense to Bill!

So far I think I like this season!
I'm with you both! Thought it was fun, exciting, and a little spooky! Glad it's back! :)

I'm a bit disappointed with this last season. I'm waiting to see how much more ridiculous this show will get. This season is looking more promising
