Necessary Roughness - 3.02 - Gimme Some Lovin' - Preview

Necessary Roughness airs on Wednesdays at 10/9 C on the USA Network.

Previously on Necessary Roughness, Dr. Dani was offered a job at the prestigious V3 management firm owned by self-made businessman Connor McClane. His business partner Troy Cutler was less pleased as was Dr. Dani after finding out that Nico also works there.

After a rocky start at V3, things get…well, rockier as Dr. Dani is tagged with helping an out-of-control former child actress fulfill her first studio contract as a leading lady. This actress "makes Lindsay Lohan look responsible," but Dr. Dani is having her own adjustment issues. V3 is a whole new experience and being thrown into a world of assistants, company cars, and expense accounts overwhelms her. While boss Connor McClane tries to woo her through the process, CFO Troy Cutler asks for Nico's help to get rid of her. It's unclear why he is so adamant, but since he's played by David Anders, it's a good bet he's up to no good.

Meanwhile TK is not feeling the love of his new coach and won't take no for an answer. He is determined to keep Dr. Dani as his therapist even after she tells him that her contract with V3 precludes her from seeing private patients. TK's persistence lands him in a sticky situation where he has to determine where his priorities lie and how much he is willing to risk. It also answers one of my big questions from the premiere.

Much of this episode sets up the environment of V3 and the new characters, explores Dani's discomfort with corporate life, and reminds us why Connor is willing to pay so much to have her on board. It's the jumping off point for the series reboot and the new character Paloma, Dani's assistant, is a real winner. Those interested in the Dani and Nico relationship should especially enjoy two moments in the episode as well, since they are required to work together for this client of the week.

Best scene - the ending

Lessons of the week:

Beware euphoric recall. As Buffy said, "Love makes you do the wacky."
"Even caretakers need a little TLC."
"People are more afraid of success than they are of failure."
Reading labels is vital.
Self-control is more valuable than impulse.
YouTube videos never die.

Best lines:

"I guess I just need to watch the whole movie instead of just the good parts."
"I'm telling you we should cut our losses." "And I'm telling you we don't shoot our wounded."
"Oh well I raised 2 teenagers so I eat moody for breakfast."
"Walk toward the light."

  2. I like the reboot with V3 and Dani's kids being gone. I think it is the breath of fresh air the show needed.

  3. Sounds good. I love TK. Is this new job supposed to be a permanent change? They need to keep TK, so he needs to have a tie-in to whatever Dani is doing. Not sure how that would work with her not working for the Hawks.

  4. That was my big question too from the premiere and it is answered in this episode.

  5. He's probably going to switch agents in this episode, seeing how that's the only way I see him still being able to see Dani.
