Part of me hoped they did not film that scene too, but part of me thought it was one of the more striking visual memories of the books and deserved to be in the series...
Yes it is such a stunning image, I was hoping they would just maybe quickly flash to it or something. I am just imagining the outrage already though, people don't like animals being hurt!
True. I never understand the outrage over animal deaths (or injuries) more than humans personally, but I know many people are extremely affected by animal deaths on screen.
Oh My God. I didn't think they would do this. I can die now. That's too much for me. Reading this, 5 years ago, was too much. Watching this is tooooooo much.
Really??? Like watching Grey Wind dying wasn't enough for me (yes, I'm one of those person who are more affected by animals deaths than humans one, no shame)
I think it's because animals aren't the one's making these intentional-political-destructive choices. So when they die at the expense of humanity, it comes off as killing something innocent...like human's playing God.
Personally for me it depends on who and/or what dies in relation to what, but I do think films/TV go out of their way to make animal deaths equally as cruel as some human deaths.
I missed it, and now can't find it either. I wondered if they would not include it, thought it would be a step too far (before I remembered it's on HBO, not CW, NBC etc.)
Noooo :( Just hunted this down on twitter, I'm also one of the suckers who find animal deaths/pain more shocking/awful/hard to watch/think about than a humans.. They are so innocent, and don't understand whats happening which is the hardest part about it all. Poor Grey Wind.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oh shit they are doing it, I thought maybe we had been spared the horror but nope.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, ha ha!
ReplyDeleteWow, they actually did it, I didn't think they would.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's just me,but you have no idea how much I wanted them to leave this part out!
ReplyDeleteWoah!
ReplyDeleteomg i was hoping for that too, now i don't want to watch it :'(
ReplyDeleteOMG :( thats just cruel.
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck? Oh hell,is that a Direwolf's head????
ReplyDeleteOMG what the hell is going to happen??
That sent chills down my spine

ReplyDeleteEither way I dread seeing it on screen.

I'm glad they kept that idea from the book.

ReplyDeleteThey're gonna get letters from PETA...
ReplyDeleteDirewolves don't exist...
ReplyDeleteYou need to accept an obviously sarcastic statement as an obviously sarcastic statement.
ReplyDeleteNeither do Tanooki (technically) and Pokemon, but PETA has complained about them being abused too.

Maybe there is a lesser known sub-branch called PETFA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Fantasy Animals)? XD
ReplyDeleteI hope they show how they connected the parts, that would be hilarious.
ReplyDeleteWe should start that to mock PETA! :P
ReplyDeleteI missed it, and now can't find it either.

ReplyDeleteGoogle Image search, type in "Robbwind", and you'll find it in seconds ;D
ReplyDeleteAnyway, some sites say it was a fan-made mock-up, so we'll have to see if it is indeed happening and/or real.
