@bbcdoctorwho fans, contrary to rumours there is no #DoctorWho casting announcement today.
— BBC One (@BBCOne) June 8, 2013
It looks like this rumour is indeed false as the BBC have confirmed there will be no announcement today after all. Therefore I guess the three suggestions are also false.
We can confirm there is no #DoctorWho announcement planned for today.

It appears that one of the Sunday papers may have caught wind of who has been cast from a photo shoot done this week, so the rumour is that the BBC will release the info themselves later on today. Starburst have more on the story, and name the three contenders as Domhnall Glesson (Bill Weasley from Harry Potter), Daniel Kaluuya (Mac from The Fades) and Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark from Captain America). Which of those three do you see as the Doctor, or would you prefer someone else?
A little birdy tells me that the actor/actress chosen for the 12th Doctor will be announced tomorrow. No idea who #doctorwho #12thDoctor

DrWho:The three 'D's' @starburst_mag has full story here: starburstmagazine.com/tv-news/5530-t… From what I know, I agree with all of it. But lets see...

..what tomorrow brings.& lets hope the tabloids & scandal rags don't hijack this 'DoctorWho story for their own(usually BBC Bashing) motives

Of those three I'd go with Glesson, thought he was great in his Black Mirror episode earlier this year. Cooper is too big a name (though I think he'd be an interesting choice) but I'm afraid Kaluuya is too young imo.
ReplyDeleteOH, SHIT YEEEEEEEEEEES! I'm sad because of Matt leaving, but also really excited to see who will be the new doctor. Mmmmm, are all great choices for the part!
ReplyDeleteIf it is Gleeson, then he'll finally be ginger!
ReplyDeleteIf we can't have Rupert Grint at least one of the other brothers from the most famous ginger screen family as a possibility, lol
ReplyDeleteDomhnall Gleeson FTW!!!! Let him be ginger already!!!! xD
ReplyDeleteIt also looks like he's the only one who isn't actually doing anything right now.
ReplyDeleteMy money's on it being someone no one's even suggested yet. Moffat played this game three years ago when Matt Smith was cast.
ReplyDeleteNot convinced at all with thse options.I hope they keep looking.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Kaluuya in anything else, but the shallow person in me is all for it cause damn he is fine.
ReplyDeleteDominic Cooper , then Domhnall Glesson, then just no on the young dude. i don't want old at all, but i definitely don't want a young young dude like him
ReplyDeletei also wish they would make the doctor wise up for the twelfth, like he is been at this for so long1000+ years, and he will be very vary of situations that will cause him to regenerate, and as such he will last longer for 4-5 years, alas let the show go one, its space and time (stuff of the infinity) yea u can not run out of materiel for it.
ReplyDeleteor
if they maintain the 3 years regeneration i hope something creatively awesome is revealed from the 13th doctor that lets the show go on.
I would die if it was Kaluuya he was excellent in The Fades and Black Mirror
ReplyDeleteWhat?
ReplyDeleteGleeson is interesting. I like the idea.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see about this, though.
On the other hand, David Tennant was widely discussed before being cast.
ReplyDeleteThe BBC have just said there will be no announcement today.
ReplyDeleteCooper - no. Gleeson - maybe. Kaluuya - never seen his acting, so I can't give an opinion. However, I think this whole rumor is probably unfounded. Those guys may have auditioned, but from recent comments by Jenna-Louise Coleman, I'm inclined to believe that we won't be hearing the 12th Doctor announcement for quite a while yet.
ReplyDeleteGleeson all the way!!! SO EXCITED FOR NOVEMBER AND THE 50th ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTrue, but that's when RTD was running the show. Moffat has this fascination with trolling people, in any way he possibly can.
ReplyDeleteI don't wanna be THAT guy but I totally put Gleeson's name in the ring on your poll a week ago as a more realistic option.

And I'll be damn happy if he is chosen.
No point in getting excited at this point, people. I think we can count on the search taking a long time.
ReplyDeleteHow about we go with what the Nerdist said a few years back..? lol
