What ever happened to shows starting in September??
ReplyDeleteBecause it is paired with The Originals which needs to premiere after the Vampire Diaries. It's a much better plan for SPN anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe majority of CW shows premiered the week of October 8th last year. It is not much different except all fall shows had premiered by the 19th.
ReplyDeletePeople stopped watching shows when they returned after long winter hiatuses. Starting later means shorter breaks within the actual season.
ReplyDeleteAh ok. Makes sense. Thanks :)
ReplyDeletecan't wait for Reign and the return of TVD!
ReplyDeleteWhat about "The100"?
ReplyDeleteThe 100 and Star-Crossed are mid-season shows.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind so much the later start for SPN. It's torture until then, but it means shorter breaks during the season...and that's okay by me! :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for BATB!! and of course Arrow, TVD, and some of the new shows I will likely check out too. The CW has become my most watched network! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda glad they're starting that late. Less breaks, is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bummer not to see Nikita on the list. :/ Although, generally speaking, I'm in NO hurry for Season 4 to arrive because then the end is nigh. With 6 episodes, it's over before you know it (at least with network shows where you're used to 22).
ReplyDeleteI bet Reign will get canned, although it it's a 13 episode season, it'll probably air all its episodes unlike its ratings are as bad as Cult's. It's funny how The CW refuses to give up on the post-TVD timeslot, no matter how many shows tank there. Well, they'll reap the rewards.
ReplyDeleteThey were all cancelled.
ReplyDeleteI remember back in the day, The X-Files premiered in November a few seasons. God, that sucked.
ReplyDeleteSecond half was a bit better. I'm curious enough about the power being back on and nukes flying towards Philadelphia and Atlanta to tune in come fall.
ReplyDeleteor murder mysteries.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't aware that The 100 was a mid-season.
ReplyDeleteSo I only have two Wednesdays of slight calmness before my head explodes on 9th October. Damn networks airing all the good shows together. Despite that, can't wait for Arrow and TTP. Arrow is awesome and TTP looks very strong. Good family pairing too.
ReplyDeleteThat means I have to wait til mid-October for American Horror Story, Grimm (which I'm catching up on), Dracula, The Tomorrow People and The Vampire Diaries. Yay?
ReplyDeleteCan't really fault the networks for deciding to premier those shows in mid-October given the circumstances or what genre those shows are and the month
ReplyDeleteOh I know plus less hiatuses but still. :)
ReplyDeleteWhy did they move Supernatural to the 15th, was supposed to be coming back on October 1st.
ReplyDeleteThere's still the vampires shows as teen dramas
ReplyDeleteReally?Why?
ReplyDeleteReign is supposed to be a limited series, so barring a complete disaster it will likely air all its episodes through to mid season and then be replaced by either Star Crossed or The 100.
ReplyDeleteWell at least the wait for Wednesday nights won't be long comparatively. Grimm doesn't air until late October. Glad that's not the case with Arrow and Tomorrow People. I will also check out a couple episodes of Reign but since they are promoting "love triangle" I am not overly optimistic.
ReplyDeleteI see.Thanks for clarifying it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, if we're lucky, The CW will run the all-Originals cut of the episode the week before the series premiere. *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteIt gives them a week to promote Supernatural/Originals and during their other top shows' premieres. Supernatural debuted a week before almost everything else last year with a 0.8 demo. It was between a 0.9 and 1.0 most other weeks. This year it almost has to premiere a week later because they need to promote the Originals premiere during the Vampire Diaries premiere to make the most of that launch. They learned last year that they need premiere both shows in a night on the same day.
ReplyDeleteI think it was really smart of the CW. Better than having Supernatural being 1 of only 2 dramas debuting in a week like they did last year.
ReplyDeleteI'm particularly sad about Grimm. I was hoping it would start in mid-September. Oh well. At least we should avoid a 4 month break in the middle.
ReplyDeleteI never saw this date announced as official. It was more a guess since last season started Oct. 3rd
ReplyDeleteWithout 90210 :(!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for that reasoning. Last year Arrow didn't premiere on the same night as SPN because networks were airing political debates; this Fall TO has to be clear of the mega - promotion ABC's SHIELD will receive and a later start will ensure this.
ReplyDeleteI AM worried that I can't find any more SPN reruns scheduled after 7/24/13. The double repeats likely hurt "us". SPN went three weeks without reruns before the S3 premiere and returned to very lackluster ratings. (The demo matched the S2's finale but later episodes' demo and total viewers were higher - a very unusual situation until S8 - which also matched the S7 finale's demo but went higher the week after when paired with Arrow).
From 7/24 to October 15 is over three months. I hope the rerun schedule is altered to allow 8 pm repeats but I can't find any yet.
from what I know it seems to be completely new episode for the actual pilot
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the Originals premiere should be a week before than scheduled. It's practically the same episode (4x20) with a few new scenes added.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember where I read it,but it said that the premiere was going to be the backdoor pilot (without the MF storyline with Elena) + new footage
ReplyDeleteWow, Oct 15, that is a looooonnnng way away, hope Dahne has lots of polls lined up to keep us SPN fans slightly sane. lol
ReplyDeleteIf the later start keeps the breaks from being so long I am all for it.
ReplyDeleteThe 100 and Starcrossed are both midseason.
ReplyDeleteBased on the example, I think Jay is referring to teen dramas that don't have supernatural elements.
ReplyDeleteI guess the days of teen dramas are over. What happened to shows like The OC, One Tree Hill, and Dawson's Creek?
ReplyDeleteThe actual pilot will be a new episode.
ReplyDeleteDang, the shows are premiering later and later each year. I'm excited for Beauty, Tomorrow... (and Star Crossed + 100 when they do make it on the air)
ReplyDeleteThat particular genre has migrated over to ABC Family.
ReplyDeleteno Nikita till 2014:(
