  1. Now here we have some good news and some bad. I really don't understand the moving of Hawaii from Monday to Friday. And an interesting move from Thursday to Tuesday of POI.

Why did they move Person of Interest?!

  4. Tuesday nights are going to be power packed for CBS. I'm interested to see Person of Interest's ratings after the NCIS duo.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Which matters not one jot because H5-O will have enough episodes for syndication this coming season. Hence why it was renewed.

  6. Whoa, premiere dates already! Can't wait!

  7. I can't wait for Elementary and POI !

  8. Because Person of Interest fits well with its Tuesday night programming, it has a solid enough fan base to risk the move, and it's counterprogramming to ABC but Tuesday night is still big enough to make sure Person of Interest has a cushion. Or CBS just wants to decimate NBC's Chicago Fire and officially make NBC a netlet.

  9. At the upfronts, CBS mentioned via one of their spokesmen that they had conducted research and found that viewers of NCIS and viewers of PoI were extremely similar (cross-indexed I think was the term); thus it makes sense to move a show that has a solid fan base to a night where it will be watched because people are already watching their channel. Pretty sure it will hold up more than fine against ABC's and NBC's offerings.

  10. I agree 100%. I don't think they could have paired PoI with a better fit. I actually think its ratings will increase with the move, giving CBS another powerhouse for when one of their older shows starts dropping. Personally I think it is one of the smartest scheduling moves of any network for the upcoming season. The entire night should win easily.

  11. haha i told you guys CBS series will return on the week of September 23th lol

  12. What's with the one down-vote? Some hater just responding negatively to anything POI-related? Lol.

  13. Down votes don't bother me at all. I figure it's shorthand for "I disagree" and don't take it personally.

  14. So what's going to happen to Unforgettable (it will be around the 7-8 episode mark come September when all the fall shows premiere...)? Will it get moved to Saturday? (hope not, but I think it's likely)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I like this schedule it's great but only for half a season.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I was wondering the same thing. It will have 8 episodes done after September 15th, unless they give it a two-hour season premiere or finale. Even then it won't get to 13 episodes. I suppose they could also air episodes during the week by bumping repeats of other shows (like replacing NCIS LA for an NCIS/Big Brother/Unforgettable line-up on Tuesday, in its original slot), but I doubt they'll do this. You're probably right that it gets a Saturday burn-off, but that's still 13 more episodes than what we had before.

  17. I've had a theory about this for a while now. I want to start by saying that H50 is one of my favorite shows, so I'm not trying to diss it, I'm simply analyzing facts. This last season, it got mostly high 1s and low 2s in the 18-49. That's pretty much what shows on Friday night get also. But, shows on Friday actually get around 10-12 million viewers, which is a few million more than H50 got last season. So therefore, airing on Fridays might not necessarily be the death sentence that some people are thinking it might be because it's unlikely that the 18-49 would change much and, if anything, it would probably increase in viewers.

Another thing is that I consider H50 to be kind of the 4th CSI. I know they don't spend as much time looking at evidence or anything, but it's generally the same show. Last year, I had a theory about the cancellation of CSI: Miami. Miami and H50 are/were practically the same show. Both had plenty of beaches and sun, both were about solving crimes, and both paid more attention to action than analyzing evidence. My theory is that CBS needed a place to put The Mentalist, and they realized these similarities between H50 and Miami. They thought that instead of paying to produce essentially 2 version of the same show, they should cancel the older one and renew the newer one and then replace the older with the newer. And that's what they did. Don't get me wrong, I loved Miami and was upset when they cancelled it. But I understood. The reason this theory relates to the current situation is that I think CBS did a very similar thing with CSI: NY, the one difference being that H50 and NY are obviously different in the scenery aspect. This time, they needed someplace to put Hostages and Intelligence (which I'm very skeptical about because as far as I can tell it's CBS's version of Chuck and that was one of my favorite shows ever), so they decided to repeat the pattern of canceling the older and renewing the newer and then replacing it. When CSI: NY moved to Fridays, I knew it would probably only last as long as it did decently, and, more importantly, as long as CBS didn't have anything better to replace it with. That streak ran out at the end of this last season. H50 has now taken CSI: NY's place and now it will likely run for at least 2-4 more seasons until it ends. It will be harder for CBS to cancel H50 anytime soon because they're moving it to that time slot significantly earlier in its run than they did with NY. I hope this answers your question.

  18. I totally agree with Dahne and Louise. The essential answer to your question is 3 words: lead-in support. The show does have a big enough fan base to easily risk moving it. Not only that, but CBS gave POI 2 of the biggest and highest rated shows on TV as lead ins. POI was the fastest-growing show on network TV this last season, and I think this move was really smart because it really gives POI the best possible chance to grow a lot more. Before premiere week last season (last September), it was my theory that nobody was going to want to mess with CBS on Thursdays because the combination of TBBT, TAAHM, POI and Elementary was going to be a very powerful one. That proved to be correct as it easily won every Thursday night throughout the season. Now, if there was ever going to be a lineup that I could and would theorize will be even more powerful than that one, it's this new Tuesday one. I mean, you have the #1 show on all of TV (NCIS), followed by its spinoff (NCIS: L.A.) that's darn close to being as successful, followed by POI. My advice to the other major networks would be just give up because you've already lost.

  20. Hoping we hear from ABC soon!

  21. Intelligence premieres on my Birthday!!! (Too bad my Birthday is on a Monday though!)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Couldn't they leave POI and Elementary where they were...grrrr!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Four days out of five weekdays I watch shows, with Tuesday night only consisting of my shows. Can't wait for it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am glad How I Met Your Mother's season premiere is a double episode, just like I hoped.

    ReplyDelete
  25. If anything, H50's ratings will get worse on Fridays...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Because CBS are evil dictators and want to kill every other network's chance at any ratings on Tuesday nights.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hawaii Five-0's ratings weren't the best, so I think that's why they moved it to Friday.
