  1. Although I am not pleased about Awkward's current season repeating a large chunk of last season's Jenna plot, I'm more concerned about a new showrunner screwing things up even more when he/she take's over after Iungerich leaves.

OK, thank goodness someone else feels the way I feel about this season. But I think a new showrunner who does their due diligence can bring something fresh to the show. Fingers crossed because Awkward really is a gem of a show.

  3. I'll adopt your reserved optimism until MTV finds their new showrunner then I'll reevaluate.

  4. Yup... shows that are so distinctive in their voice and style have problems adjusting to changes like these.

  5. That's a good point. It's easier to simply plug-in any ol' showrunner on certain programs because they're simple, broad-concept programs. A program like this with a unique point of view and a unique sense of humor has to be much more difficult to switch leadership on. The best example of this would be what happened with Community last season.

  6. *nod* yup Community is a good recent example.

I'll also bring up a classic oldie: Gilmore Girls suffered massively after ASP left, and the storyline was a very similar situation as it currently is on Awkward.

  7. Yeah, I remember that. The Gilmore Girls really limped to the finish line.

  8. Actually it was shot to death looooong before the finish line. Someone had to drag the corpse over.

  9. I agreed. That what's the guy's name who is being played by that former Glee star is really a character I distaste. The preview of the next episodes is the brunt of my frustration with this season. I hope Lauren's swan song is Jenna and Matty together again. If no, I'm going to start a Anti-Awkward Watching of a Possible Season 4. Who knows if MTV is going to renew something without its creator.

  10. I think Awkward is a pretty big hit and MTV will renew it at one season without its creator to see how it goes. Don't think it can be a fair assumption that the shows going to be down the drain without the creator .

  11. It will only work if the other producers can be creative.
