Great for SPN but there must be a mistake with TVD. They had their worst ratings ever in the last 5-6 episodes of season barely, barely staying at 1.0 in the demo... how could they have increased over last season ??
Supernatural increased in the demo because of the day change, meaning there was just less competition in the slot. From the Vulture article the results are all sort of depressing, especially given that I want to be a TV writer. But really it shows what we've known for ages. That people's viewing habits are changing and 24 episodes a year where roughly the same thing happens every week and plot is structured around the sweeps rather than what the individual show demands are just failing to hold people's attention anymore. There are far too many distractions in other media and TV has to be exemplary to keep us watching. So maybe that's not so depressing after all.
There's not less competition on Wednesdays, just people tend to stay in on week days and not on party Fridays and Saturdays. Plus, SPN I'd say benefitted from Arrow and vice versa as they had similar viewers.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI assume it's done on average. It's probably explained in the article.
ReplyDeleteI guessed Scandal but, surprisingly, they were 10th. Grimm's gains are pleasantly surprising.
ReplyDeleteNot surprised at all.
ReplyDeleteOf course it would be SPN, the show moved from a Friday to a Wednesday and constantly got between 0.9-1.0+
ReplyDeleteWell done!
Nice job SPN!
ReplyDeleteBut sad to see Nikita so low!

ReplyDeleteDarkUFO, I love you for the Berman comment haha.
ReplyDeleteSince I love Nikita, I agree. I do think Supernatural moving affected Nikita's ratings.
