  1. I feel that most of the best villains in 24 were Americans.

    1. Nina Myers (Sarah Clarke).

The reveal in episode 1.23 was one of the most jaw-dropping moment of the series... for others, because I started watching 24 when I caught it on TV in '05 and it was season 3. But it didn't stop me from wondering what the hell happened to Nina to go from this supporting person who Jack trusted more than anyone to this twisted woman. Her return in season 2 was better conceived than her return in season 3 (not that it was any less enjoyable), because it was linked to her last words in season 1 ("kill me and you'll never know who I work for ; you think I work for Drazen, I don't"). I wish the series fully delved into this German conglomerate connection : Nina talked to them in episode 1.24, and this mysterious Max character was played by Thomas Kretschmann so we know he was German, too (+ a deleted scene showed Nina on his boat, in ep 2.24). What were the real reasons why they wanted Palmer dead? Too bad the writers felt it didn't have enough potential to be the central story of season 3, Max, Trepkos & others were just swooped away with a few lines in episode 3.01 (Mandy wasn't among them, thankfully). Real time problems.

    2. Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin).

The President is the terrorist (well, it's way more complicated than that, you can sympathize and completely understand how he came to be in this position, but that's the outline) : genius idea. Itzin played his part so well, from this frightened Vice-President becoming the acting POTUS (s4), to the man who did what he thought was best for his country until it all blew up in his face (s5), to the man in search of redemption (they should have expanded his role in s6, it all felt rushed) and finally in season 8 to the man attempting to make a comeback and restore his image (but still linked to shady people). Stronger than he looked, more manipulative you'd think, Logan was awesome.

    3. Ira Gaines (Michael Massee) / Stephen Saunders (Paul Blackthorne).

I can't decide which is the best. They both have their qualities, and similarities : they're very calm men who like deadpan humour (I'll tell ya, Rick, you're either dead or you're not dead. There's no such thing as 'sorta dead'. Here, let me show you. [shoots him in the head] : one of the best quotes ever) and who play 'cat and mouse' with Jack.

But there are so many other great villains : the deadly (and rare) assassin Mandy (Mia Kirshner - if there's a 24 film, make her appear in it), Jack's mentor Christopher Henderson (Peter Weller), Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight), Alexis and Victor Drazen (Zeljko Ivanek & Dennis Hopper - sorry, Alexis/Misha Collins wasn't of the same caliber as his brother and papa, being off screen in the hospital during most of the day :D), Sergei Bazhaev (Juergen Prochnow), etc, and of course Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson Gerald), offering a counterpoint to Jack/Nina with her relationship with David Palmer.

  3. Definitely Nina Myers... Cant believe Mandy isn't on this list and Marie Warner. All the best villains on 24 were Women

  4. There were a lot of really good villains in 24 but Nina Myers is hands down my favorite. I feel like she set the bar so high that no one else could reach it (though others did come close). I still find myself yelling at my TV in disbelief from watching the final two episodes of season 1.

  7. Although not really a villain... the horrible, despicable, "I did it for you" psycho.... SHERRY PALMER!

  8. Saunders, Marwan, Henderson and Bierko.

  9. Charles Logan. No doubt in my mind.

  10. Really tough to decide between Nina the backstabbing wife killer, and Logan the ultimate flip flop character....

  11. Dont remind me, that stuff made me puke and turn of 24 for a season.

I think Logan was the best villian, even when he was weaker he came back as an villian. Liked that.
