FX CONNECTS THE BRIDGE TO VIEWERS JULY 10th
New Drama Series Stars Oscar® Nominee Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger
Will Air Wednesday Nights At 10PM ET/PT
Los Angeles, May 23, 2013 – FX has locked the premiere date for its newest original drama series The Bridge, which will debut on Wednesday, July 10 at 10 PM ET/PT. The Bridge’s 13-episode first season airs Wednesdays at 10 PM ET/PT.
The Bridge is a present-day crime thriller exploring the tensions on the US-Mexico border. When an American judge known for her anti-immigration views is found dead on the bridge connecting El Paso and Juarez, Sonya Cross (Diane Kruger) from El Paso PD must work with her Mexican counterpart from Chihuahua State Police, Marco Ruiz (Demian Bichir), to catch a serial killer operating on both sides of the border. Marco understands the slippery politics of Mexican law enforcement, and while his police force slowly succumbs to the pressures and demands of the cartel, he’s one of the last good men in the department. He’s charming, but also cunning as he will do whatever it takes to get what he needs. This does not sit well with Sonya, who has Asperger’s and strictly follows rules as well as protocol. Her candid and off-putting personality fuels an unforgiving drive for truth. The case quickly pulls them into a string of murders on the border, a scene already consumed by illegal immigration, drug trafficking, violence and prostitution.
Executive Producers Meredith Stiehm and novelist and television writer/producer Elwood Reid adapted The Bridge for American television from the international hit series Bron, which was set on the border of Denmark and Sweden. Bron was produced by Shine Group’s Filmlance and Denmark’s Nimbus Film Production.
The Bridge co-stars are Ted Levine, Annabeth Gish, and Thomas M. Wright, and Matthew Lillard guest stars. Gerardo Naranjo directed the pilot episode. Executive Producers of The Bridge are Shine America’s Carolyn G. Bernstein and Filmlance’s Lars Blomgren. It will be distributed by Shine International.

Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteYep me too. Looks like the best pilot this summer.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait, whilst FX comedies don't do it for me most of their dramas do so this should be good.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep a more open-minded watch for crime shows these upcoming seasons than I've had in the past, so I might check this out depending on trailers and promos + the first episode.
ReplyDeleteInterested tosee how much of the original series details they keep....
ReplyDeleteI loved the character Saga Noren with Asperger's and all her social quirks...
I love most of their comedies. Louie, Archer, and Wilfred are all superb :)
ReplyDeleteWe have to consider that this is not just a cop show. It depicts what is happening in our US-Mexican border. I hope that this show opens the eyes of both countries, especially the US.
ReplyDeleteIf it helps your choice at all,...
ReplyDeleteThe Bridge is not a typical crime procedural and should be heavily serialized. There is also a fairly strong element of social politics in the series as well as the crimes investigated.
Don't care
ReplyDeleteand here I was thinking I could leave FX for the summer guess again, they sucked me right back in
ReplyDeleteWell Sons of Anarchy and Justified are two of my favorite shows.... it would be nice to have something on FX while those two are in hiatus.
