My picks this week are (in the alphabetical order):
1. Show: ELEMENTARY
Episode: “Risk Management”
Date: May 9, 2013
Actors: Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu, Natalie Dormer
The Scene: Sherlock and Joan find Irene alive
This show just keeps getting better and it looks like the 2-hour season finale next week is gonna be an episode (or rather two) not to be missed. I absolutely love the relationship between Holmes and Watson and that’s true in every version of this story. Here we have two friends, who understand and respect one other and are always there for each other when they’re needed. Like in this scene, Joan follows Sherlock to the address he got from Moriarty and makes him realize that she knows what she’s doing and she’s very well aware of the danger of their job, but she’s his partner and her place is right there, with him. At this point, they both enter the building and a moment later, they find none other than Sherlock’s (presumed dead!) former lover, Irene Adler. What’s more, she doesn’t appear to be in danger, she’s just painting like nothing happened. And now, to the main reason why I chose this scene, Holmes’ reaction. It’s really hard to describe all the pain, shock, fear and love he feels when he looks at her, yet Jonny Lee Miller portrayed it with the absolute perfection. Heartbreaking expression on his face, his voice and body language at this exact moment are worth all of the awards.
NOTE: The scene was also picked by Robin Smyth as Scene Of The Week!
“Jonny Lee Miller's reaction to her was amazing. It really brought home the idea that she is the woman.”
2. Show: PERSON OF INTEREST
Episode: “God Mode”
Date: May 9, 2013
Actors: Michael Emerson, Jim Caviezel, Sarah Shahi, Amy Acker, Jay. O. Sanders, Boris McGiver
The Scene: Confrontation in the "nuclear facility"
Just like last week, there were so many amazing scenes in the episode, but my favorite is the one taking place in the facility, where the Machine was supposed to be kept. After Reese and Shaw arrive there just in time to save Finch from Root, they learn the truth about the virus. It turns out that after Ingram’s death, Harold realized the Machine may be in hands of the wrong people, so he made sure that, when one day someone will decide to act in order to take control of the Machine, they’ll do it using his own code. Finch hid the virus inside the virus, sending the Machine signal to start operating on its own, he set it free. At this point some people from the Government also arrive to the facility and things get even more interesting. What I liked the most about this scene is the part when Special Counsel talks to Finch and makes him a proposition to help them locate the Machine or rebuild it on his own terms, but Harold looks him in the eyes and says: “You gave my friend your word. And you killed him.” And then tells the others they’re leaving and no one even tries to stop them. I just really enjoyed seeing him mention Nathan there and coldly refuse the offer. Team Machine definitely came out strong here and won this confrontation, so this scene made me feel really proud of them. Such an powerful moment in a truly remarkable episode.
3. Show: THE MENTALIST
Episode: “Red John’s Rules”
Date: May 5, 2013
Actors: Simon Baker, Robin Tunney, Emmanuelle Chriqui
The Scene: The last scene – “Seven Suspects”
After 5 years of no real progress in the Red John’s case, we finally get to learn his name. Sort of. It’s one of the seven suspects, whose names (with photos) Patrick shares with Teresa in the last scene. As if this part wasn’t enough of the game changer, through the video message from Red John (read by the deceased Lorelei Martins, his former accomplice), we also learn that the serial killer knows all the names from Patrick’s list and because Jane changed “the game”, he decided to change the rules, meaning, he’s going to kill more people, often, until either Patrick catches him or the other way around. Chills! The scene was very powerful, scary, revealing and definitely a great example of how to end the season and make everyone really excited to come back this fall to see what’s gonna happen next, not just in the premiere, but the entire season 6.

NOTE: The scene was also picked by Diana Mack as Scene Of The Week!
Honorable mention:
Once Upon A Time, “Second Star to the Right” – Neal and Emma are separated by the magical portal
And here’s more of SpoilerTV Team members’ favorite scenes:
1. FROM SHARON SEYMOUR
Hannibal, “Sorbet”, May 9, 2013, Actor: Mads Mikkelsen
The Scene: The one where Hannibal is going through his "contact" list and then looking up a recipe and making a "dish".
Bates Motel, “A Boy and His Dog”, May 6, 2013, Actors: Freddie Highmore, Olivia Cooke
The Scene: Emma and Norman talk and make up. Such a sweet scene.
Person Of Interest, “God Mode”, May 9, 2013, Actors: Michael Emerson, Amy Acker
The Scene: Root and Finch arrive at the "facility" only to find that machine has removed itself!
2. FROM DARKUFO
Person Of Interest, “God Mode”, May 9, 2013, Actor: Jim Caviezel
The Scene: Reese shots the man threatening the happy couple and then congratulates them.
Bates Motel, “A Boy and His Dog”, May 6, 2013, Actors: Vera Farmiga, Nestor Carbonell
The Scene: The Sheriff puts down Norma after she attempts to blackmail him.
Hannibal, “Sorbet”, May 9, 2013, Actors: Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen
The Scene: Will notices something about Hannibal whilst Hannibal is saving the man’s life in the ambulance. You get the impression that he is starting to see Hannibal as he really is.
3. FROM JAMIE COUDEVILLE
Revenge, “Engagement”, May 5, 2013
The Scene: The power goes out
This is the end of the episode but it also kind of leads in the finale. I can't wait.
The Vampire Diaries, “The Walking Dead”, May 9, 2013, Actors: Matt Davis, Ian Somerhalder
The Scene: Alaric returns
I hadn't realized how much I'd missed him until this moment. I'm so glad Damon has his best friend back, even if it's just for an episode.
NOTE: The scene was also picked by Diana Mack as Scene Of The Week!
Nikita, “Invisible Hand”, May 10, 2013, Actors: Maggie Q, Shane West
The Scene: Nikita tells Michael they should get married
The music fit this moment perfectly, my heart just breaks for Nikita. I'm still trying to think of a way that they can get out of this, but I can't think of anything. I can't wait to see how this ends.
4. FROM JIMMY RYAN
Person Of Interest, “God Mode”, May 9, 2013, Actors: Michael Emerson, Brett Cullen
The Scene: My favorite scene is actually a flashback - the scene where Finch walks in on Ingram in the library where the two of them have a falling out of sorts, with Finch begging Ingram not to go to the press - a decision which ultimately got him killed. This was just one of many awesome scenes in the finale, and I will be back next season without a shadow of doubt.
Scandal, “Any Questions?”, May 9, 2013, Actors: Jeff Perry, Tony Goldwyn
The Scene: In an episode which obliterated its previous ratings and audience, I'm once again picking a scene in which Cyrus stars. He is in the Oval Office with Fitz who asks him to read his speech which was intended to announce Fitz's intention of not running for a second term. Cyrus and Fitz briefly reminisce about Fitz's presidency too. I firmly believe that Jeff Perry (who plays Cyrus) is the best of any actor or actress on television at the moment. He is simply incredible to watch, and plays a complex character who is far from ordinary, absolutely flawlessly. In his time on Scandal he has never put in anything short of an excellent performance.
Criminal Minds, “Nanny Dearest”, May 8, 2013, Actors: A.J. Cook, Josh Stewart
The Scene: It's rare that Criminal Minds gets a mention in the Scene Of The Week post, but this week is an exception. My heart warmed when we saw JJ - who had almost been killed on the job - arrives home to embrace her husband Will. It is a pretty simple, low key scene in the big scheme of things, but it was flawless and full of passion, and complemented a similar scene at the beginning of the episode really well. As a result it rounds out my three scenes of the week.
5. FROM KLUZTY GIRL
The Office, “A.A.R.M.”, May 9, 2013, Actors: Rainn Wilson, Angela Kinsey
The Scene: The scene where Dwight proposes to Angela. The entire scene, especially after he finds out the baby is his, is just perfect.
Once Upon A Time, “Second Star to the Right”, May 5, 2013, Actors: Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas
The Scene: After Emma returns home in shock, Charming comforts her.
NCIS, “Double Blind”, May 7, 2013, Actors: Michael Weatherly, Colin Hanks
The Scene: Tony defends Ziva to Parsons and refers to her as his best friend.
6. FROM DIANA MACK
Hannibal, “Sorbet”, May 9, 2013, Actor: Mads Mikkelsen
The Scene: I'd say the whole episode, but I'd just concentrate at the end with Hannibal helping the man in the ambulance, and then when he served the dinner at his house and said: "This meal is not for vegetarians". Shivers.
7. FROM DARTH LOCKE
Orphan Black, “Parts Developed in an Unusual Manner”, May 11, 2013, Actors: Tatiana Maslany, David Richmond-Peck
The Scene: Helena cuts off Olivier Duval's tail!
Game Of Thrones, “The Climb”, May 5, 2013, Actors: Kit Harington, Rose Leslie
The Scene: 'The Climb is all there is' - Ygritte & Jon Snow reach the top of the wall.
NOTE: The scene was also picked by Pascal Buijnsters as Scene Of The Week!
“Such a rare moment of peace in an otherwise dark show.”
Bates Motel, “A Boy and His Dog”, May 6, 2013, Actor: Vera Farmiga
The Scene: Norma changes for dinner only to find the autotopsied remains of Zack Shelby in her bed!
8. FROM PASCAL BUIJNSTERS
Person Of Interest, “God Mode”, May 9, 2013, Actors: Michael Emerson, Carrie Preston
The Scene: From so many great scenes in the finale, this flashback stood out: After the bombing which killed Ingram and injured Harold, Grace comes looking for him and Harold hides and quickly walks away. Heartbreaking moment.
Arrow, “Darkness on the Edge of Town”, May 8, 2013, Actors: Stephen Amell, John Barrowman
The Scene: The Hood and the Dark Archer fight. When Merlyn has Oliver knocked out he discovers who the Hood really is, only exclaiming ''Oh no.''.
9. FROM BRADLEY ADAMS
Arrow, “Darkness on the Edge of Town”, May 8, 2013, Actors: Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy
The Scene: Oliver and Laurel have sex. The music buildup and the way it was acted was brilliant.
Nikita, “Invisible Hand”, May 10, 2013, Actors: Maggie Q, Melinda Clarke
The Scene: Nikita is told by Amanda that Michael's hand had the nanotoxin. Loved Maggie Q's reaction.
NCIS, “Double Blind”, May 7, 2013, Actors: Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, Colin Hanks
The Scene: Tony, McGee and Parsons on the stakeout. So funny.

Scandal: Cyrus & Fitz .... Jeff Perry is blowing me away every single week TBH.
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot to get my favorite scenes in this week.
ReplyDelete"This meal is not for vegetarians"
ReplyDeleteElementary, JLM's acting was phenomenal !
ReplyDeleteNikita without a hesitation! The most unforgettable scenes of the season
ReplyDeleteNikita last 15 minutes were breathtaking and sooo emotional!!
ReplyDeleteDigital Daggers' The Devil Within. The lyrics of the entire song just completely described Nikita.
ReplyDeleteNikita - telling Michael, "Let's get married"
ReplyDeleteNikita - confirming the nanotoxins.
Yeah, I've become addicted to this song since seeing the episode. :) The lyrics like "I'm the poison in your bones", "I can hurt you from within", "You won't even see me come" fit both Amanda and the toxin in Michael's blood/tracker under Nikita's skin so well.
ReplyDeleteMaggie Q was phenomenal indeed! If I wasn't so completely heartbroken after this last episode, I'd probably add one of these scene as one of my favorites too.
ReplyDeleteScandal: Cyrus and Fitz but I also voted other for another Scandal scene that wasn't mentioned. Fitz and Olivia. When Olivia finally told Fitz her feelings on Defiance and told him that she realized how much she ruined him and convinced him to run again. The acting in this scene was amazing.
ReplyDeleteTVD and Revenge
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are a toss up on Scandal Cyrus rant outside Olivia door about Jesus Saves but he destroys before going inside and telling Fitz and Liv to "GET UP"! and then with Olitz getting dressed and Fitz and contrast Cyrus expression in the elevator. Just Priceless. I also loved the scene between Harrison and Liv What is your end game and The scene between Olivia and Fitz before the went to the podium to give his press conference.
ReplyDeleteNot the mention loved the closing scene in Red Widow when the daughter pulled the Gun on Nikolai sorry to see that show cancelled. I was looking forward to next season
On Nashville: Loved the scenes between Deacon and Rayna especially when he got in the SUV with her
NIKITA!!!!
ReplyDeleteBEST SHOW EVER
both of them scenes were heartbreaking
maybe im the only one but i loved simon hellberg in the big bang theory, he was so so good, when he did nicolas cage i was on the floor laughing
ReplyDeleteNo, you're not the only one. All the scenes with him doing impressions were fantastic! TVLine picked him as their Performer of the Week because of those spot-on impressions. I'm kinda hoping that he does them again. And soon.
ReplyDeleteThat final scene of The Mentalist nearly gave me chills. I'm a bit scared for Patrick now.
ReplyDeleteThe entire episode of The Office was fabulous. The Dwangela proposal scene was definitely great. I also loved the Jim/Dwight dynamic throughout the episode, specifically when Jim was telling Dwight about how love is the only thing that matters when making a decision and how you need to find the one person that's worth it. Which of course lead to the awesome Dwangela scene :D
A lot of great scene this week. I choose the nbc hannibal scene: "Will notices something about Hannibal whilst Hannibal is saving the man’s life in the ambulance."
ReplyDeleteI loved the ambiguity. I can't decide if Will "saw" the savior or the killer.
I guess we'll know next week. If Will withdraw from his relation with Hannibal, then the alarm bell rang in his beautiful twisted mind :-)
ps: haven't see last POI episode yet
that one was hilarious...and creepy :-)
ReplyDeleteScandal Jake and Liv on the phone.
ReplyDeleteBeauty and The Beast... when Vincent took the second pill... he had watery eyes and he was not the only one!!! That guy is a good actor. I totally believed him! :-)
ReplyDeleteJeff Perry = best actor on all of TV. End of story
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones, Littlefinger words to Lord Varis: "Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is. But they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late." Great lines and characters and awesome performances by Aidan Gillen and Conleth Hill.
ReplyDeleteVampire diaries when stefan was sad about not seeing Lexi then bam she returns for the most perfect and underrated scene of the night
ReplyDeleteDalaric makes me cry... Damon deserves to get his best buddy back :(
ReplyDeleteCas trying to buy pie for Dean,
ReplyDeleteOliver and Felicity on the elevator shaft,
Alaric showing up to Damon.
Yep, because I ship them and it was GREAT!!!
GoT: Peter Baelish monologue.
ReplyDeleteSo many, great week.
ReplyDeleteElementary- Definitely Sherlock and Watson finding Irene alive. Sherlock's emotional reaction, him staggering and Watson being concerned. The music was well placed too.
Nikita - The scene at the end with Nikita telling Michael they should get married and her looking at his blood under the microscope. The music and acting was perfect.
Person of Interest: So many. I really loved the flashbacks, the scene when Root discovers the machine has been moved and the group leaving, and Reese congratulating the married couple.
The Vampire Diaries - The friendship scenes - Damon & Alaric and Stefan & Lexi. Also Jeremy and Elena being reunited.
The Mentalist - The 7 suspects ending scene
Once Upon A Time -Charming comforting Emma. Finally a father/daughter scene. Though short, it was sad and sweet.
Arrow- The fight scene, Dark Archer finding out it's Oliver who is the Green Arrow.
This week is hard to pick. Hannibal had Gillian Anderson! Orphan Black is intriguing and Person of Interest... Wow. Grace looking for Harold was heartbreakingly fantastic.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, I've missed an ep in there but I found the Mentalist a little anti-climactic, I mean, we know all his research was poached and if they want to keep it going, anyone could have poached from the poacher, right? Like I said, maybe I missed something...
I haven't watched 'Once Upon a Time' finale yet; I'll have to get to it soon.
I seem to be over 'Elementary'; I don't care that Irene's alive. Or maybe it's just that I like 'Sherlock' s Irene so much. I know I shouldn't compare....
I enjoyed NCIS this week. In fact, this season is, by far, the best we've had in 3. However, the scene that hit me most was in the warehouse with Tony and Ziva. His choice not to just walk away this time and her realization that her actions have actually hurt him; it was a lovely.
Hmm... Okay I'm voting Person of Interest. But many others were great too.
Alex
THE MENTALIST - SEVEN SUSPECTS!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNikita: Nikita tells Michael they should get married!!!
ReplyDeleteGo Mentalistas!!
ReplyDeleteNikita, of course: That whole Amanda/Nikita scene. I love to hate Amanda, and I must say she owned Nikita there.
ReplyDeleteThen Elementary: Sherlock finding Irene alive was just wow.
And Hannibal: Will seeing something in Hannibal in that ambulance. Totally gave me chills.
I have not enjoyed The Vampire Diaries this much all season..ALARIC was there..I need more Damon and Alaric.
ReplyDeleteMy first choice is OTHER: Supernatural with Castiel shopping for Pie. So funny and sweet trying to get things Dean would like.
NCIS - Tony confronting Ziva in the crime scene
ReplyDeletebeauty and the beast when Vincent took the second pill. that scene was just perfect and Jay Ryan totally nailed it!
ReplyDeleteJaime and Brienne, GoT. It was a great episode and lots of great scenes.
ReplyDeleteI also loved Hannibal this week, I like the development between Will and Hannibal.
You know, you can always share them here;)
ReplyDeleteScandal: Cyrus being unbelievably cruel to his husband and reducing him to tears.. Brilliantly done by Jeff perry he knocks it out of the park every week.
ReplyDeletebeauty and the beast ...when Vincent got the second pill...i was crying
ReplyDelete
