Good episode. Laceylstiltskin are a mess. I like it. Gotta feel for Emma and Neal in this episode. Their last scene was very sad. A big contrast with the first time he went to another land too. Tamara makes Regina look basic. She is so evil.
Tamara and Owen need to be buried right beside his father, mostly because they tortured the Queen. But this was the first episode where I actually felt sorry for another character besides Regina and that would be Emma. It was sad but there is hope possibly. However I wonder if Regina is possibly the one to die next week if she is trying to contain the magic bomb or was Neal the death that many were talking about? Or was it simply Owen's dad that is taking the place for this rumored death? Overall great episode.
They've really crossed the line this time, but the sad part is that apart from the shock of seeing Regina physically tortured (again, in extended scenes) and Gold keeping Regina's tears (his creepiness knows no boundaries, does it?), I was pretty much bored. The Peter Pan/Bae stuff was not particularly intriguing, the Neal/Emma scenes felt forced, and Tamara/Greg(Owen) is officially the worst plot idea they could have come up with.
I get it that they're trying to compete for the viewers of both "Game of Thrones" and "Fringe" ("this is not the first time magic has crossed over in this world" - oh, what a twist >.>), but they're trying too hard.
The only good scenes were the ones where Regina actually had some lines. Oh, that and Charming coming to save her again and later telling her that they wouldn't have let her die and that they're family. Who cares that this is totally inconsistent with David/Snow's entire development this season, at least that scene didn't suck! So yeah, not re-watching that again any time soon...
Holy crap, that was kinda awesome! A huge improvement over the last few eps. Poor Neal! However I loved the parallel between Emma/Neal and Rumple/Bae with the vortex thing. I'm guessing he went to Neverland and is most defintely not dead though. Also Lacey is a terrible influence on Rumple tho, tho I can't seem to separate my feelings for Rumbelle and Rum/Lacey.
Very good ep. Loved the interpretation on the story of Peter Pan, that Peter Pan's shadow actually had some dark intent... The only thing that will really solidify things for me is getting alot more backstory (Owen/Tamara gave us some) on who/what the "home office" is, and just how did they know exactly what the trigger gem is/does and how they know about the previous incursions of magic - perhaps they were behind the Salem witch trials nd other events like that....
I've felt most of this season has been lacking save for a few eps here and there. But I was so excited for this episode because of Bae and Neverland, and it didn't disappoint! Best episode of the season. Can't wait for next week!
I agree! Peter Pan is one of my favourite fairy tales and I really hope we explore more Neverland next season. Part of me hopes we meet Ariel in Neverland, cause of all the mermaids.
I don't really like Tamara and Owen as villains, but they do serve their purpose. I hope that the guys from "home office" are more interesting as character to be honest. T&O are just plot devices without much personality, and at least one of the two HAS to bite it.
I find Tamara slightly more interesting because they can keep her around as a "henchman" of whatever bad guy is her boss, and her fanatic overtones are more appealing to me than Owen's "where's ma dadeehhh" shtick, that has already been resolved.
I mean, they could do without both, but It would be nicer if they kept one around at least the beginning of next season as a "bridge" to introduce the next big bad. I want a cool power-suit lady personally, I'm thinking something akin Peta WIlson or Lucy Lawless.
Not necessarily. They're about 10 during WWII, right? So that means they would be in their 80s. Powerful elderly characters are the best, especially considering that there are so many great, older English actors who could play them!
Good point, actually. Hopefully this will be a wakeup call which will lead him into realizing he's gotta get Belle's memories back and turn "good" again.
Well I feel cheated out of Neverland, but I suppose they may show that at a later date. Absolutely loved Bae with the Darlings, though, and I can't wait to see more of his journey with Hook. I'm also glad that the whole Tamara deception thing is over. At least people know that she's a baddie now.
I'm slightly annoyed that they had David use his favor already. I know that it was grand and lovely that he used it to help Regina and everything, but I thought it would have been a favor of a much larger scale. Something epic.
Eh....Regina killed Owen's father for trying to get out of Storybrooke. As annoying as Owen is, I'd say she had it coming. And the fact that Regina was willing to use that black rock of mass destruction, made me pity her even less. I doubt Neal is dead. He's probably in some other realm. I think I felt the saddest for Neal in this episode, since this now marks the 3rd time he's been separated from a loved one this way. First with his father, then Wendy, and now Emma. And all three times, he did it in an attempt to save someone else. Otherwise, I thought it was a terrific episode.
Yes, Charming's "we're family" line was totally OOC! Didn't he just last week suggest to keep Regina lifelong in Rumple's cell, when they are going to FTL? O.K., not physical death, but IMO something even far worse....
SO VERY UPSET THAT NEAL IS GONE!!! I personally really loved his character. Bae/Neal......he really brought alot of understanding of the dangers of magic. If they do not bring him back to Emma who when they finally admitted their love for one another............I will turn the channel. I wonder what Gold is gonna do when he finds out about his son................OH MY MY he is going to go BERSERK. Especially now since he can use his magic all he likes because it turns his lady on. Very heartbreaking episode.....if this does not change Regina's mind about Snow nothing will.....end of story.... basically because of Regina killing Owens dad.....she brought danger to Storybook..and now Henry's daddy is gone because of her..................WOW Henry may not forgive Regina this time out!
This episode made up for a lot of this season's previous failures in my eyes. The character drama finally made sense, and we got some real game-changers. I'm very intrigued by the new threat of the "home office" (which I strongly suspect was started by a grown-up Wendy Darling), and the possibilities opened up by Neal traveling to a new world. Everyone's assuming that Neverland will be the final destination of the Storybrooke characters this season, but there are other options...
Well, let's see... In "Broken" David was fine with letting Regina be killed by the wraith ("We let her die and then we're safe"), MM didn't seem to take sides, only Emma&Henry wanted to save Regina (first from the mob and then from the wraith). A few scenes later, after Emma&MM fell through the portal, David tried to personally strangle Regina, then she went into "when I feel threatened, bad things happen" mode and nearly crushed him before Henry showed up..
In "We Are Both" David told Regina that the only reason she's not dead is "because Henry wishes it so"; later on, he threatened her with his sword against her neck.
In "The Cricket Game" flashback, he tried to convince Snow that they needed to execute Regina. In the same ep, in Storybrooke, he also suggested that the dwarves needed to construct a cell to hold her.
In "Welcome To Storybrooke" Gold suggested that the only way to end a blood feud is by spilling more blood, to which Charming replied "By what, killing her?"; Emma wondered "Is there no other option?", finally Henry jumped in and ended that discussion. Fast forward to the scene in the woods where the Charmings told Regina that she'd have to go through them to see her son, which resulted in Regina conjuring fire and Charming pointing a gun at her.
So yeah, I'd say that this season Charming is just as inconsistent as Henry when it comes to his attitude toward Regina (Snow & Emma also change their mind quite often).
I def think of "Nikki and Paulo" + "Miles & Naomi" when I see them on screen (Plus Owen reminds me of Erik Kripke gone wrong - there was a Revolution reference in "Selfless, Brave, and True") and the writers also had Belle watch Expose` @ the time Owen came to. I find the idea of them hysterical (because they're so riduclious) and it's inevitable, as you say, that they're a plot device to get to something bigger, as their futuristic tech spells out some kind of futuristic reality...
Amazing episode! (except a few things) good : - the flashback were awesome I'm so excited to learn more about Bae/Hook/EvilShadow..... (is Peter Pan a bad guy or it's just his shadow?????) -The Charmings to the rescue parts;) And more good Snow/Regina scenes like last ep! (now I really need some good Emma/Regina scenes because that was seriously lacking this season and I hope the final will fix that...) - David comforting Emma was cute :D He wasn't my favorite in season two but I love his moments with his daugther - Regina still being BAMF and sassy even during and after the torture
Bad : - While the last Neal/Emma scene was well done I didn't like what they were saying... : "if we both leave Henry will have no parents....." what about his other mom....? "I love you/I love you too...." I really don't ship them so I was really upset by that but I guess it put more drama into the scene.... - I don't ship Neal/Emma but I love Neal so I didn't want him gone... - The Charmings (especially David) need to make up their minds about Regina....she's family, she's not, we save her, we left her..... - Whoever you ship Emma with this episode must be upsetting :p E/N : Neal's gone and is maybe dying. Emma/Hook and Emma/Regina : Emma loves Neal.....pfffffff :'(
I really liked the concept with the shadow and I wonder if it relates to an origin of 'the dark one', since technically the issue is sort of the same idea except the bad entity being on the inside verses being on the outside, but I def like thinking about the relationship between those things and the idea presented at the beginning of the season with wraiths being 'soul suckers'...
Just to note that OUAT is making a little spin off series taking place in Wonderland that (if it gets picked up) will air during the winter hiatus...The last thing I read from TVLINE is that it will have flashes in time, but one main time period will be of Wonderland paralleled with TLWOM during the Victorian Era (as Alice in the novels are from that period as well), showing Wonderland before the time of Cora, but may also include her time as well.
I liked the flashbacks a lot. Present day was fine but I still feel that they need more overall focus. The storyline of two muggles trying to stop magic isn't strong enough for me IMO. Also, the whole Emma and Neal thing with them screaming I love yous sounded too forced to me. Not a bad one by any means (and one thing must be said about OUAT: regardless of how weaker it has became, it is still one of the most original hours of TV you could possibly imagine), but not one of the best either. Ok.
I hate how she does something really evil and the characters act all shocked, but they are working with her or letting her go about on her own merry way the next episode. She is a very interesting character, played by a very talented actress. But I feel that this forgive and forget thing cheapens the show and the characters themselves.
I thought it was a little predictable that Neal found out about Tamara and had to be sent away. On the plus side, I would like to see how Gold reacts to this news. Was Owen the little boy that ruined things for him? Or will Henry still have a role to play in that? Overall, it was a good episode.
I would like to meet Peter Pan. The Shadow is supposed to be mischievous, Peter is supposed to be good. But with all of those kids crying - I wonder if Peter doesn't exist yet or if something has happened to him....
I really don't like Lacey (the character); she seems very manipulative and psychotic. I think it is going to be a train wreck when she tries either manipulate or betray Gold. But it will be interesting to watch the train wreck happen. I really do like Belle and the actress Emilie de Ravin.
That fight scene was the best fight scene I've seen on TV in ages! No weapons, just hand to hand combat with Emma smacking down Tamara. Absolutely loved it and she's so tough! Also, the fact Emma showed emotion for the first time was really touching too. Can't wait for the finally!
That is one of the things I love about the show. The only way that Regina will change is if they keep forgiving her and giving her the chance the change. But when she has done something toward changing, she is not rewarded.
I would still like the characters to give her a chance and try to forgive her, but I would like the acknowledgement that it might be a bad idea or to continue a very heavy reaction through another 2 or 3 episodes. I think that Joss Whedon does a good job at writing stuff like this. For instance, in Buffy, Willow cheated on Oz with Xander. This flirtation is shown through a good 3 maybe four episodes before Oz and Xander's girlfriend Cordie find out about it. Then, there is tension between Oz and Willow for like two episodes before they decide to stay together. In the next season (or season after that?), Oz cheats on Willow and her past error is brought up again that fight. Cordie and Xander break up in the next episode, but the emotions and tension and references between the two stay and up until Cordie leaves the show.
There seems to been a resistance to forgive her with most of the characters, though. For instance, when Regina was invited to the gathering at Granny's, most of the characters did not really want her there so there is a hesitancy.
I just feel that they are very wish-washy about it. For instance, the Charmings had planned to leave Regina in our world and return to the Enchanted Forest, but uh-oh -- she's in trouble so she's family so they have to save her. Even though she stole magic beans, tried to kill everyone and ruined their chance to get home. (It has been awhile since I watched this, so I might have their knowledge a little out of whack.)
Yes, but Regina was also willing to sacrifice her life to save everyone when the town was being taken over by the forest. One reason I like the character of Regina is the struggle between the evil and good in her, rooting for the good.
I have theory: Peter is locked up in Captain Hooks Boat. In the story of Peter Pan, he talks about how his shadow is naughty and doing mischief when he leaves Peter Pan. Peter Pan says that he is always having to look for Shadow. ANd his Shadow puts up a fight to go back to Peter. Wendy sews the shadow to Peter's shoes so that he can't escape. It would explain why the shadow is being bad. I am thinking Peter is locked up. Maybe Bae finds Peter and sets him free? I could be wrong, but my son reminded me of how Peter Pan's shadow is mischievous and runs off all the time from Peter.
I kind of think that the Shadow is naughty. That he is running around, because Hook has Peter locked up. Remember in the story how Peter said his shadow is always being naughty and doing bad things.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I want Tamara and Owen gone now. They are annoying.
ReplyDeleteBest episode in WEEKS. So well-balanced.
ReplyDeleteNoooooooooooooooooooo, Neal. And poor Regina. But Snow - You don't owe Regina shit, tbh. Stop thinking you do.
ReplyDeleteI loved the moment between Charming and Emma. So cute! She was obviously in shock. But I don't think Neal's dead.
Owen's a little crazy. He and Tamara need to be taken down.
Good episode. Laceylstiltskin are a mess. I like it. Gotta feel for Emma and Neal in this episode. Their last scene was very sad. A big contrast with the first time he went to another land too. Tamara makes Regina look basic. She is so evil.

Agreed! I was getting season 1 vibes throughout the whole episode. It was awesome!

I'm guessing he went to Neverland and is most defintely not dead though. Also Lacey is a terrible influence on Rumple tho, tho I can't seem to separate my feelings for Rumbelle and Rum/Lacey.
ReplyDeleteThey won't kill Regina, best actress+best character. Neal either, probably appeared in Neverland/EF. The death will be Owen/Greg or Tamara hands down.
ReplyDeleteAlso, this may be just me, but I was getting creepy vides from The Shadow.
ReplyDeleteVery good ep. Loved the interpretation on the story of Peter Pan, that Peter Pan's shadow actually had some dark intent... ReplyDelete"Home office" is soooooo Wendy and her brothers.
ReplyDeleteThey would be long dead though, I can see them being people who have been done wrong by magic- have lost someone or whatever.
ReplyDeleteI've felt most of this season has been lacking save for a few eps here and there. But I was so excited for this episode because of Bae and Neverland, and it didn't disappoint! Best episode of the season. Can't wait for next week!
ReplyDeletedid not care for it - show used to be character driven - now it seems like it is becoming more gimmicky -
ReplyDeleteI agree! Peter Pan is one of my favourite fairy tales and I really hope we explore more Neverland next season. Part of me hopes we meet Ariel in Neverland, cause of all the mermaids.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else think the shadow was tinkerbell searching for her future peter pan aka nealfire.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to sing 'ding dong the witch is dead' to Tamara.
ReplyDeletei wonder how Rumpelstiltskin will react to finding out neal is gone again
ReplyDeletenice theory, perhaps they are the families/descendants of the "lost boys" that the shadow took and wouldn't let leave Neverland
ReplyDeleteShe's pretty much considered the walking dead right now.
ReplyDeleteI see what you did there.
ReplyDeleteworst characters EVER.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like Tamara and Owen as villains, but they do serve their purpose. I hope that the guys from "home office" are more interesting as character to be honest. T&O are just plot devices without much personality, and at least one of the two HAS to bite it.

I think there's a good chance she will be there. The show runners said we will probably see her next season :)
ReplyDeletelol A+

ReplyDeleteIs Peter Pan set in the WWII times? From the clothing/interior it didn't look like that...more like around 1900.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly not WW2. The sequel to Peter Pan (when Wendy was grown up) was during WW1. But the Peter Pan story was during the late Victorian age.
ReplyDeleteSO VERY UPSET THAT NEAL IS GONE!!! I personally really loved his character. Bae/Neal......he really brought alot of understanding of the dangers of magic. It's not them, it's what they represent. This entire "home office" plot is what is truly annoying.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree.

Maybe they all went to the Neverland anyway? That would explain them being still alive.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Good points! :)
ReplyDeleteI really liked the concept with the shadow and I wonder if it relates to an origin of 'the dark one', since technically the issue is sort of the same idea except the bad entity being on the inside verses being on the outside, but I def like thinking about the relationship between those things and the idea presented at the beginning of the season with wraiths being 'soul suckers'...

I'm hoping for Oz myself. That would be interesting. Though I wouldn't object to Neverland either.
ReplyDeletewith all those seeds planted I can only imagine there is room for a lot more doors opening...

ReplyDeleteWhere did you hear that? That is awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo right about the favor....
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is a world where Henry won't forgive Regina.
ReplyDeleteThat fight scene was the best fight scene I've seen on TV in ages! No weapons, just hand to hand combat with Emma smacking down Tamara. Absolutely loved it and she's so tough! Also, the fact Emma showed emotion for the first time was really touching too. Can't wait for the finally!

It would explain why the shadow is being bad. I am thinking Peter is locked up. Maybe Bae finds Peter and sets him free? I could be wrong, but my son reminded me of how Peter Pan's shadow is mischievous and runs off all the time from Peter.
ReplyDeleteI kind of think that the Shadow is naughty. That he is running around, because Hook has Peter locked up. Remember in the story how Peter said his shadow is always being naughty and doing bad things.
ReplyDeleteI laughed too. Really, a family? That was just a lame line.
ReplyDeleteThe writers are attempting to repeat LOST storylines. I hope they go back on track.
