It’s pilot screening week, with the networks’ executives huddled in rooms watching the fruits of their development teams’ labor. The networks are still going through the process, with testing results just starting to pour in, but here is the latest pilot buzz I’ve compiled from various sources around town.

so, are hatfield & mccoys, the list and delirium not happening then? I was really looking forward to them... :(
ReplyDeleteIs it me or were these reports more interesting last year? They pretty much all sound the same and we're just a week and a half away from the beginning of the upfronts.
ReplyDeleteI wish Delirium was mentioned but FOX is probably not the right network for it. It should go to the CW or ABC Family imo.
Reign is going to flop for the CW, I hope they don't pick it up.
its always possible they havent test screened yet but them not being on the list is not good
ReplyDeleteNext week we should be getting early pickups!
ReplyDeleteNBC usually has its pilot orders fully done by the friday week before upfronts (May 10)
Yes they tend to order series before the upfronts
ReplyDeleteHopefully Reign hasnt screened yet and drops when it does like the sixth gun just sunk on NBC after screening dropping from #1 nbc pilot in previous deadline updates
ReplyDeleteI didnt like the script for the 100 personally and dont think it is on brand with the CW either
For me Company Town and The 100 were the weakest 2 scripts, and Reign didnt feel like it fit CW
Looking forward to Tomorrow People, and hoping that Big Thunder and I Am Victor gets picked up!
ReplyDeleteI hope Westside gets picked up.
ReplyDeleteGood. Most of the stuff I want to see is still in contention. Shows I'm pulling for:
ReplyDeleteCBS
Intelligence
NBC
Blacklist
Believe
The Sixth Gun
(I was also interested in Bloodlines until they cast Chris Zylka in the pilot.)
ABC
SHIELD
Gothica
(I wouldn't mind taking a look at the pilots for Doubt and Influence either.)
FOX
The List
Human
(Out of curiosity, I'd like to see the Sleepy Hollow pilot as well.)
The CW
The Originals [already picked up]
The Tomorrow People
The 100
Blink (apparently doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell)
What happened to NBC's pilot Dracula? Is that still happening this fall? It sounded really good, up there in theme with Gothica.
ReplyDeleteDracula has a 10 episode order. They've started filming in Budapest but I don't think NBC has decided when they will air it. Somehow, I don't think it'll be on the fall schedule.
ReplyDeleteI think it already has a series order.
ReplyDeleteThis year's pilot season has been soooooo weird...
ReplyDeleteRe Blink: I think with HoD on the schedule they still need a show like that, so I still think it might be a "maybe"....
ReplyDeleteWhere can you read the script for The 100?
ReplyDeleteThe Returned sounds fantastic, like Babylon Fields from a few years back (and was an EFFING AWESOME pilot) and I'd like to see Gothica as well.
ReplyDeleteOn FOX, Sleepy Hollow please!
It's like Hannibal this year and the pirates show, got picked up for a short season in one of NBC's deals before a pilot was made.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine the returned actually catching one. That is not to say that I personally wouldn't give it a try but I can't see it working on broadcast tv
ReplyDeleteI think Crossbones (the pilot show) was originally intended for summer but somehow got moved to normal schedule, could be mistaken though
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a very good fit with Grimm on Fridays.
ReplyDeleteI think Hart of Dixie would do just fine after the selection IMO
ReplyDeleteI'll still be there for the premiere. Some of the best shows are one season wonders for broadcast. Time is better spent watching a great show that will be canceled in two weeks than a mediocre and uninspired show that will be canceled in 10 years. :) Plus if it's midseason and they know how many episodes they have they could make the finale not be a huge cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am not that much into that but I can see the logic behind it. For me it is quite the opposite, I can't get invested in a show that I know won't be around long enough for me to start get attached to the characters and the overall storyline. It is very rare for me to love a first season show right away, I typically start enjoying them more as they move towards the end of the season as I grow more used to it. That is just how I prefer my tv experience, but to each his own, for sure ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm nervous for Delirium.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so... It might have with last year's version, but the route they're going with the re-tooling doesn't sound like it.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, objectively speaking HoD needs a more of a Gilmore Girls/Everwood/Veronica Mars type companion.
From all the pilots the CW had lined up the Sera Gamble one and Blink are the two that fit the bill. And with Blink having the whole "through the eyes of a silent watcher" thing going for it, it fits the best with the network's overall style.
If Blink doesn't get picked up, I think TCD might get a second chance.
