Oh man, Robert is so good. I loved both of these scenes. Nice to see Hook and Charming working together, too. I hope they keep calling each other mate. :)
My poor Rumples. He's so defeated, now that he thinks Bae is dead (he's gonna turn up in FTL though, I just know it). I loved how Robert did the stagger backward when they told him. Hook seems to flip flop alot on whose side he's on.
They keep saying that "all magic comes with a price" and now Rumple believes that he is paying for bringing magic to Storybrooke with Bae's death. That even seems like a "reasonable" price except for the fact we know that he is actually alive and will be either stuck in FTL with Phillip, Aurora and Mulan or they are all in Neverland for some reason... But then what will be the REAL price? Because something should be...
I slightly disagree, because it might be that "the price of magic" is a double edge sword. It might be that the characters are meant to suffer a little more, but ultimately since this is fate orientated universe(s), the price of magic might be experiencing bad things from bad decision making, pushing to use magic for good things and good decision making. He has another opportunity to perhaps get to his son, but will he do the same thing as before? That to me is point of seeing this happen again.
Well, he is in shock and obviously not thinking clearly. Belle aside, Henry is still Neal/Bae's son and Rumple's grandson. Henry was born in this world, but I don't think he could survive Storybrooke's destruction. And even if he did, his family and everyone he's ever known would be gone: Emma, Regina, Snow, Charming, (and whoever else Henry is related to and we don't know about yet).
But that's the point: Rumple's just realised that all the 300 (or more) years he spent in efforts to make this elaborate scheme work, all the lives he destroyed, all the consequences of manipulating and turning people into 'monsters' and moving them like pieces on a chessboard, playing god and thinking he can change fate - it's all been for nothing. Or worse, it has been the primary cause of Neal's demise.
The gravity of this realisation is crushing, and the only accurate parallel to Rumple is the story of Oedipus king. (and I'm such a sucker for ancient Greek tragedy)
This looks very promising, I just hope the entire episode won't disappoint. =)
Hook is on his own side, so whichever one (good or bad) that benefits him is what he'll go with. Now I'm wondering what Team Good says to convince him.
I've been actually thinking about this and if they'd handle the emotional price consistently it could be very good but you gotta admit thinking that he lost Bae and really losing him are not the same. On the other hand if there should be a balance it would explain why Rumple was doing some good(ish) things through his deals; tricking people to willingly do what he asks of them without using dark magic. (Could be why the fucking Blue Fairy is pretending to be good.) Why Regina ended up the way that she did since I am pretty sure she wasn't told about this whole price thing until it was too late... BTW are we sure that throwing Mommy Dearest through the portal was her first magical deed? Because we know she protected Daniel's body with a spell and that was supposed to happen sooner which would indicate she did have some knowledge about how to use magic even before Rumple.
Maybe. But in FTL everyone knew about magic and she did have Cora as a mother using it all the time plus she's very powerful so who knows how it happened. There should be more flashbacks with young Regina and we'd know for sure...
A lot of stuff about that episode was a bit of a mess, since the implication of We Are Both was that Regina hadn't used magic before pushing Cora through the mirror. Also the whole thing with Jefferson being involved.
Really good point about Daniel's body in relation to the portal. It would suggest she had some knowledge sooner.
I have tried to lay my suspicions of the Blue Fairy to rest, but I would be delighted if at the end of the series more would be revealed about her and/or the nature of fairies--which Neverland could be a place to reveal a little about that-especially that it could also bridge shadow-dark one-wraiths origins too!
I agree it's not the same, but depending on what next season brings, which could be going through 'hell and back' could be a secondary reset for him to try again???
It's hard to say without knowing more information! -But good job with that catch about her knowledge of magic!!!!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI understand rumple's desperation, but if he stand down, Belle would die too, did he forgotten that?
ReplyDeleteI am thinking that by this point of finale he is already disillusioned with Lacey, so "belle" is already dead for him.
ReplyDeleteCue Belle regaining her memories and Rumple changing his opinion on the whole dying thing.

ReplyDeleteI think he will do something desperate to get belle back
