NCIS - Season 11 - Gary Glasberg Interview

15 May 2013

Is that something you want to do quickly next season?

I don’t know. It depends on how much I can handle in the opening episode. But, yeah, there are some threads and nuggets — there’s Delilah, there’s the Palmer baby. There are all kinds of little cookies in there that hopefully people will pick up on.

Tony and Ziva had a significant moment in this episode. The question I’m seeing most on Twitter: Did Ziva just ‘friend zone’ Tony?

I don’t think so. I think there’s a little more to it than that. I think they’re sort of dancing around each other and trying to get a sense of how to move forward and, based on everything that’s happened in the last year, where they are and what the next step is going to be. And, you know, we’re letting it slowly percolate and build and hopefully get it to a place that’s going to be satisfying for everybody.

I thought the forehead kiss was a nice touch.

Thank you. It might not satisfy everyone out there, but I think we’re getting there — she even reaches up with her hand and puts it very gently, and in a lovely way, on his shoulder before that kiss happens. I think there are gestures being made that have definitely advanced from where we were a year ago.

  1. So excited about the Palmer baby. Love that they're adopting! And I'm so glad we'll see those four months. And oh, I didn't realize Delilah was McGee's girlfriend - I thought maybe she was just someone he slept with. Can't wait to meet her!

And I trust Gary. Like I said he said, Tiva's getting there slowly, but they've made so much progress this season alone. They'll get there.

  2. Part of the fun in making Tiva happen is seeing them in an actual relationship. If they wait until the final season to make it happen then that's not enough time for the payoff. Bones, as much as I like the show, ruined a significant portion of that payoff by doing a time jump.

I swear, when NCIS returns, at least one of those two are going to be in a new relationship.

  3. Tony hasn't been the class clown for quite a few years now.He might joke a bit as seen like a class clown but compared to 6,7 years a go Tony had grown up.

  4. The way he described Tiva is the way I saw it as well. I would be afraid in Zivas shoes as well! She doesn't have ANY family left and she doesn't want to screw up her team family. The feelings are there, but she is afraid to lose Tony. She couldn't make ONE relationship work yet.

  5. I think if something gonna happen with tony and ziva it has to happen fast because a lot of people is getting tired of waiting and they will lose interest in the show.

  6. They have doing this dance around TIVA for to long, I am done dancing. Either get it on, or ruin the whole relationship with this friendzone speach. It has been going on to long, people are getting bored and fed up with it and they are not realizing that. Theyare going to lose fans this way, either way solve it.

I agree with you on several points although I'm not quite done...yet. Absolutely hate TIVA. Never saw the supposed chemistry btn the two characters and after all of the crap Ziva has pulled, Tony would have to be the biggest masochist in the world not to mention having zero self-esteem to hook up with her. Yeah, Gibbs has a lot to answer for, but Ziva is the one who got them into their current mess (with Vance's blessing) and who opened the door to Gibbs being investigated because of her refusal to stand down. I would infinitely prefer seeing Gibbs-angst as he reviews his past actions with Jiminy-Mike hanging on his shoulder.

  8. First of all, we don't know what went down before Bodnar fell to his death, if they wanted to make it perfectly clear that Ziva pushed him off premeditatedly it would've been shown on screen, now it's more ambiguous.

But the NCIS-team has not really been honourable, (if by honourable you mean doing things by the book,) for a very long time, if ever. Maybe this storyline with Ziva going after Bodnar was indeed the straw that broke the camel's back, but if you're gonna break a camel's back with a single straw, you have to first pack a significant amount of other stuff on it first, and the NCIS-team have been doing that since basically season 1.

  9. Sorry, but NCIS is over for me. All of them have crossed the line and are no longer the honourable agents we all knew and loved. How Ziva was allowed to get away with murder was a disgrace and no matter if Bodhar murdered her father, she did the same and is also a murderer. I want Tiva finished and I have had enough of all this "Will they want they", honestly I dont care. I want Ziva gone and Tony to grow up a bit and not be the "Class Clown" in all the episodes. He's a 40 + adult its about time the writers started treating him as one
