Fox has greenlit four new dramas for fall, including J.J. Abrams‘ futuristic cop thriller Almost Human and a modern-day take on Sleepy Hollow.

Also receiving series orders from the network are Gang Related and Rake. They join Seth MacFarlane’s new live-action sitcom Dads, which already received a six-episode order. Additional comedy series pickups will be announced later this evening.

Here’s the logline/casting/pedigree info for each of the new series:

  5. I may actually check out FOX this fall, as opposed to last fall when I had absolutely no interest in their new dramas.

  6. Yeah! Almost Human! I'm totally going to watch it! As JH Wyman and JJ Abrams are involved, I hope this can become my Fringe replacement :D

  9. TVline just updated, Boomeran, Delirium and The List are all dead. Sad about Delirium

  10. Oh Delirium :/ I really wanted that one, although I wasn't very hopeful based on recent pilot buzz. Out of these, I am very excited about Almost Human, it sounds great!! Rake I need to see buzz and trailers, and Sleepy Hollow gets a pilot trial for me probably. Gang Related I dunno... Doesn't sound interesting at at all to me, but I will maybe give it a shot for Terry O'Quinn alone, as my Lost roots speak way too high. Delirium :(

  11. Delirium has been officially passed on :/

  12. Yeah sad :( Well no point in crying over something that won't ever start

  13. Yeah for Almost Human and Gang Related.

  14. Might check out sleepy hollow but the others sound like crappy, inhuman sounds like a remake of robocop.

  20. Actually, Almost Human is what Joel Wyman wanted to work on before he joined FRINGE. Fringe had parallels to Philip Dick's work including an episode title "Do Shapeshifters Dream of Electric Sheep" , so given that and that Androids may be similar to Observers and.o Shapeshifters, this work most likely will be in the spirit of Blade Runner/Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Joel Wyman had described it once as "bombastic".

  21. Yeah true. And I am actually pretty happy with Almost Human. Just hope it can avoid the friday treatment!

Obviously i'm going to check out Almost Human with the hope that it might be a decent replacement for Fringe... Also, i'm interested in the other three shows as well which is weird, since Fringe and in a much smaller degree The Following, are the only good shows on Fox..

very happy about almost human. not sure about rake, haven't seen the original australian version, so i guess i'll check out the fox remake trailer then. gang related seems pretty interesting... has a little bit of 'the departed' like feel to it. sad that delirium or the list wasn't picked up- either one of those two should've taken the spot of 'sleepy hollow'...

  24. These actually sound pretty interesting I'll check them all out. Hope they are as good as they sound. What we get is not always what we expect

    ReplyDelete
  25. ::fingers crossed::

Also I just noticed that Mekia Cox is listed too. She was Samantha Bloom's sister in Undercovers. I actually really liked her character and sometimes thought she would have made a better spy!

I was really excited about FOX's drama pilots this year so I like all of their choices. I was just really hoping Boomerang would make it though...maybe it will be picked up by FX or something...

  30. Haha love it!!!! :)

    Here's something about the pilot

    Travis Yanan ‏@travisyanan20h

FOX's Boomerang: love. Fun, dark tone. Concerned about losing interest, no hint where show might go in medium- or long-term. #pilotread2013

  32. Particularly excited about Sleepy Hollow and Almost Human. Those were the two pilots on FOX that I wanted to see but I'll check out all of these I think.

  33. NEW JJ SCI-FI SHOW (please be better than the last few shows he has done) but yay NEW JJ SCI-FI

Gang Related has the potential to be quite intersesting but not sure

    ReplyDelete
  34. Might check out 'Gang Related' and 'Almost Human', the others don't sound that interesting, but I'll wait on trailers/early reviews on all of them before deciding.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Only Almost Human sounds interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think I might check all of these but Rake, depending on how they do in the ratings. Too bad about Delirium though, I was looking forward to it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh, I love Miranda Otto. I'll definitely give Rake a shot! (I have a rule that states I should give every show that casts a LOTR actor at least a chance, and that rule gave me Fringe and GOT, so yeah!)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yay for 'Almost Human'! Been looking forward to this one, since FOX seems to love anything by JJ Abrams and Co. Also like the look of 'Sleepy Hollow' and will maybe check out 'Gang Related' mainly for Terry O'Quinn

    ReplyDelete
  39. Geez Dark, way to make me think they "almost" ordered "Human". ;)
I'm just going to keep calling it Human. Almost Human takes away the cool double meaning of that title!

    ReplyDelete
  40. ahaha love it too

  41. almost human is basically this.. but as a cop show

  42. Heres how i see the schedule..

Sundays.. Animations with murder police coming in at midseason.. or taking the cleveland show's place

Mondays - 8 pm. Bones.. - 9 pm. Gang related with following at midseason

    Tuesdays - 8 pm. Enlisted.. - 8:30 pm. Brooklyn 9-9.. - 9 pm. The New Girl.. - 9:30 pm. The New Girl

    ReplyDelete
  43. Perhaps Moving the animation block to saturdays.. where COPS was

and making sundays a male centric sitcoms block with enlisted, Brooklyn 9-9, Dads And Surviving Jack and moving Us & Them and raising hope to tuesdays..

    ReplyDelete
  44. Totally disagree! :D

As you know originally it was "Inhuman" and then "Human"...what I like about Inhuman and Almost Human is that it points out that this show is about a contrast in what being human is, because we're going to be dealing with something that will attempt to present itself as "beyond human".

It's going to ask us what human is, as humans will surely do deplorable things (Inhumane) and Androids will occasionally go against their protocol on whims of emotional responses! (I'm thinking Observers and Newton) So I like the idea of having a title that points out a "difference" as opposed to not really making that idea aware at all in it's title.

  45. I think they'll try and put their sci-fi/fantasy stuff on another day (maybe Mondays). Friday is still a bit of a death slot. It took a couple years before FRINGE moved there, but I will be curious with 3 and possibly 4 Bad Robot shows out next year, if any of them will end up competing against each other?!

    ReplyDelete
  46. all of this sounds good, the behind-the-camera crews are as exciting as the casts

    ReplyDelete
  47. That's exactly why I like ''Human'' more haha! ''Human'' makes it sound like it's about humans/humanity at first, while you would discover when you watch the show that it's actually about androids and their journey of trying to be human (or whatever). That way it has a nice double meaning and a twist, like the title of LOST. ''Almost Human'' just sort of throws that idea in your face like saying ''hey, this show is about androids who try to be human, but AREN'T human!''... Like you say, it sort of points it out for you.

Honestly though, I don't care much about the title of the show as long as its good (and has JJ Abrams as a producer)... :D

    Love discussing it though! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  48. That's awesome! Is that supposed to be Emma Hill from The Following?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ya! If it's good, it's good. It doesn't matter what the title is! -That I can surely agree on! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  50. YESS! shes actually the star of that short movie..
