The famous amazon may still fly on network TV.
CW Topper Mark Pedowitz told reporters after the network’s upfront presentation today that the Wonder Woman prequel dubbed Amazon remains in development, even though it didn’t make the cut for fall. “Oh God yes,” Pedowitz replied, when asked whether the project was still alive. “It’s being redeveloped. We don’t want to produce something” that doesn’t do the franchise justice.
“It’s the trickiest of all the DC characters,” he added.

The should put Annalynne Mccord (9O21O) as WONDER WOMAN
ReplyDeleteIt sounds good but who will they cast in the lead? The hole problem with Wonder Woman is that it's hard to find a good actress for the role.
ReplyDeleteI think the title is incomplete, maybe this is what they meant.....
ReplyDelete"CW's Wonder Woman prequel still alive, until it dies again."
Warner Brothers must still be kicking themselves after rejecting the Joss Whedon film all those years ago. The character needs not only a strong actress but a strong writer.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think any modern Wonder Woman series is doomed to fail.
ReplyDeleteThe best part of the comic or previous series is the campy element. The Linda Carter series would have never made it if not for the tiny costume and "jiggle TV" being all the rage in that era. That won;t play in today's TV era.
I have to disagree here. If the cast is good and the stories too well they can pull it off. The problem at least from my perspective is the lead actress.
ReplyDeleteTaylor Cole /discussion
ReplyDeleteIs Charisma Carpenter too old for the part now?
ReplyDeleteSadly for CW she is, they would cast someone in their early 20s.
ReplyDeleteThey shouldn't do this. And by that I don't necessarily mean that a Wonder Woman prequel shouldn't be made: more so that CW shouldn't do it. After 10 years of crapping on the once well respected origin story of Superman do we really want to see how badly the CW can violate Wonder Woman's origin story? I think not. I'm all for being creative and thinking outside the box when appropriate but Wonder Woman's story is really pretty straight forward. She grows up isolated on Paradise Island living among the amazons. That means no men. Period. She trains to become their finest warrior and becomes their champion. When Steve Trevor crash lands on the island she ventures to the outside world to take him home. But she leaves and first experiences the outside world AS Wonder Woman. That is part of the schtick. Diana is wide eyed and unfamiliar with the ways of men and the outside world. And its from that perspective that her identity as Wonder Woman develops. If CW were to take this on they would have to throw away the concept of Diana growing up on Paradise Island with no men around. They would have to because CW doesn't know how to produce a show that doesn't have hot young guys being stupid around stupid hot young girls. So Paradise Island would still be there but there would be a section that had only men and somehow young Diana would interact with them and somehow she would go to the outside world early because this is the CW and they couldn't produce a show that was ONLY on an island so they would find a way to have Diana leave and perhaps come back etc etc. And they would call that a Wonder Woman story. BULL CRAP!!
ReplyDeleteI concur!
ReplyDeleteyes especially a prequel
ReplyDeleteI'd have a better chance of finding an invisible jet than seeing Wonder Woman back on TV. That character is a broadcast development black hole. Ideas, scripts, and pilots go in but they never come out.
ReplyDeleteok
ReplyDeleteBut some of his ideas were not Diana at all, like she has to be shot to become more human. That is just stupid so I don't think they are, just them kicking themselves to get Justice League and the feature films for Wonder Woman and the Flash right, maybe kicking themselves for the mess that was Green Lantern.
ReplyDeleteThe casting calls that came out had Diana as a young woman on both Themyscira and Man's World, Allan Hinberg is a huge Wonder Woman fan and if anyone can get this right, it's him.
ReplyDeleteI didn't much like Adrianne Palicki in the first pilot they did, though I've liked her in other roles - she just didn't seem good in this one, she wasn't confident with the material.
ReplyDeleteI reckon Jaimie Alexander or Janet Montgomery would both be good choices who could pull off both the role and the costume - I'm probably in the minority but I don't think the original would fly too well, perhaps the comics reboot costume that caused some controversey but grew on people - it's more practical and still hot and doesn't look as tacky as the costume they had Adrianne wearing..
Seeing as they didn't even have a real script for this, I'm glad they didn't just go with whatever, and are bidding their time to actually (hopefully) do it right.
ReplyDeleteNo discussion required. I can totally see it.
ReplyDeleteThe issue is that it shouldn't resemble the Wonder Woman series, because that Wonder Woman series doesn't resemble modern Wonder Woman in the DCU.
ReplyDeleteMAGGIE Q! She loves Wonder Woman, she's ending Nikita with a 6 episode final season, she has already voiced Wonder Woman in YJU and nobody can kick ass and do their own stunts to the magnitude that she does.

ReplyDeleteMAGGIE Q! She trained with Jackie Chan's people, she's an amazing actress and she's f*cking gorgeous. CW should wait for her to wrap up the final 6 episode season, then beg her to do this. She also has already done the voice of Wonder Woman on YJI
