Nikita needs a full season to end things! If they do that then I won't mind if its the final season. I didn't see this show's storylines lasting longer than that anyway. Let this show go out with a bang, CW!
I just can't believe an article that says Go On and Guys With Kids(Season 1, 22 episodes, with 1.0/1.1's on it's demo) have better oportunities than a show like Community(Season 4, 84 episodes, with 1.0/1.2's on the demo and deals with Comedy Central, Hulu and Netflix)...
And also, being Community the show that better press gives to the network aside Parks & Rec...
I just can't believe they're THAT stupid at NBC! Who the hell told marketing to these guys? Also, with Chevy gone, the cost for next Season will be way smaller...
I'm really going to miss Community, it was/is a great show. But I'd rather it go out remembered that way than see it continue at the expense of the characters and development we have come to know and love being thrown aside to bring back Jeff/Britta.
yeah...like with Nashville. Ausiello said in that interview today that his insiders tell him it's " a sure thing" ....and here it looks like it could go either way.
Fucking NBC and their dumbass ideas. About a Boy is the TV adaptation of the film with Hugh Grant and a kid, I think (except there's no Grant here). Yeah, NBC, that'll work on a weekly basis for years to come. Fucking morons if they cancel Community to put that crap on the air alongside fucking Guys with Kids (so they're officially Jimmy Fallon's bitch - Fallon, btw, he seems nice but I really don't get the appeal).
Community will be in SYNDICATION on Comedy Central this fall, the ratings are likely to get better, and now the show brings in more money to NBC (also, there's no Chevy Chase salary now). Why the hell would you want to stop now when there's a demand (and having a reliable veteran will be good when, by mid-October, all their new, promising comedies bomb).
Good for Go On's possible renewal (but if it's at the expense of Community, as much as I like Go On, hell no !) and Nikita's possible 22-episode order, now those are good surprises.
If Nikita gets renewed for a FINAL season of 22 episodes, I don't want to see more bitching NEXT year about the CW not treating the show well and "being stupid for not renewing it for a Season 5".
I take all these articles with a grain of salt. These online writers like to act like they have this inside and all they are really doing is probably looking at TVBTN renewal prediction chart
"Oh my God, so many articles are saying so many different things" The lack of consensus is a good indicator that the majority of these outlets posting renewal / cancellation articles don't really know a damn thing.
I agree, and this is why following the pilots season is so boring this year compared to last year, because last year there was much clearer information available.
It's such a fantastic show, and it gets barely any notice at all. Probably my favorite comedy right now on tv. Hope it either gets picked up by USA or renewed.
Does Community have a deal with Netflix? It isn't on Netflix right now in the US. I agree though that an extra season of Community makes more sense than extra season of Guys With Kids. The fact that no show has held on to the Voice's lead-in as well as Go On did might have helped it a little bit, either way I'll be glad if it comes back
Mostly because the networks themselves never seem to know until the last minute. I mean, look at what happened with Parks & Rec this season or Eureka's final season on SyFy.
Agreed, this and Parks and Rec and The Mindy Project are all my favorite comedies. (Strangely I love cable dramas but rarely cable comedies to the degree of broadcast ones...which usually sucks for me.)
Here, on Latin America, Netflix got all 3 seasons(It's the only way to watch Community, at least on Argentina, where only Season 1 is avalible on DVD). The thing with Go On is that for a New Show, when The Voice was out it's ratings were down the hill... And each Season, a show tends to lose like 15 to 20% of it's viewers, that means next Season will hit 0.8s for sure...
A show that can't be sustained by itself is a bad show... Community has 1.0/1.2/1.3s in it's fourth Season. The money you lost by the less viewers each Season, you recover from syndication deals. Here, i had a bunch of friends that contracted Netflix just for Community, cause i show Community to everyone!
Community is the most intelligent comedy in the US, right now. My sister's boyfriend(Not a regular Tv guy) got hooked when i made him watched the episode of "Political Science" and how they goof the political system and such... I showed him Big Bang, New Girl(He hates it, said it was a really stupid show xD - I love how he hates the characters of Nick and Jess Jajaja), etc and he didn't seems to like them...
Community does appeal to another type of audience...
I think they are mistaken on two NBC shows: Guys with kids will be cancelled while Community will be renewed. It's really quite simple, Community's 1.2> Guys with Kids 1.0. Community is a 4 year old show with much syndication potential than Guys with Kids. Community is in a harder timeslot than Guys with kids. So it's pretty obvious what show should be renewed
At this point I am not sure what to believe. I am surprised they say How to Live will be canceled. While a bubble show, I still feel like it has high chances of coming back. I am also surprised with the low number of comedy pilots ordered by CBS. And I am not sure I believe Community has been canceled. Though nothing in there screams shock to me, a lot of my bubble show guesses would be going in the opposite direction. Let's wait and see, we are almost there
I agree with that. Community has had its time and I think other shows deserve a chance like it got (such as Go On). I wouldn't be sad if it got cancelled, but I'd also be happy if it was renewed.
Agree with all except COMMUNITY. Don't watch it but it's like 4 episodes until syndication after this season, so 13 episodes seems extremely likely, unless syndication accepts 84. I also disagree that How to Live With Your Parents (FTROYL) will be cancelled. I adore Sarah Chalke so hope she gets another season and it's not another Mad Love.
Agree with both your Points. I would also be surprised (albeit not shocked) with a Guys with Kids renewal, especially if it is over Community. Also surprised about Hannibal. And I am also leaning towards renewal for MC, even though it really is a tossup at this point.
You don't need to sing the praises of Community to me, I love that show! I would actually say though that Happy Endings is the most intelligent comedy right now since Community dipped in quality this season. But it's still good to know that Community has streaming deals internationally, which should make it more profitable. I personally would be surprised if it doesn't get a shortened 16 episode season to bring the episode count to 100.
I bet NBC is willing to see if some of Go On's viewers from its post-Voice slot will come back, even if they move the show to Thursday. The upside to renewing the show is big enough that it's worth seeing where the show goes.
Community actually already has a syndication deal with Comedy central, so it doesn't need 88 episodes. Having the deal, though, just means it makes even more sense to renew the show since all those additional episodes will be syndicated as well, whereas if they renew something like Guys With Kids and then cancel it, they will never see any syndication money at all.
I had no idea whatsoever that Criminal Minds might not return and I am NOT PLEASED.
This person has to be wrong about Community.
I want (and I know many of them aren't even threatened, but am writing them down anyway, hehe):
Criminal Minds, NCIS (the original, I don't care for the LA one), Castle (I repeat: Castle), Community, HIMYM (meh nowadays but I have to find out who the hell the mother is), Parks, POI, Elementary (I thought I wouldn't like it and was very ver judgemental, but I was wrong), TBBT (not on it's best days but still ok), Arrow (I know, it's the CW but the show isn't half bad) and OUaT (make amends, writers!!).
The confusion on Criminal Minds was due to contract negotiations. All male cast members are supposedly safely on board; while the two remaining ladies are said to have turned down offers which would have them making far less than the men...
As long as Nikita gets its final season, I'm good. Even a shortened season would be okay - the only real "big" storyline left to tie up is taking down Amanda/The Shop, and I think they can do that in 13 or even 10 episodes. (Obviously, a full season would be sweeter, but only if they had a real plan for it and the show didn't shoot off the tracks.) There are so many contradicting statements from different sources that I'm just going to regard them all with a grain of salt, and wait to see what happens.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oh my God, so many speculations are saying so many different things and I don't know what to believe anymore.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone knew Nikita would get renewed. It's just that fans expected 22 episodes.
ReplyDeleteI guess 13 episodes it is!
i have to admit i love the new normal even if it looks like cancellation i can stil hope for a renewal :)
ReplyDeleteThumbs up for a 22 episode order of Nikita...come on CW...we all want you to.
ReplyDeleteNikita needs a full season to end things! If they do that then I won't mind if its the final season. I didn't see this show's storylines lasting longer than that anyway. Let this show go out with a bang, CW!
ReplyDeleteYAY for Hannibal!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst time i see that someone is saying Community is going to be cancelled, always heard may or may be
ReplyDeleteI just can't believe an article that says Go On and Guys With Kids(Season 1, 22 episodes, with 1.0/1.1's on it's demo) have better oportunities than a show like Community(Season 4, 84 episodes, with 1.0/1.2's on the demo and deals with Comedy Central, Hulu and Netflix)...

The only bubble show I care about Is nikita.Once Upon a Time and Revenge are shoo ins to be renewed.
ReplyDeleteI can live with a final 13 episodes for nikita but they hsould really be given a 22 final season.
It's clear the studio has always been more a fan of nikita than the CW.
I'm really going to miss Community, it was/is a great show. But I'd rather it go out remembered that way than see it continue at the expense of the characters and development we have come to know and love being thrown aside to bring back Jeff/Britta.

ReplyDeletethey have a newer one
Thank you, updated the post with it!
ReplyDeletethank you...and woah! thank god!
ReplyDeleteReally hope Hannibal gets renewed, the fact that they always planned for 13 episode seasons might give it a chance, cheaper than 22
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty much always been about syndication.
ReplyDeleteFucking NBC and their dumbass ideas. About a Boy is the TV adaptation of the film with Hugh Grant and a kid, I think (except there's no Grant here). Yeah, NBC, that'll work on a weekly basis for years to come. ABC please renew Happy Endings. :(
ReplyDeletePretty much.

ReplyDelete:facepalm:
So the gang related show is the contender on Fox,geez that's why i thought we had the 6 & 11 o'clock news..
ReplyDeleteWell we do have "The Following" on Fox and "Hannibal" on NBC.
ReplyDeleteSerial Killers and Cannibalism, who doesn't love em?
I take all these articles with a grain of salt. These online writers like to act like they have this inside and all they are really doing is probably looking at TVBTN renewal prediction chart
ReplyDelete"Oh my God, so many articles are saying so many different things"

I agree, and this is why following the pilots season is so boring this year compared to last year, because last year there was much clearer information available.
ReplyDeleteOther shows have fans like that, even some Secret Circle fans have been lurking around wanting to be renewed for another season.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a fantastic show, and it gets barely any notice at all. Probably my favorite comedy right now on tv. Hope it either gets picked up by USA or renewed.

ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who is a huge Community fan, yet kinda doesn't want it to be renewed?
ReplyDeleteProbably. It's had a great run, yet I think that it's time.
You are not. I might have thought diferently, if Dan Harmon was still at the helm, but he is not and this season just didn't feel quite right to me.
ReplyDeleteMostly because the networks themselves never seem to know until the last minute. I mean, look at what happened with Parks & Rec this season or Eureka's final season on SyFy.
ReplyDeleteIf they cancel it I really hope another network picks it up.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, this and Parks and Rec and The Mindy Project are all my favorite comedies. (Strangely I love cable dramas but rarely cable comedies to the degree of broadcast ones...which usually sucks for me.)
ReplyDeleteLol,yeah,i was being grumpy! I do love em,i just want to hear Human gets ordered! :P

ReplyDeleteThere is also Bates Motel and, obviously, Dexter
ReplyDeleteI don't even regard Nikita as a bubble show, it is a sure thing to me.
ReplyDeleteI still say that it will be back.
ReplyDeleteThis is the truth
ReplyDeleteI agree with that. Community has had its time and I think other shows deserve a chance like it got (such as Go On). I wouldn't be sad if it got cancelled, but I'd also be happy if it was renewed.

These people are worst than stock market investors, the just guess and hope for the best.
ReplyDeletedon't worry, USA will pick it up :)
ReplyDeleteThe confusion on Criminal Minds was due to contract negotiations. All male cast members are supposedly safely on board; while the two remaining ladies are said to have turned down offers which would have them making far less than the men...
ReplyDeleteHope they're right about Body Of Proof and Nikita.
ReplyDeleteHuh.... there's some stuff there that totally contradicts other sources....
ReplyDeleteI'm confused...
Yeah, they deserve the same. It is just absurd.
ReplyDeleteBut then again this is the same show which attempted to replace the women a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Nikita gets its final season, I'm good.
