Sorry for the obscure acronym. I guess my geek is showing. LMD stands for Life Model Decoy. It's a concept from the comics. They're perfect android copies of human beings used for various purposes. Since Agent Coulson died in the Avengers film the only way I can think that he'd show up on this TV show is if he's an LMD and not the original flesh-and-blood Coulson.
Thanks for the explanation, I did hear of Life Model Decoys on Avengers board, but the acronym didn't register. ;] I was always skeptical about Coulson's death. He could have been saved, Fury could have lied to the Avengers to spur them into action. I think Joss Whedon has said something about the significance of the whole experience for Coulson, but can remember what exactly at the moment.
Honestly, much as I love Coulson, Whedon and the Marvel universe, I'm not sure how I feel about this show. I need to see promos and read reviews, cause I'm not sure what vibe this show is going to have (there are a lot of young agents here and I'm worried it'll have a Buffy-Scooby gang feel to it) and it's all original characters, no super heroes... I'm not sure if it'll hold my interest. And they'd better have a good explanation for Coulson surviving- his death hurt me and it'd better not just be reversed.
I was also really upset when Coulson died. I've secretly held out hope that he didn't really die in Avengers, but I think when they first started developing the show I heard that this might be pre-Avengers movie or something similar to that. Since it was a while ago, though, I might be wrong.
It's not pre-Avengers, it's post-Avengers- Marvel said so a while back. So now everyone is wondering how Coulson is alive, which hopefully they have a satisfying answer to.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I think I'm gonna like this show :)
ReplyDeleteCoulson had better be an LMD. I don't know how they'd explain his presence otherwise.
ReplyDeleteHere for Son of Coul!
ReplyDeleteWhat's LMD?
ReplyDeleteLove it.

ReplyDeleteIs Coulson an equivalent of Agent Gibbs (NCIS) in the Avengers world?
ReplyDeleteIs it pedantic to be annoyed by the unnecessary hyphen in "biochemist"? Otherwise HELL YEAH I'M EXCITED FOR THIS :D

that is is Fury, but in this show yea u can say it will be like that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've always assumed that he faked his death to get The Avengers to unite. It's what I've thought since I saw the movie.

ReplyDeleteNo one's gonna say it? Ok.... "badges!? we don't need no stink'in badges!" ....oh and they look cool.

ReplyDeleteI pray to the heavens you're right... I don't want him to NOT have died in the movie.
