Without a doubt the top 2 are Percy and Amanda. Now deciding between them is difficult. Melinda Clarke plays wicked perfectly! And Xander Berkeley was awesome as Percy.
I voted for Percy and Amanda because they are two brilliant, ruthless masterminds who stop at nothing to destroy their enemies. They're significantly different from each other but both are awesome (although I don't enjoy Amanda this season nearly as much as in the first 2 seasons). That being said, Roan deserves an honorable mention because the guy was truly brutal and terrifying. Even Nikita would rather avoid a one-on-one match with him.
Amanda is definitely number one for me. Every time she shows up i just think, "Not again! What this time?" She is incredibly messed up, especially after seeing last week's episode. For number two, it was between Percy and Sam Matthews. I went with Sam just because he's done a complete 180 since getting his memories back and has become pretty darn devious.
I went with Percy and Patrick as he was my favourite of the 'Guardians' although if there was a subsection for Guardians that included all of Percy's coherts like Jeff Shore and the other one that attacked Gates House + Roan I would of put that as a 2nd.
I just don't like Amanda, never really have done either. Suppose it's her messing with peoples minds side that I'm not keen on whereas the Guardians were this supercool group built for contingency plans.
Haven't liked Amanda since Season 2, her whole purpose as a mysterious character has changed. She became from an introvertive with a purpose to extrovertive with no purpose. The way she has exposed herself is just not her character.
Percy never disappointed me as a villain. He has all the shades and colors that are similar to the archetypes such as Hannibal's wickedness and Hans Gruber's (Die Hard) suave mannerisms. Xander Berkeley did a wonderful job, and I wouldn't have minded if the writers had kept him longer in the show.
I also liked Ari Tasarov, although he is more like a neutral character than a villain. His motives weren't to hurt or kill Nikita for real, he was just doing what was for his own interests, nothing personal.
That is beyond difficult. I am between Percy, Amanda, Ari, Roan, Patrick, Sam, The Shop. I have to go with Patrick, purely because he was Irish, and soundeed awesome everytime he talked. Plus he was badass.
The Shop aren't really that bad (yet). Yes, they've killed a few people, but they did repair Michael's hand. I like Sam, but he hasn't really been around long enough. Roan was a great bad guy, and personally I think he was underused. Percy was awesome, and was a very default villain I think. He always had a plan. Even when Amanda captured him for 12 episodes. Plus it was Xander Berkeley, and he was awesome as George Mason in 24. Amanda I hate to the core. She's pure evil. Even Nikita knows she can't save her, not after when she was shown last week.
But I'm gonna go with Ari. He was a fun villain. He wasn't out to get Nikita or anyone, only if they got in his way. I don't think (to my memory) that he killed any significant characters (Division people) so that's a positive. Also, Peter Outerbridge was in 24, and so I was always gonna enjoy him.
Picked Percy. Early Amada would be a good pick but the Amanda this season...has been just a little too much in the 'we can't lose this villain so we'll been over backward to keep her on the canvas' category.
Amanda was my favorite character, not just villain, in the first 2 seasons but I'm just not feeling her this season. I miss the cool, calm, subtly scary, enigmatic Amanda. By taking her attachment to Nikita - which was fascinating when it was just one layer of the character - and making it the be all and end all of Amanda, they've reduced her to a one-note villain. She has no goals beyond her psycho vendetta, which makes her rather tiresome and dull. Also, on a shallow note, I much preferred her hair and wardrobe in the first 2 seasons (although it would have been unrealistic for her to maintain her perfect style while on the run).
I'm of the same opinion. I think Amanda in her current guise would be a fine Nemesis but as a Villain with a broader perspective she's been sorely lacking. I also find her ability to predict the specificity of certain scenarios extremely ridiculous. Nobody could possibly ensure the maximum damage the Amanda seems to be certain will unfold in every situation.
She doesn't even have to be anywhere near a situation and still it will play out exactly as she planned.
It makes our protagonists look really weak minded and predictable which is not in keeping with their depictions in previous years.
Good point in the beginning of your comment. It would be one thing if they shifted Amanda to being more of a side-villain this season, with The Shop/whoever as the Big Bad... but having her obsession with Nikita as the MAIN threat which drives the entire narrative has been underwhelming.
Honestly, based on this season alone I wouldn't vote for her. However, I'm taking into account the whole series so far, and I feel she was fantastic in the first 2 seasons. Craig Silverstein's comment about her makes me hopeful that they'll return her to her glory next season (he indicated she gets a new goal near the end of the season, because they don't want to do the same thing over and over again).
I agree. I was surprised and a little disappointed when they killed him off last season. Amanda might be more twisted, but Percy was always entertaining to watch.
I do believe Amanda has more goals than just that, it's like season 1 to season 2 when she blackmailed Percy and took Division from him by being with Oversight, maybe her goal this season is to become part of the Shop, and to achieve that she could try to replace or even control the US President, maybe using the same thing she used with Alex and Owen, or replacing her like that president Michael killed...Maybe this would be the WTF death that they talked about, like Percy's death in season 2 that no one saw it coming.
Percy and Amanda easily for the top 2, and even though Amanda has come up in a huge way as a first class head tripping baddie, I think I'd have to give the overall nod to Percy, as he was able to head trip Amanda.....
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeletePercy, of course.
ReplyDeletePercy had a certain humor that pushed him to the top for me.
ReplyDeleteIs it even a contest? Both Amanda and Percy made for some of the best TV villains ever. Voted for the both of course.
ReplyDeletePercy! And Amanda.
ReplyDeleteBut Roan is the one that scared me the most! So creepy!
How can anyone vote Amanda. She has no forward sight and her personal crush/vendetta on Nikita is borderline on pathetic stalker.
ReplyDeletePS. Writers fault, not Melinda Clarke. She can do a wicked scene when given the right material.
His name is Percival??? *cannot stop laughing*
ReplyDeletePercy by far. :)

Oh yeah, he said so in 2x22 when he called the President - "this is Percival Rose" :D

ReplyDeleteAmanda and Percy!
ReplyDeleteAmanda and Percy hands down. Roan would be third

Percy and Amanda, with Roan not far behind.
ReplyDeleteWhat about his last name? Doesn't sound very scary. XD

Amanda! she is the perfect psychologically threatening villain.
ReplyDeleteMy grudge with Amanda exactly.
ReplyDeleteXander's dry delivery of those lines was definitely killer. What a great actor.

ReplyDeleteRoan is the only one that scares me. That's my choice.
