  3. There's also Blake Neely, who's currently doing very good work on The Mentalist and Arrow.

  4. Rob Duncan is my favorite because I had the pleasure of interviewing him for SpoilerTV. I also love his work on Castle and Last Resort

Ramin Djawadi comes second for his excellent Game of Thrones and Person of Interest scoring

  5. Blake Neely (The Mentalist). Chad Seiter, Chris Tilton (Fringe). Ramin Djawadi (Person of Interest).

  6. Robert Duncan all the way!!!
My god, this man has made a amazing job with Castle! I absolutly love every music of season 5 of Castle without forgetting the "I just want you" score and Montgomery - the last stand!
I'm really in love with all of his music! He's a genius!!

  7. Easily Michael Giacchino!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Tim Jones (Chuck, Human Target season 2, Cult)

  9. How can you possibly not include MURRAY GOLD in this poll? He's one of the BEST composers ever, the music he made and makes for Doctor Who is just incredible. These are the only soundtracks I own where I'm otherwise not a fan of soundtracks (to listen to solely on CD, mind you - in the shows it's okay).
Also, Mark Isham comes to mind, his music for Once Upon A Time is fantastic as well. And the aforementioned Blake Neely.

  10. Michael Giacchino, he did a great job in Lost.

  11. Eric Christian Olsen ! (Ncis Los Angeles)
    Stana Katic (Castle)
    Daniela Ruah (Ncis Los Angeles)

  16. Ramin Djawadi - Game of Thrones

Epic theme song, epic individual theme's for important characters and epic dramatic moments.

  17. I never take time to check who composed the music for the show, but after looking of the examples mentioned in the poll I'd go with Michael Giacchino, because I loved the music in all the shows he's worked on.

  18. ALWAYS Michael Giacchino <3

  19. Michael Giacchino. He wrote quite a few pieces for LOST, all wonderful, especially Sun's theme. Lately, I've been noticing how beautiful the score is on The Walking Dead, so Bear McCreary is my second choice.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Tim Jones (Chuck, Human Target, CULT)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sean Callery (24, Homeland)

  22. Bear McCreary a 100%! His music always adds something good to a scene.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'll go with Robert Duncan from today's composers. His scoring of the final episode of Season 4 of "Castle" is still with me, and multiple viewings on TNT syndication and my DVDs have not lessened its impact. But I also remain very fond of Henry Mancini for "Peter Gunn" and "Remington Steele" (among others) and Jerry Goldsmith for "Man from U.N.C.L.E.(among others). And Lalo Schifrin's opening for "Mission Impossible" remains without peer.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh but that darn Tick Tock of that clock before every commercial going to and coming back from drove me crazy! :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wow,can't just pick one,but i have to go with Michael Giacchino for Fringe, LOST and Alias. But then we have Ramin Djawadi for GoT.

The Wire should be in here and i cannot remember Castle? I'll check that out later..

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ok, I voted for Duncan but c'mon, where's my Mark Isham???? He's a legend!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I voted other: Thomas Newman - loved his Fried Green Tomatoes tracks (first of many); he's done Six Feet Under, so he can be categorized as TV music composer. I say this because I would vote Yann Tiersen - Amelie Poulain and Goodbye Lenin are jewels amongst his recordings.

    ReplyDelete
  28. None of the above.

Jeff Beal is my favorite by far.

He is the composer/ musician that did the theme and scoring for HBO's Carivale, Luck, and Rome as well as the scoring for many TV series like Jessie Stone movies, In Plain Sight, Monk, Stphen King's Nightmares and Dreamscapes, Netflix's House of Cards and some movies like Appaloosa, He Was a Quiet Man, and Pollock. Well, and too many others to list frankly.

I love the unique quality of his work, often times incorporating horns into his work. It is almost ambient and always captures the mood of the scene or series so perfectly. Plus, it makes for an incredible insomniac sleep aid!

  29. Torn between Michael Giacchino and Bear McCreary (who also is doing Da Vinci's Demons). Really love both of their styles.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yea it got a wee bit monotonous after a while

    ReplyDelete
  31. Michael Giacchino, he's a genius! Also Sean Callery (24, Elementary).

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes,i was thinking of Chris Tilton,thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Let us not forget Mike Post: The Rockford Files, Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue, L.A. Law, Hunter, Law & Order (All Versions), The A-Team, Blossom, CHiPs, The Commish, Doogie Howser, M.D., Hardcastle & McCormick, Hunter, Magnum, P.I., Quantum Leap, Renegade, Riptide, Silk Stalkings, Tenspeed and Brown Shoe, The White Shadow, Wiseguy, Roughnecks, and many more.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Michael Giacchino of course and Ramin Djawadi (POI and GoT)

    ReplyDelete
  35. How the hell Bear McCreary isn't winning is insanity really, the BSG soundtracks are works of art in their own way without the TV show they still really stand alone and work.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Joseph LoDuca
    Ramin Djawadi

And other: Christopher Lennertz and Jay Gruska. The SPN guys. I love the SPN score...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Michael Giacchino, hands down - all of the music on Lost is amazing, the best music I have ever heard in a show.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Robert Duncan and Michael Giacchino for me! :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. easy one ! Robert Duncan !! he's a genius ! I wish he would do an album with all the songs he made on Castle... There are just beautiful !

  42. That's too bad,i'll never make it through a full remake..oh well!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh well, If you can get past those pesky clocks, it really was a great show, especially seasons 1, 5, 7 and 8

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh i already saw them, and yes they were good, that's why i wanted t do a rewatch! I'm sure i will still do it it will just take a lot longer. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Robert Duncan - Absolutely love Gunfight Epiphany from the Terriers. Best theme song eva.

    ReplyDelete
  46. robert duncan but also mark snow bc his tvmusic dominated my teenager years bc of the x-files

    ReplyDelete
  47. Michael Giacchino is my favorite. All of his work with J.J. Abrams and Pixar is the best.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Mark Snow and Robert Duncan.

    ReplyDelete
  49. hey,and how about Murray Gold, people?(from Doctor Who)

    ReplyDelete
  50. As I understood it, Giacchino did ''invent'' the sound and some of the main themes (like the end credits theme), but that was just for the first season too... There's a very clear difference between the music in season 1 and all the others, and that's because of Tilton!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yep. If you go to his website (or own the CD) you'll see he is ONLY credited for tracks 3 and 6, while Abrams (like most Bad Robot's works) is credited for opening sequence themes, and that Tilton and Sieter are credited for the rest. (And it makes sense that those 2 tracks are probably also "Pilot" music tracks)

But to Tilton's credit, he produced a score that is at time reminiscent to Giacchino's style.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Chris Tilton is very good! He's worked with Giacchino many times, so I think that explains why he has a similar style. By the way, the music for Alcatraz was composed by him as well after the Pilot, which was scored by Giacchino like on Fringe. :) I would still really love a soundtrack for that show... That main theme was so good.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Gotta say this Michael Giacchino dude

    ReplyDelete
  54. Mike Post for Hill Street Blues, Greatest American Hero...
Got a big collection of TV theme songs from the 50s to the 90s.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Three Majestros I love so much, that I tried to hunt down all of their Scores:
    1. Michael Giacchino (especially the emotional tracks)
    2. Bear McCreary (especially the actions tracks)
    3. Ramin Djawadi (all around Person of Interest and Game of Thrones)

    ReplyDelete
  56. For Fringe we should have had Chris Tilton, since he was in charge of most seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Robert Duncan for Castle, Mark Snow for The X-Files and Bear McCreary for Battlestar Galactica & Defiance. Sorry, could choose just one here, because all three are genius TV music composers and always adds, or added, very compelling music to the shows. So, it had to be three. :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. I voted Robert Duncan, but would struggled if Murray Gold was on the list.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Benjamin Pinkerton.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I went to the same high school as Michael Giacchino so I gotta go with him.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Actually, Abrams did the opening theme while Giacchino did the pilot score for Fringe (He is credited for ONLY 2 tracks on the season 1 sdtk), Chris Tilton an Chad Sieter are responsible for anything new and rearrangements for the rest of the series.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Michael Giacchino. Then Michael Giacchino again. Followed by Bear McCreary, Chris Tilton and Ramin Djawadi.

I think Daniel Licht really deserves a mention too! He's created a very recognizable and unique score for Dexter. He actually uses knives and chains for the music! I hear the soundtrack used all the time on Dutch reality TV shows hehe.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I never bought the dvd's so i thought of watching it on Netflix. Well,i only made it through 3 episodes before calling it quits,i just couldn't deal with it. Would you happen to know if the DVD's are the same way?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh yeah Bear,i didn't even see him! :P

    ReplyDelete
  65. Duncan, McCreary, and of course Giacchino

    ReplyDelete
  66. Bear McCreary that I discovered recently with the Da Vinci's Demons theme, Other: Daniel Licht for the amazing Dexter OST, and Ramin Djawadi.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Oh, I didn't know that about Alcatraz! Thanks! And I agree it would be GREAT to have an Alcatraz sdtk!

    They're a good team!
