For me, it's a tie between Red John and Dan Scott. Next would be Dale The Whale. Of those not on the list, I reckon Beverly Barlowe (Eureka), Astacorp (Touch), and General Monroe (Revolution) are good villains too!
my favourite tv villian will probably have to be dan scott and red john (even though we don't know who he is at the moment). dan scott is perhaps one of the most complex and layered villian/antihero in all of drama TV history (in my opinion)!
RED JOHN. Firstly, he's an outright villain. A villain in every sense of the word. The relationship he shares with Patrick Jane, the mind games, those odd little parallels, the strange symbiosis - perfect. Also, I know some are annoyed by it, but I enjoy the mystery aspect hugely. I'm not frightened of Joe Carroll in the slightest - but Red John, the faceless villain, still terrifies me. He'll have a name and a face one day, and I look forward to that, but I'm enjoying the ride to getting there!
I say this with no offense at all but I don't think the author of this poll watched enough episodes of Suits, Louis is not a villain! He is just a complex character
i actually have seen all of suits. to be honest, louis litt was all i could come up with when i submitted the post late at night a few months ago- if i were to write the poll now, i would write it differently- replace louis litt with daniel hardman.
Eh, I like The Mentalist, but I'm finding the Red John storyline to be ridiculous at this point. It's one thing to have a cunning adversary, it's another thing when the adversary has a godlike skill set. At this point I'm having trouble imagining any character living up to the expectations as a true villain.
Gustavo 'Gus' Fring - Breaking Bad The Governor - The Walking Dead Sister Mary Eunice - American Horror Story: Asylum Captain Windmark - Fringe The Trinity Killer - Dexter Victoria Grayson - Revenge...
Al is soooo missed! Didn´t he just have the best monologues ever? I also see Gus on your list. I love all the Breaking Bad characters, hard to choose a favorite.
I voted other, Boyd Crowder, but I agree, Mags Bennett, Robert Quarles and also Limehouse are all some of the best villians TV has ever seen. Walter White is amazing, ofcourse.
I wholeheartedly agree (although I don't watch The Following so I'm not sure about the Joe Carroll statement). The fact that Red John has stayed hidden for this long is incredible. But we're getting closer, I just know it. Although at the same time, I hope the finale just leads Jane (and the team and us) down another path to RJ because otherwise, next season might be the last and not as great.
Definitely Red John. The faceless, nameless bastard is a genius and without him, the show probably wouldn't be as interesting. As much as I want to find out who he is, I hope we don't find out for a while so the show can go on for a few more seasons.
Out of the ones on this list that I've watched, my vote would be Red John as he seems to be pure evil, my next nod would be for Elias for all his gamesmanship/scheming but there's just a little bit of humanity behind that stuff that might make him a bit redeemable RJ so far has none of that.
Ah, good old Joffrey, now there is an evil teen. Joffrey is also a wonderful character and so well played by the actor. All the Lannisters are very interesting villians. There are so many great villians out there. Hard to remember them all at once.
If we're taking every TV villain into account, and not just the villains that are currently on TV, I'm pretty confident my vote would have to go to Ben Linus.
Here you are! I haven't seen you around for awhile, seems like a few people haven't been around..Glad your here, hope all is well? And yes Sylar was a good villian! :)
Oh, Root is 100% horrifying - need I remind everyone about the time she almost took a hot iron to Samantha Shaw? - and that's why we love Amy Acker. Attracted to Root? That's kinda like admiring the chilling efficiency of the bacteria that caused the Black Plague.
Sylar - Heroes Moriarty- Sherlock Regina - Once Upon a Time The Governor - The Walking Dead Ben Linus, Evil Locke -Lost Yellow Eyes - Supernatural Spike - Buffy
For me it's a tie between The Master and Elias from those on the list... From characters that are not included on this list i would say Ben Linus is my favourite TV Villain as well as Gus Fring...
There are so many great villains on TV right now but of the choices, I'd have to say The Master from Doctor Who. Of those that immediately spring to mind from the 'not-listed' category Lex Luthor on Smallville.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteRed John
ReplyDeleteOn that list, I gotta go with Elias. His introduction was legendary.
ReplyDeleteI do have to comment that Red John simply has become too powerful to be a realistic villain. Frankly he's become more annoying than anything else.
Red John. Although, I could've gone with The Master. Also, where's Moriarty?
ReplyDeleteGus Fring - Breaking Bad
ReplyDeletePersonal preference I guess. Sometimes I'm looking for realism, other times I'm definitely not.

Other- Obersevers (but not September) and currently Root!
ReplyDeleteOh no,Louis is just misunderstood and he hurts so he strikes out at people, but he certainly isn't a villian.
Yes! how could i forget Ben? :P
ReplyDeleteCrowley on Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteHa! I forgot Kai Proctor. Love him (and just about all the Breaking Bad characters).
ReplyDeleteAl is soooo missed! Didn´t he just have the best monologues ever? I also see Gus on your list. I love all the Breaking Bad characters, hard to choose a favorite.
ReplyDeleteThe Lannisters - Game of Thrones
ReplyDeleteShame on you, Laura. :-)
ReplyDeleteMe neither. He is a great character, but not a villian.
ReplyDeleteI voted other, Boyd Crowder, but I agree, Mags Bennett, Robert Quarles and also Limehouse are all some of the best villians TV has ever seen.
ReplyDeleteWalter White is amazing, ofcourse.
Crowley - Supernatural
ReplyDeleteAri Haswari from NCIS
ReplyDeleteCrowley!!! Funny and evil
ReplyDeleteOut of these, Cora. But Revenge, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Dexter, among others are clearly missing from the list.
ReplyDeleteThe Silents - Doctor Who
ReplyDeleteSylar from Season 1 of Heroes is a pretty awesome villain.
ReplyDeleteRed John from The Mentalist, for me the Storyline is absolutley amazing!
ReplyDeleteLucifer, YED, Crowley.... - Supernatural
ReplyDeleteI don't see Louis Litt as a villain.
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree (although I don't watch The Following so I'm not sure about the Joe Carroll statement). The fact that Red John has stayed hidden for this long is incredible. ReplyDeleteHere you are! I haven't seen you around for awhile, seems like a few people haven't been around..Glad your here, hope all is well? And yes Sylar was a good villian! :)
ReplyDeleteRed John from The Mentalist! Epic!
ReplyDeleteI have just been a little busy of late.
ReplyDeleteI am well. How about you?
Crowley from Supernatural. My favorite demon ^^
ReplyDeleteOh, Root is 100% horrifying - need I remind everyone about the time she almost took a hot iron to Samantha Shaw? - and that's why we love Amy Acker. Attracted to Root? That's kinda like admiring the chilling efficiency of the bacteria that caused the Black Plague.
ReplyDeleteRegina from OUAT.
ReplyDeleteCigarette Smoking Man from X-Files, Management from Burn Notice, and Azazel from Supernatural for me.
ReplyDeleteFrom the list, Elias from Person of Interest.
nice one!
ReplyDeletePercy - Nikita
ReplyDeleteI don't watch those shows, so my other is Crowley of Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteRed John has quite a body count!
ReplyDeleteI agree he is a flawed man but not actively going against Jessica or anyone else.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Crowley. Another great villain, even though he got killed off, is/was Anson from Burn Notice.
ReplyDeleteSylar - Heroes
ReplyDeleteMoriarty- Sherlock
Regina - Once Upon a Time
The Governor - The Walking Dead
Ben Linus, Evil Locke -Lost
Yellow Eyes - Supernatural
Spike - Buffy
Alexei Volkoff although Shaw, Decker or Quinn could have been good choices from CHUCK
ReplyDeleteFrom the last year... Walter White (Breaking Bad), Root (Person Of Interest), Windmark (Fringe), Isaak Sirko (Dexter), The Governor (The Walking Dead)
ReplyDeleteFor me it's a tie between The Master and Elias from those on the list... From characters that are not included on this list i would say Ben Linus is my favourite TV Villain as well as Gus Fring...
ReplyDeleteRed John is one of the coolest villains I've (n)ever seen! lol
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! I forgot to include Al Swearengen as one of my favourites..thanks for reminding me.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I had been awake for about ten minutes when i came on..too early for my brain to think! :P
ReplyDeleteThinking about it now how could i not put Joffrey down!?! :P:P
The Governor, great choice! Sister Mary Eunice and Windmark, also.
ReplyDeleteMags Bennett - Justified. By far.
ReplyDeleteWalter White is my choice, too. Under "other."
ReplyDeleteThere are so many great villains on TV right now but of the choices, I'd have to say The Master from Doctor Who. Of those that immediately spring to mind from the 'not-listed' category Lex Luthor on Smallville.
ReplyDeleteMy other villan... Lex Luthor - Smallville :D
