    No good deed goes unpunished. Damon finally starts to become (slowly but surely) a better person and things keep getting worse and worse for him. This is a big reason why he was such a bastard to begin with. Every time he opens himself up it turns out badly for him. It's no wonder why he's protected himself all these years by being a complete ass to everyone.

    Exactly. Damon is becoming a better person by allowing others to be a part of his life. Sometimes you get hurt. But that's the price he has to pay. I just hope he realizes that it's still better than being alone.

    Sorry, I just don't see it. To me they are just friends. Close friends, you can share everything with, but still just friends. I think that a romantic relationship would ruin what they have now. I think, to him she's like a new Lexie. She was there for him, kept him together, but there never were any romantic feelings between them.

    I agree with you. In fact Stefan even told Caroline that she reminded him of Lexi when Stefan was trying to help her out when she was first turned. Caroline also ships Stefan/Elena more than anyone else on the show. It's also nice to have one male/female friendship because other than maybe Matt & Bonnie there aren't any.
