We can only hope! Looks like that dangerous op Philip didn't want to do from episode two may come back to bite them. The maid lady (forgot her name) can give a description of both of them.
I get the importance of the Martha story arc, but I hope it's not going to stretch on too much longer. There are these photos, and then clearly there's another scene since he's wearing a different suit in the promo. More focus on Philip, please, and less on "Clark" and Martha. She's wearing a robe in these pictures, which leaves me shuddering at the thought we'll have to sit through another "shoot yourself into me, Clark" scene. We only have two more episodes, and I really hope they provide some development in the Elizabeth/Philip relationship before going on break. Philip has been written like an extra for the past few in order to make room for other story arcs and IMHO the show suffers for it.
The maid reappearing can only mean bad things for Phillip and Elizabeth. If anyone could identify them it's this lady. They won't be caught - there wouldn't be much of a second season if they were. ;) But it will be interesting to see just how close to the truth Stan is allowed to get. I just wonder when Patterson will come back to haunt them, because I'm sure, at some point, he will. Patterson never should have been kidnapped in the first place, but once it was done, they should have finished the job.
Yeah, the maid does NOT look happy in that photo. She looks upset and worried. Maybe she'll keep her mouth shut, because of the threats to her son. We'll have to wait and see, but I have a sneaking suspicion that she is the one who provides the description of P/E, because I don't think Patterson actually saw Phillip, just Elizabeth.
Yup, agree with you there. I think the maid will talk because she's now busted as the one who put the clock back after they bugged it. Plus, she's really the only one who could've given them such an accurate sketch of what they looked like in that episode. I think it would be cool if one or both of them was busted eventually and had to turn double agent, but I think it's too early for that too. I also want to see them eventually have to say something to the kids, or have them start getting suspicious.
Never thought they would bring back the maid again! It's these little lingering plot threads that get resolution later on, that make me appreciate the show even more.
Between Patterson and the maid, they should have a pretty accurate description of the disguises of Philip and Elizabeth right?
Patterson actually says that he knows their is a man and a woman, even calls them a couple. Though you are right, we never hear him describe Philip's disguise.
Agree! And in the big picture, it has been interesting to see Philip develop Martha as a source over the course of the season, but now that we're approaching the end, I will be disappointed if they don't get back to more of the main characters, especially Philip. The real thing that drew me in during the pilot was the complexity of that relationship between him and Elizabeth and the many facets of his character. They've basically had him sulking for how many episodes now? Here's hoping we see that start to turn around and fix things up at least a bit before the end of the season.
I thought Elizabeth's disguise in this last episode was pretty decent. It was distracting to watch her and remember it was Elizabeth--for the first time the same way as when we see Philip in disguise. But her disguise in "The Clock" wasn't good at all--just hair in a bun and add bangs. Philip's wasn't that great either. He just straightened his hair and stuck on a mustache--same hair color, not that much to conceal his face. It would've been better if he'd had a disguise like when they snuck Elizabeth into the trunk of the car---I didn't even recognize him there.
God I hope so. I'm just growing a little sick of seeing Martha be so pathetic and hopeful and having it take up so much screen time away from Philip (and P/E and the family.) It's not even Martha's fault that she's pathetic--"Clark" is leading her there on purpose and doing everything to woo her into being nuts for him, but it's hard to watch too (especially the awful scenes we got to watch a few eps ago... shudders...)
Yeah, I don't get why the kids haven't discovered anything. I know that probably they're just used to this as "their" version of reality, but mom and dad are gone at all hours of the night, always secretive... and I can't believe they've never gone snooping around the house a bit to find a few things like the radio equipment Elizabeth uses to get messages, or their secret locker downstairs in the laundry room. And with some of the fights and stuff happening around the house, I can't believe they don't wake up.
I would guess Philip would turn too. That could be an interesting conflict if he was the one to turn and had to keep it a secret from Elizabeth.
This is a point of confusion for me too. I don't think he ever saw Philip because he was passed out before they got him out the window, and Philip wasn't in the room with him when Elizabeth was threatening to shoot him. The deduction that a man would be needed to help carry him makes complete sense. I can give the show that one. But what I don't understand is how he knew they were "a couple." Did he just mean a couple of people, or a "couple" couple? I would think they would've been careful to stuff him in the trunk and then talk softly on the car ride, or have the radio on. That seems like an amateur mistake if they didn't. I also wondered if Elizabeth drugged him during the fight, but I couldn't quite tell. She got something out of her purse while he was trying to feel her up, but I couldn't tell if it was some needle thing to stick him with or just lip gloss, LOL.
Or whatever version of "the truth" that Philip decides to share. I feel sorry for her too. She looks pathetic in a way because we're seeing it through the eyes of knowing it's all a ruse, but really "Clark" is leading her right there, wanting her to be that nuts for him so she'll do anything he asks.
I think there might even be a chance she might die cause I don't really see this plot going on for another season. But then on the other hand I don't really know what season 2 would be about anyway lol.
I hope she doesn't die... and I would think P/E would try to avoid killing FBI people whenever possible, if only because all the messiness and retribution that seems to occur whenever they do... plus, I think Philip would be enormously guilty if he's seduced this innocent woman, gotten all the info he could, then has to kill her. Philip will kill if he has to, but to do it under those circumstances would make him hate himself, I'd think, especially considering how Martha is practically eating out of his hand. That said, I have no doubt that if she becomes a threat to blow their cover, she goes bye bye. Still, I wasn't expecting Nina to live this long, so maybe there's a chance ol' Martha will make it too.
Yes, it was a needle. Elizabeth is rather reckless, but not reckless enough to take a time out to fix her lip gloss during hand-to-hand combat. ;-) She jabbed Patterson in either the neck or shoulder with the needle. That's what caused him to collapse.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>Did he just mean a couple of people, or a "couple" couple?
I wondered the same thing. I assumed he meant they were just a couple of people, maybe a team. I don't think Patterson realized they were romantically involved, but it wasn't entirely clear. If Patterson heard Elizabeth's meltdown, after she decided she couldn't kill him, then perhaps he just decided that the man involved HAD to be her lover, because no one else would go along with such a crazy plan (and let him live to tell about it)?! I really have no idea.
I think it would be hilarious if the writers had Martha turn the tables on "Clark" and dump him for being a lousy boyfriend. Seriously, how many women would carry on a longterm relationship with a flake who never agrees to see them anywhere outside their apartment? No dinner dates. No walks in the park. Nothing, but furtive and infrequent bedroom romps, and an uncomfortable ten minute brunch with Mom & Dad. Poor Martha.
>>>>>>>>>>And with some of the fights and stuff happening around the house, I can't believe they don't wake up.
I am an extremely light sleeper. If my parents had been engaging in kung fu combat in the living room, and murdering men in the garage, it would have led to some very awkward moments in our house - like them trying to explain why Daddy was stuffing a body in the car's trunk. LOL. My niece, on the other hand, actually slept through an earthquake once. I kid you not.
But even if we assume that Paige and Henry are equally sound sleepers, you'd think they'd show a bit more curiosity. And the whole "let's turn the water on and the radio up to cover the sound of our voices" nonsense is rather laughable. Their children would still be able to hear them. In fact, Paige indicated that she had heard them argue frequently in the past. She threw that tidbit in Elizabeth's face when P/E announced their separation. And the kids aren't the only ones who might hear them over the sound of the tap water and the weather forecast -- so could the KGB if they have the house bugged. I'm surprised by some of the conversations they've had indoors about the KGB/Grannie. Hasn't it occurred to them that Grannie and the Crew are probably listening in? Can they really be that naive? If I were them, at the very least, I would leave the house and go out to the backyard before I started talking about anything that involved the KGB.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Hm is Clark breaking up with Martha?
