  1. Well looks like another tense episode and more Philip/Elizabeth drama.

  2. It's about time Elizabeth had to ask for something, but here's betting she doesn't do it very nicely :P nor that it results in Philip getting any slack in return. After she made him sit in that crummy motel room eating pizza, I'd certainly be bargaining my way back onto the couch at least, but we all know Philip can be a total pushover to anything she wants and will do it just to be a nice guy.

I wish he'd risk upsetting her and do at least that much.

  4. When you think about it, it's really so selfish what they're doing to the kids. They could be captured or killed any day and then a normal childhood is OVER for Paige and Henry. You would think they would put a little more effort into patching things up without disrupting their kids lives with the separation. My one note of satisfaction is that Elizabeth is going to be getting mighty lonely after Gregory is gone and she doesn't have anyone who understands her. She may eventually decide her fake-husband isn't so bad after all.

  5. Not only would their normal childhood be over, their lives would probably be over, too. Could those children really be allowed to live if both parents died? That was the question I was left with after that torture episode. What would happen to them if both parents died? Unlike Robert's child, they are too old to be relocated to the USSR and live a normal life. Who would they live with even if the KGB managed to smuggle them out of the country? Are Phillip's parents living? Is Elizabeth's mother still alive? Would the KGB even go to the trouble of trying to smuggle two - probably very unwilling and vocal children - out of the country? I doubt it. They couldn't be left to the care of Social Services. If they were left in the States authorities would ask too many questions. The authorities would want to try and find surviving relatives, and that search could cause problems for the KGB if authorities discovered the truth about the "Jennings" family. If anything happens to Phillip and Elizabeth I think Grannie would probably kill those poor kids.

  6. I suspect you may be right. They certainly would never take them back to Russia. If they were any sort of threat to the KGB, I think they wouldn't hesitate to kill them. It's different with a baby, or an agent who's given a decade of service and would be willing to go. Two very American kids who don't want to go and can't speak the language would be nothing but trouble. All the more reason I think Philip is right to question how much longer they can really do this.

Phillip has a much firmer grasp on reality. He has no illusions left where the KGB is concerned. I hope that soon Elizabeth will begin to realize that she has been used by the KGB, that her loyalty and trust have been misplaced.

  8. Yes. I really hope that is what the push of the second season is about. They have enough problems with the conflict of KGB versus defecting without having to bring everyone's ex around to pull them apart. I would love to see them at a place where they're actually trying to make it work, but having to grapple with such different ideologies.
