Why can't we have both the brothers dress up and have fun together? I miss the brothers working together for more than one or two scenes. Going through withdrawals.
So, judging from how things tend to turn out, I'm surmising the following will happen in the next episode: -Charlie and Dean will have fun shenanigans, and the episode will be "light-hearted"... -Charlie will sacrifice herself to save Dean and she'll die either in the dream or shortly afterward... -We will have successfully killed off all but 1 recurring female character (sheriff Mills) and we all know by the end Amanda Tapping's character is toast as well...
Am I assuming too much here, or does anyone else find this frighteningly plausible? :|
At least Jared's getting a lot of rest this season. Probably needs it with a baby at home. God, I can't stand Charlie/Felicia Day. *prepares for the multitude of thumbs down and doesn't give a damn*
They don't care one hoot about Sam. I am expecting that the trials will change Sam so much that Dean will be forced to save him or kill him, because all Sam is good for is being an object of evil.
Probably because the actors want more time off as they are getting older and starting families of their own. I wouldn't expect it to get much better next year, since all principle actors will have babies. I don't like it...but I understand it.
Sad thing is, I love gaming. I'm a huge gamer. But Felicia Day is so overrated - IMHO - and I've disliked how Sue-ish Charlie's been written in all of her appearances. I doubt this one will be any different.
Studiously avoiding scrolling down... I'm sure there's lots of hate for what seems to be Sam's role (or lack thereof) in the episode. I'm not too worried about it. I'm pretty sure Jared doesn't mind - he still has a pretty new baby at home. On another note, ohhhhh how I love Jensen in costume...
Jared let out in Vegas Con they were recording with a Djinn in 8x20. In the promo Charlie says what Dean is in her dream, it makes total sense now. (Sorry for english, I from Brazil)
Dean looks SO INDREDIBLY sexy in this!!!But Sam...???Why is he in a hospital bed??? :'( I need a light episode after "Taxi Driver"....I need to calm down!!!
Um...I am not going to decide if this looks good or bad until after I watch the episode. The Golem ep had a trailer that looked dorky to me and I really liked the ep. So, maybe, despited the trailer I'll like this ep too.
I think the 'more time off' thing is generally a rather lame excuse for the bad season. X
What exactly does that mean anyway?
Let's say the J's only work three days a week now, instead of five.
That would mean that for at least half an episode anyway, they could be on-screen together, working the case or whatever. X
Then from what it seems, they are getting paid more; what employer gives his workers more money for doing less work? X
Anyway both guys have a steady job on the show and the very fact that they have families to keep now, should make them even more enthusiastic about their work.
X
Perhaps they might get better roles when Spn ends but there is no certainty of that, and as Jared once said when you do films and things, no-one cares about giving you time off for family affairs; it's not the same as working on SPN. X
Anyway lots of actors have families but that doesn't affect their work so i don't see why it should for the J's
Felicia Day's too popular in the sci-fi/fantasy/whatever world to be killed off unless she wants it, and while Charlie is polarizing, I'd say she's popular with SPN fans too.
also wanting time off does not account for bad writing and lack luster storyline. if the series is decaying, which it is, blame the people who steer the wheel not those that hang out on deck.
This looks fun, yes the finale near but a game episode looks cool. What if there was like a game 'god' or even Crowley's team that put them in there the storyline could be interesting and how they got there.
Very true! However, I was simply responding to her question as to why they are in so few scenes together. Certainly the writers could compensate much better than they do in order to work around the actors wanting more time off. Had the OP asked "why is the show so lame these days", I would have had a much lengthier response. :P
I couldn't agree more w/you! I hate this idea that J2 need all this time off b/c they have wives and babies. So what? Many people have families and jobs. Unfortunately (for them), they signed onto a 2-lead show.
Yeah. I find it really mysterious why we can't have more episodes with both brothers on-screen together.
There have been so few this season but they have also been the best ones; eg the Henry one! X This thing about them wanting more time off is hard to believe. Sam especially is more absent from the episodes than he is present, so I would say he has plenty of time off and I'm sure Dean isn't overworked either!
Surprise, surprise. Dean is teamed up with the guest star. Well I wasn't expecting that! X It's good to see that it's not always Sam that gets to co-star with the guest of the week. It's cool that poor Dean get his share of the limelight too! (eye-roll!) Why didn't they make Charlie the sleeping princess and let Dean and Sam fight monsters together for once!
I'm from Brazil, I can not speak English very well, I'm doing the caption for this promo, I need to know a line between Dean and Felicia shortly after appearing "DIE IN THE GAME", could someone answer me what that text speak?
Why do you hate Felicia? For all her Flog videos and her video games videos, and the The Guild behind the scene thing she seem such a funny and lovable person. Not like all those big tv stars who take themself way too seriously. I wouldn't watch a serie or whatever just cause she's in there, really, really not her biggest fan, but can't see too many reasons to hate her. I can understand why you don't like Charlie, but she's a character.
:) Don't worry about me, I won't putting you a thumb down, I think its the most stupid option ever IMO, made for troll who don't have a real opinion and just put one to everyone otherwise they would say why they disagree or just agree to disagree if everyone keep their position at the end of the day.
Yup! ATGB (the Henry episode) was so good b/c the brothers were in most of the episode together. I felt the same way about the Golem/Hitler one and T&F. All those episodes had a really good "old time" Supernatural feel, IMO. I miss that feeling!
I have the same feeling. This promo makes the episode look ridiculous, but I ended up loving the golem episode, so who knows. The only thing is - yes, they have other commitments (the actors) and whatnot, but look, you're in your final episodes of the season. I know they're already filmed, but, just enough with the ridiculous storylines for MOTW episodes! /end rant
True, the show has set a precedent for Sam being on the more negative side of major mythology events. But Dean being forced to save or kill him? Again, precedent dictates that the death of one of the brothers does not mean anything, at all. So even if your expectation came true, given the next season or two, I think we will be right back where we started.
While I understand and share your hope, my more general concern is that this seemingly "standalone" episode is actually important to the mytharc for the season. It's been badly, badly lacking in those.
7x20 (charlie's first ep) turned out to be significant to the mytharc....and SPN, in general, has a history of taking episodes that seem like filler and turning them on their heads. So, we will see how this one goes :)
"I'm pretty sure Jared doesn't mind - he still has a pretty new baby at home". Meaning no disrespect and it's still to be seen in S9, but will Jensen have more than a few "Dean-lite" episodes because of the same reasoning? Somehow I don't think so; I think in S9, the Js will have near equal screen time (JP likely less as usual) and MC and other guest characters will fill the remaining episode time. Misha has a new daughter "at home", too, younger than Thomas Padalecki, as well as his older son, West.
I realize all of that - and I didn't mean to imply that the recent episodes were "Sam-lite" because of Jared's new daddy status. I'm just saying I don't think he minds nearly as much as we do, and that's something to take into consideration. But I hope for Jensen's sake he gets a few of those lite episodes for himself. It's going to be an exciting new world for him.
I don't hate her, I really dislike her. I only hate two people on the planet, she isn't one of them. I don't see those things in her persona that most people do. She's very off-putting to me. I couldn't believe how utterly shallow and annoying she was on Talking Dead (The Walking Dead's "talk show") last season. Every comment she made was about "Shane's abs", "Shane's so hot", "women would follow Shane over Rick because THOSE ABS". I know TD isn't SERIOUS serious discussion, but for someone who makes her name on being The Girl Gamer Whom Is Supposed To Represent All Girl Gamers, I'd expected something of more substance to come out of her mouth. It irks me when they hold her up as the beacon of the female sect of the nerd/geek/gamer community.
I'd have loved to have seen Charlie played by a different actress. Dollars to donuts, she would've been labeled a Mary Sue who stole the show from the Winchesters and run out of the fandom on a rail.
Yeah, I agree; they did have the old SPN feel and what made them even better for me was that the brother moments didn't seem as insincere oor tacked onas they have seemed in most episodes this season.
X
My fav of the three was the Henry one because it concentrated solely on the Winchester family, and for me they are the most fascinating thing about SPN.:)
However we've had very little movement on the MOL theme. I hope it's not going to be shoved into the 'cave of dropped plot-lines' never to be seen again.
Oh well, at least we still have the bunker, for now anyway!
The only time I have seen this actress has been on SPN but for me any guest star who comes on the show and does the brothers' jobs for them, making them look incapable, unecessary and dumb isn't appreciated. (Of course we're back to fact that what happens on the show is only down to the writers) X
However in season seven, at least Charlie did her own thing and both brothers watched together from the side -lines, and although we don't know how this episode will turn out, the fact that Sam is lying in a bed while Dean teams up with Charlie says all.
I only started watching "The Talking Dead" this year so I didn't know she had appeared on the show. I think it's nice that people can be light on that show, but I also like a little serious dicussion too. Sounds like she just joked her way through her appearance, huh?
Nah . . . I don't think so. Last year, Jared "supposedly" got all this time off b/c the baby, and that's why we had some "Sam-lite" episodes. I don't believe it. They probably wrote those "Sam-lite" episodes BEFORE they even knew GP was pregnant, and then just used the pregnancy as the reason. Haha! I'm cynical. The show has made it quite clear that - at times - Sam is completely irrelevant to the plot/story. I would literally be SHOCKED if I saw an episode without Dean. Shocked. It ain't ever gonna happen!
Ain't that the truth? Even the fight in T&F felt "real," not like the fight over Benny. Sadly, I think the MOL plot is over. Other than them being MOLs, there doesn't seem to be much more to it than that. That's why I found it so amusing that so many posters who favor Dean were upset w/Sam getting that plot and the trials. I even asked them what exactly Sam got from the MOL that Dean didn't but never got a response! That's b/c Sam didn't get anything unique or specific to him. Sam AND Dean are MOLs. I would have rather had Henry and the MOL for the first half of the season than Amelia.
Agreed. The MOL story had great potential. The idea of the Winchesters being the culmination of brains and brawn was cool but as the writers continue to present us with dumb Dean and absent Sam well, I don't think there's much to hope for there! X
To have started the season with the Mol stuff iand to have developed it as a story arc exploring their past etc, instead of the Amelia plot would have been a thousand times more interesting, yet I have a terrible feelig that we haven't seen the last of her! X
The writers seem to be going out of their way to aggravate the fans and as Amelia was disliked by nearly everyone, it would be just like them to bring her back! Of course it would be a handy way to handle Sam by confining him to the bunker in domestic bliss! I'm sure there would be no problem in fixing up a little accident for poor Don!
Honestly, if our fears come true (i.e., Sam in the batcave w/Amelia and baby while Dean and human Cas go out hunting), I will turn off the show! That is NOTHING I want to see. I would have thought JC would understand his mistake in Amelia, but he seems stubborn.
Because that has unfortunate implications regarding the idea of female characters being put in the passive, need-to-saved role. Something that would be doing a disservice to Charlie's character. Especially if you consider the fact that she's a lesbian and the 'sleeping princess' myth historically has a lot of heterosexual undertones; the prince rides in and awakens/arouses/saves the princess, leaving behind the metaphorical idea that before his arrival she is nothing and requires a male to resurrect her. All of which, of course, would be doing Charlie's character, indeed her very identity, a disservice, if it was to play out the way you suggested.
Jared let out in Vegas Con they were recording with a Djin in 8x20. In the promo Charlie says what Dean is in her dream, it makes total sense now. (Sorry for english, I from Brazil)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oh God, Sammy!
ReplyDeleteAnd yay, Charlie's back! I love her so much.
WOW-Dean in uniform-always great & Charlie's back. What's happening to Sam??? Can't wait-3 weeks 'til its back
ReplyDeleteWhy can't we have both the brothers dress up and have fun together? I miss the brothers working together for more than one or two scenes. Going through withdrawals.
ReplyDeleteThis episode looks incredibly stupid!
ReplyDeleteLet Sam die. They have made it perfectly clear that Sam is not worth caring about.
ReplyDeleteDean and Charlie playing dress up and bonding, and Sam out of the picture? LARP and the Real Girl part 2?
ReplyDeleteSam and Dean dressing up TOGETHER? For a whole episode? We can't have that!!!
ReplyDeleteThey sure don't seem to care about him at all. Thank God for the trials it's the one thing that keeps him relevant. I feel bad for Jared.
ReplyDeleteSo, judging from how things tend to turn out, I'm surmising the following will happen in the next episode:
ReplyDelete-Charlie and Dean will have fun shenanigans, and the episode will be "light-hearted"...

Am I assuming too much here, or does anyone else find this frighteningly plausible? :|
Basically! Or like last week's episode where Sam excuses himself out of scenes for no reason. Haha!
ReplyDeleteOh thank god, more limp!Sam. 'Cause it just wouldn't be Wednesday night without that. /eye-roll.
ReplyDeleteAt least Jared's getting a lot of rest this season. Probably needs it with a baby at home. God, I can't stand Charlie/Felicia Day. *prepares for the multitude of thumbs down and doesn't give a damn*
ReplyDeleteThey'll find some way to make his involvement in that irrelevant, too. Since half of fandom was screaming Sam "stole" that honor from Dean ...
ReplyDeleteThey don't care one hoot about Sam. I am expecting that the trials will change Sam so much that Dean will be forced to save him or kill him, because all Sam is good for is being an object of evil.

ReplyDeleteOnly thing to watch for in episodes like this is the eye candy.
